نحمیا 13

1 در همان روز، وقتی تورات موسی برای قوم اسرائیل خوانده می‌شد، این مطلب را در آن یافتند که عمونی‌ها و موآبی‌ها هرگز نباید وارد جماعت قوم خدا شوند.

On that day they read in the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people. It was found written in it that no Ammonite or Moabite should come into the assembly of God, forever.

2 این دستور بدان سبب بود که آنها با نان و آب از بنی‌اسرائیل استقبال نکردند، بلکه بلعام را اجیر نمودند تا ایشان را لعنت کند، ولی خدای ما لعنت او را به برکت تبدیل کرد.

This was because they had not come to the people of Israel with bread and with water, but they had hired Balaam to curse Israel. However, our God turned the curse into a blessing.

3 وقتی این قسمت خوانده شد، قوم اسرائیل افراد بیگانه را از جماعت خود جدا ساختند.

As soon as they heard the law, they separated out from Israel every foreign person.

4 الیاشیب کاهن که انباردار انبارهای خانهٔ خدا و دوست صمیمی طوبیا بود،

Now before this Eliashib the priest was appointed over the storerooms of the house of our God. He was related to Tobiah.

5 یکی از اتاقهای بزرگ انبار را به طوبیا داده بود. این اتاق قبلاً انبار هدایای آردی، بخور، ظروف خانهٔ خدا، ده‌یک غله، شراب و روغن زیتون بود. این هدایا متعلق به لاویان، دستهٔ سرایندگان و نگهبانان بود. هدایای مخصوص کاهنان نیز در این اتاق نگهداری می‌شد.

Eliashib prepared for Tobiah a large storeroom, where previously they kept the grain offering, the incense, the articles, and the tithes of the grain, new wine, and the oil, which were designated for the Levites, the singers, the gatekeepers, and the contributions for the priests.

6 در این موقع من در اورشلیم نبودم، چون در سال سی و دوم سلطنت اردشیر، پادشاه پارس، که بر بابِل حکومت می‌کرد، من نزد او رفته بودم. پس از مدتی دوباره از او اجازه خواستم تا به اورشلیم بازگردم.

But in all this time I was not in Jerusalem. For in the thirty-second year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon I went to the king. After some time I asked the king for permission to leave,

7 وقتی به اورشلیم رسیدم و از این کار زشت الیاشیب باخبر شدم که در خانهٔ خدا برای طوبیا اتاقی فراهم کرده بود

and I returned to Jerusalem. I understood the evil that Eliashib had done by giving Tobiah a storeroom in the courts of the house of God.

8 بسیار ناراحت شدم و اسباب و اثاثیه او را از اتاق بیرون ریختم.

I was very angry and I threw all Tobiah's household articles out of the storeroom.

9 سپس دستور دادم اتاق را تطهیر کنند و ظروف خانهٔ خدا، هدایای آردی و بخور را به آنجا بازگردانند.

I ordered that they purify the storerooms, and I put back in them the articles of the house of God, the grain offerings, and the incense.

10 در ضمن فهمیدم دستهٔ سرایندگان خانهٔ خدا و سایر لاویان، اورشلیم را ترک گفته و به مزرعه‌های خود بازگشته بودند، زیرا مردم سهمشان را به ایشان نمی‌دادند.

I learned that the Levites' portions had not been given to them, and they had run away, each to his own field, the Levites and the singers who did the work.

11 پس سران قوم را توبیخ کرده، گفتم: «چرا از خانهٔ خدا غافل مانده‌اید؟» سپس تمام لاویان را جمع کرده، ایشان را دوباره در خانهٔ خدا سر خدمت گذاشتم.

So I confronted the officials and said, “Why is the house of God neglected?” I gathered them together and stationed them at their posts.

12 سپس مردم یهودا بار دیگر ده‌یک غله، شراب و روغن زیتون خود را به انبارهای خانهٔ خدا آوردند.

Then all Judah brought in the tithe of the grain, the new wine, and the oil to the storerooms.

13 سپس شلمیای کاهن و فدایای لاوی و صادوق را که معلم شریعت بودند مأمور نگهداری انبارها نمودم، و حانان (پسر زکور، نوه متنیا) را هم معاون ایشان تعیین کردم، زیرا همهٔ این اشخاص مورد اعتماد مردم بودند. مسئولیت ایشان تقسیم سهمیه بین لاویان بود.

I appointed as treasurers over the storehouses Shelemiah the priest and Zadok the scribe, and from the Levites, Pedaiah. Next to them was Hanan son of Zaccur son of Mattaniah, for they were counted as trustworthy. Their duties were to distribute the supplies to their associates.

14 ای خدای من، کارهای مرا به یاد آور و خدماتی را که برای خانهٔ تو کرده‌ام فراموش نکن.

Call me to mind, my God, concerning this, and do not wipe out the good deeds that I have done for the house of my God and its services.

15 در آن روزها در یهودا عده‌ای را دیدم که در روز شَبّات در چرخشت، انگور له می‌کردند و عده‌ای دیگر غله و شراب و انگور و انجیر و چیزهای دیگر، بار الاغ می‌نمودند تا به اورشلیم ببرند و بفروشند. پس به ایشان اخطار کردم که در روز شَبّات این کار را نکنند.

In those days I saw in Judah people treading winepresses on the Sabbath and bringing in heaps of grain and loading them on donkeys, and also wine, grapes, figs, and all kinds of heavy loads, which they brought into Jerusalem on the Sabbath day. I protested that they were selling food on that day.

16 بعضی از اهالی صور نیز که در اورشلیم ساکن بودند در روز شَبّات ماهی و کالاهای گوناگون می‌آوردند و در اورشلیم به یهودیان می‌فروختند.

Men from Tyre living in Jerusalem brought in fish and all kinds of goods, and they sold them on the Sabbath to the people of Judah and in the city!

17 آنگاه سران یهودا را توبیخ کرده، گفتم: «این چه کار زشتی است که انجام می‌دهید؟ چرا روز شَبّات را بی‌حرمت می‌کنید؟

Then I confronted the leaders of Judah, “What is this evil thing you are doing, profaning the Sabbath day?

18 آیا برای همین کار نبود که خدا اجدادتان را تنبیه کرد و این شهر را ویران نمود؟ و حال، خود شما هم شَبّات را بی‌حرمت می‌کنید و باعث می‌شوید غضب خدا بر اسرائیل شعله‌ورتر شود.»

Did not your fathers do this? Did not our God bring all this evil on us and on this city? Now you are bringing more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”

19 سپس دستور دادم دروازه‌های شهر اورشلیم را از غروب آفتاب روز جمعه ببندند و تا غروب روز شَبّات باز نکنند. چند نفر از افراد خود را فرستادم تا دم دروازه‌ها نگهبانی بدهند و نگذارند روز شَبّات چیزی برای فروش به شهر بیاورند.

As soon as it became dark at the gates of Jerusalem before the Sabbath, I commanded that the doors be shut and that they should not be opened until after the Sabbath. I stationed some of my servants at the gates so no load could be brought in on the Sabbath day.

20 تاجران و فروشندگان یکی دو بار، جمعه‌ها، بیرون اورشلیم، شب را به سر بردند.

The merchants and sellers of all kinds of wares camped outside Jerusalem once or twice.

21 ولی من ایشان را تهدید کرده، گفتم: «اینجا چه می‌کنید، چرا شب را پشت دیوار به سر می‌برید؟ اگر بار دیگر این کار را بکنید، متوسل به زور می‌شوم.» از آن روز به بعد، دیگر روزهای شَبّات نیامدند.

But I warned them, “Why do you camp outside the wall? If you do so again, I will lay hands on you!” From that time on they did not come on the Sabbath.

22 سپس به لاویان دستور دادم خود را تطهیر کنند و دم دروازه‌ها نگهبانی بدهند تا تقدس روز شَبّات حفظ شود. ای خدای من، این کار مرا به یاد آور و برحسب محبت بی‌پایانت به من رحم کن.

Then I commanded the Levites to purify themselves, and come and guard the gates, to sanctify the Sabbath day. Call me to mind for this also, my God, and have mercy on me because of the covenant loyalty you have toward me.

23 در آن روزها عده‌ای از یهودیان را دیدم که از قومهای اشدودی، موآبی و عمونی برای خود زنان گرفته بودند

In those days I also saw Jews that had married women of Ashdod, Ammon, and Moab.

24 و نصف فرزندانشان به زبان اشدودی یا سایر زبانها صحبت می‌کردند و زبان عبری را نمی‌فهمیدند.

Half of their children spoke the language of Ashdod. None of them could speak the language of Judah, but only the language of one of the other peoples.

25 پس با والدین آنها دعوا کردم، ایشان را لعنت کردم، زدم و موی سرشان را کندم و در حضور خدا قسم دادم که نگذارند فرزندانشان با غیریهودیان ازدواج کنند.

I confronted them, and I cursed them, and I hit some of them and pulled out their hair. I made them swear by God, saying, “You shall not give your daughters to their sons, or take their daughters for your sons, or for yourselves.

26 سپس گفتم: «آیا این همان گناهی نیست که سلیمان پادشاه مرتکب شد؟ سلیمان در میان پادشاهان دنیا نظیر نداشت. خدا او را دوست می‌داشت و او را پادشاه تمام اسرائیل ساخت؛ ولی با وجود این، همسران بیگانهٔ سلیمان، او را به بت‌پرستی کشانیدند!

Did not Solomon king of Israel sin on account of these women? Among many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel. Nevertheless, his foreign wives caused him to sin.

27 حال که شما زنان بیگانه برای خود گرفته و به خدای خویش خیانت کرده‌اید، خیال می‌کنید ما این شرارت شما را تحمل خواهیم کرد؟»

Should we then listen to you and do all this great evil, and act treacherously against our God by marrying foreign women?”

28 یکی از پسران یهویاداع (پسر الیاشیب کاهن اعظم) دختر سنبلط حورونی را به زنی گرفته بود، پس مجبور شدم او را از اورشلیم بیرون کنم.

One of the sons of Joiada son of Eliashib the high priest was son-in-law to Sanballat the Horonite. Therefore I caused him to flee from my presence.

29 ای خدای من، کارهای آنها را فراموش نکن، چون به مقام کاهنی و عهد و پیمان کاهنان و لاویان توهین کرده‌اند.

Call them to mind, my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood and the Levites.

30 پس قوم خدا را از بیگانه‌ها جدا کردم و برای کاهنان و لاویان وظیفه تعیین نمودم تا هر کس بداند چه باید بکند.

Thus I cleansed them from everything foreign, and established the duties of the priests and the Levites, each to his own task.

31 ترتیبی دادم تا به موقع برای مذبح هیزم بیاورند و نوبر محصولات را جمع‌آوری کنند. ای خدای من، مرا به یاد آور و برکت ده.

I provided for the wood offering at the appointed times and for the firstfruits. Call me to mind, my God, for good.
