متی 6

1 «مراقب باشید که اعمال نیک خود را پیش مردم به جا نیاورید، به این قصد که شما را ببینند و تحسین کنند، زیرا در این صورت نزد پدر آسمانی‌تان پاداشی نخواهید داشت.

Take heede that ye giue not your almes before men, to be seene of them, or els ye shall haue no reward of your Father which is in heaue.

2 هرگاه به فقیری کمک می‌کنی، مانند ریاکاران عمل نکن، مانند آنان که در کنیسه‌ها و در کوچه و بازار جار می‌زنند تا مردم تحسین‌شان کنند. براستی به شما می‌گویم که ایشان پاداش خود را به تمامی از مردم دریافت کرده‌اند.

Therefore when thou giuest thine almes, thou shalt not make a trumpet to be blowen before thee, as the hypocrites doe in the Synagogues and in the streetes, to be praysed of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde.

3 اما وقتی به کسی صدقه‌ای می‌دهی، نگذار حتی دست چپت از کاری که دست راستت می‌کند، آگاه شود،

But when thou doest thine almes, let not thy left hand knowe what thy right hand doeth,

4 تا نیکویی تو در نهان باشد. آنگاه پدر آسمانی‌ات که امور نهان را می‌بیند، تو را پاداش خواهد داد.

That thine almes may be in secret, and thy Father that seeth in secret, hee will rewarde thee openly.

5 «و اما دربارهٔ دعا. هرگاه دعا می‌کنی، مانند ریاکاران نباش که دوست دارند در ملأ عام، در گوشه و کنار خیابانها و در کنیسه‌ها دعا کنند، تا همه ایشان را ببینند. براستی به شما می‌گویم، ایشان پاداش خود را تماماً از مردم دریافت کرده‌اند.

And when thou prayest, be not as the hypocrites: for they loue to stand, and pray in the Synagogues, and in the corners of the streetes, because they would be seene of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde.

6 اما تو هرگاه که دعا می‌کنی، به اتاقت برو و در را پشت سرت ببند، و در خلوت دل، به درگاه پدر دعا کن. آنگاه پدر آسمانی‌ات که امور نهان را می‌بیند، به تو پاداش خواهد داد.

But when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber and when thou hast shut thy doore, pray vnto thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret, shall rewarde thee openly.

7 «وقتی دعا می‌کنید، مانند کسانی که خدای حقیقی را نمی‌شناسند، وِردهای بی‌معنی تکرار نکنید. ایشان گمان می‌کنند که با تکرار زیاد، دعایشان مستجاب می‌شود.

Also when ye pray, vse no vaine repetitions as the Heathen: for they thinke to be heard for their much babbling.

8 شما مانند ایشان نباشید، زیرا پدر آسمانی شما به‌خوبی آگاه است به چه نیاز دارید، حتی پیش از آنکه از او درخواست کنید.

Be ye not like them therefore: for your Father knoweth whereof ye haue neede, before ye aske of him.

9 «پس شما این گونه دعا کنید: «”ای پدر ما که در آسمانی، نام تو مقدّس باد.

After this maner therefore pray ye, Our father which art in heauen, halowed be thy name.

10 ملکوت تو بیاید. خواست تو آنچنان که در آسمان انجام می‌شود، بر زمین نیز به انجام رسد.

Thy Kingdome come. Thy will be done euen in earth, as it is in heauen.

11 نان روزانۀ ما را امروز به ما عطا فرما.

Giue vs this day our dayly bread.

12 گناهان ما را ببخش، چنانکه ما نیز آنانی را که در حق ما گناه می‌کنند، می‌بخشیم.

And forgiue vs our dettes, as we also forgiue our detters.

13 و نگذار که تسلیم وسوسه شویم، بلکه ما را از آن شریر رهایی ده. زیرا ملکوت و قدرت و جلال تا ابد از آن توست. آمین!“

And leade vs not into tentation, but deliuer vs from euill: for thine is the kingdome, and the power, and the glorie for euer. Amen.

14 «اگر آنانی را که در حق شما گناه می‌کنند ببخشید، پدر آسمانی‌تان نیز شما را خواهد بخشید.

For if ye doe forgiue men their trespasses, your heauenly Father will also forgiue you.

15 اما اگر گناهان دیگران را نبخشید، پدر‌تان نیز گناهان شما را نخواهد بخشید.

But if ye do not forgiue men their trespasses, no more will your father forgiue you your trespaces.

16 «وقتی روزه می‌گیرید، مانند ریاکاران تظاهر نکنید، زیرا می‌کوشند صورت و قیافۀ خود را پریشان و نامرتب نشان دهند تا مردم آنها را به خاطر روزه‌داری‌شان تحسین کنند. براستی به شما می‌گویم که ایشان پاداش خود را به تمامی دریافت کرده‌اند.

Moreouer, when ye fast, looke not sowre as the hypocrites: for they disfigure their faces, that they might seeme vnto men to fast. Verely I say vnto you, that they haue their rewarde.

17 اما تو وقتی روزه می‌گیری، سر و صورت خود را تمیز و مرتب کن،

But when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy face,

18 تا کسی از روزۀ تو با‌خبر نشود جز پدرت که نادیدنی است؛ و او از آنچه در خلوت خود می‌کنی آگاه است، و تو را پاداش خواهد داد.

That thou seeme not vnto men to fast, but vnto thy Father which is in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret, will rewarde thee openly.

19 «گنج خود را بر روی این زمین ذخیره نکنید، جایی که بید و زنگ به آن آسیب می‌رسانند، و دزدان نقب می‌زنند و آن را می‌دزدند.

Lay not vp treasures for your selues vpon the earth, where the mothe and canker corrupt, and where theeues digge through and steale.

20 گنج خود را در آسمان ذخیره کنید، جایی که بید و زنگ نمی‌توانند به آن آسیب رسانند، و دزدان نیز نقب نمی‌زنند و آن را نمی‌دزدند.

But lay vp treasures for your selues in heauen, where neither the mothe nor canker corrupteth, and where theeues neither digge through, nor steale.

21 گنج تو هر جا باشد، دلت نیز همان جا خواهد بود.

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

22 «چشم تو چراغی است که روشنایی بدنت را تأمین می‌کند. اگر چشمت سالم باشد، تمام وجودت نیز سرشار از روشنایی خواهد بود.

The light of the body is the eye: if then thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be light.

23 اما اگر چشمت بیمار باشد، تمام وجودت در تاریکی غوطه‌ور خواهد بود. پس اگر آن روشنایی که گمان می‌بری در توست، در واقع تاریکی باشد، چه تاریکی عمیقی خواهد بود!

But if thine eye be wicked, then all thy body shalbe darke. Wherefore if the light that is in thee, be darkenes, howe great is that darkenesse?

24 «هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند به دو ارباب خدمت کند، زیرا یا از یکی نفرت خواهد داشت و به دیگری مِهر خواهد ورزید، و یا سرسپردۀ یکی خواهد بود و دیگری را خوار خواهد شمرد. همچنین نمی‌توانید هم بندهٔ خدا باشید و هم بندهٔ پول.

No man can serue two masters: for eyther he shall hate the one, and loue the other, or els he shall leane to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serue God and riches.

25 «پس نصیحت من این است که نگران زندگی روزمره خود نباشید، که آیا به اندازۀ کافی خوراک و نوشیدنی و پوشاک دارید یا نه. آیا زندگی از خوراک و بدن از پوشاک با ارزشتر نیست؟

Therefore I say vnto you, be not carefull for your life, what ye shall eate, or what ye shall drinke: nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more worth then meate? and the bodie then raiment?

26 به پرندگان نگاه کنید؛ نه می‌کارند، نه درو می‌کنند، و نه در انبارها ذخیره می‌کنند، زیرا پدر آسمانی شما روزی آنها را می‌رساند. آیا شما با ارزشتر از آنها نیستید؟

Behold the foules of the heauen: for they sowe not, neither reape, nor carie into the barnes: yet your heauenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better then they?

27 آیا همۀ نگرانی‌هایتان می‌تواند یک لحظه به عمرتان بیفزاید؟

Which of you by taking care is able to adde one cubite vnto his stature?

28 «چرا نگران لباس و پوشاک خود هستید؟ به گلهای صحرایی نگاه کنید که چگونه رشد و نموّ می‌کنند. آنها نه کار می‌کنند و نه برای خود لباس می‌دوزند.

And why care ye for raiment? Learne howe the lilies of the fielde doe growe: they are not wearied, neither spinne:

29 با این حال به شما می‌گویم که سلیمان نیز با تمام فرّ و شکوه خود، هرگز لباسی به زیبایی آنها بر تن نکرد.

Yet I say vnto you, that euen Salomon in all his glorie was not arayed like one of these.

30 پس اگر خدا به فکر گلهای صحراست که امروز هستند و فردا در تنور انداخته می‌شوند، چقدر بیشتر، ای کم‌ایمانان، به فکر شماست.

Wherefore if God so clothe the grasse of the fielde which is to day, and to morowe is cast into the ouen, shall he not doe much more vnto you, O ye of litle faith?

31 «پس نگران این چیزها نباشید و نگویید چه بخوریم یا چه بنوشیم یا چه بپوشیم.

Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eate? or what shall we drinke? or where with shall we be clothed?

32 زیرا بی‌ایمانان برای این چیزها غصه می‌خورند، اما پدر آسمانی شما از قبل می‌داند به اینها نیاز دارید.

(For after all these things seeke the Gentiles) for your heauenly Father knoweth, that ye haue neede of all these things.

33 پس شما اول از همه به‌دنبال ملکوت و عدالت خدا باشید، و او همهٔ نیازهای شما را برآورده خواهد ساخت.

But seeke ye first the kingdome of God, and his righteousnesse, and all these things shall be ministred vnto you.

34 «پس نگران فردا نباشید، زیرا فردا نگرانی‌های خود را به‌همراه دارد. مشکلات امروز برای امروز کافی است.

Care not then for the morowe: for the morowe shall care for it selfe: the day hath ynough with his owne griefe.
