یوشع 4

1 وقتی همۀ افراد قوم اسرائیل به سلامت از رودخانه گذشتند، خداوند به یوشع فرمود:

And whanne thei weren passid ouer, the Lord seide to Josue,

2 «اکنون به آن دوازده نفر که از دوازده قبیله انتخاب شده‌اند

Chese thou twelue men,

3 بگو که بروند و دوازده سنگ از وسط رودخانه، جایی که کاهنان آنجا ایستاده‌اند، بیرون بیاورند و آن سنگها را با خود به همان مکانی ببرند که امشب اردو می‌زنند تا به عنوان یادبود، آنها را روی هم قرار دهند.»

by ech lynage o man, and comaunde thou to hem, that thei take fro the myddis of the trow of Jordan, where the `feet of preestis stoden, twelue hardiste stoonys; whiche thou schalt sette in the place of castels, where ye schulen sette tentis in this nyyt.

4 پس یوشع آن دوازده نفر را که از میان بنی‌اسرائیل انتخاب کرده بود، فرا خواند

And Josue clepide twelue men, whiche he hadde chose of the sones of Israel, of ech lynage o man;

5 و به ایشان گفت: «به میان رودخانه، جایی که کاهنان با صندوق عهد یهوه خدایتان ایستاده‌اند، بروید و هر یک از شما یک سنگ بر دوش خود بگذارید و بیاورید، یعنی دوازده سنگ به تعداد دوازده قبیلهٔ اسرائیل.

and he seide to hem, Go ye bifore the arke of youre Lord God to the myddis of Jordan, and bere ye fro thennus in youre schuldris ech man o stoon, bi the noumbre of the sones of Israel,

6 ما آنها را به عنوان یادبود در اینجا می‌گذاریم تا وقتی در آینده فرزندانتان بپرسند: این سنگها چیست؟

that it be a signe bitwixe you. And whanne youre sones schulen axe you to morewe, that is, in tyme `to comynge, and schulen seie, What wolen these stonus `to hem silf?

7 به آنها بگویید که این یادگار روزی است که جریان آب رود اردن قطع شد و در میان آن، راه خشکی پدید آمد تا صندوق عهد خداوند از آن عبور کند! این سنگها برای قوم اسرائیل یادگاری جاودانه از این معجزهٔ بزرگ خواهند بود.»

ye schulen answere to hem, The watris of Jordan failiden bifor the arke of boond of pees of the Lord, whanne the arke passide Jordan; therfor these stoonus ben set in to mynde of the sones of Israel, til in to withouten ende.

8 آن دوازده نفر طبق دستور یوشع عمل نمودند و دوازده سنگ از وسط رودخانه آوردند، درست همان‌گونه که خداوند به یوشع فرموده بود، یعنی برای هر قبیلۀ اسرائیل یک سنگ. سنگها را به محلی که در آنجا توقف نموده بودند بردند و یادبودی بنا کردند.

Therfor the sones of Israel diden as Josue comaundide to hem, and baren fro the myddis of the trow of Jordan twelue stoonys, as the Lord comaundide to hem, bi the noumbre of the sones of Israel, `til to the place in which thei settiden tentis; and there thei puttiden tho stonys.

9 یوشع در وسط رودخانه، جایی که کاهنان ایستاده بودند نیز دوازده سنگ دیگر به عنوان یادگار روی هم گذاشت که تا به امروز باقیست.

Also Josue puttide othire twelue stoonys in the myddis of the trow of Jordan, where the preestis stoden, that baren the arke of boond of pees of the Lord; and tho stoonys ben there `til in to present dai.

10 کاهنان با صندوق عهد آنقدر در وسط رودخانه ماندند تا قوم اسرائیل آنچه را که خداوند به یوشع فرموده بود به انجام رساندند، درست همان‌گونه که موسی به یوشع توصیه کرده بود. پس قوم اسرائیل با شتاب از رود اردن گذشتند،

Forsothe the preestis, that baren the arke, stoden in the myddis of Jordan, til alle thingis weren fillid, whiche the Lord comaundide, that Josue schulde speke to the puple, as Moises hadde seide to hym. And the puple hastide, and passide.

11 و پس از آنکه به آن سوی رودخانه رسیدند، کاهنان هم با صندوق عهد خداوند از رودخانه بیرون آمدند.

And whanne alle men hadden passid, also the arke of the Lord passide, and the preestis yeden bifor the puple.

12 مردان جنگی قبایل رئوبین، جاد و نصف قبیلهٔ منسی که چهل هزار نفر بودند مسلح شدند و چنانکه موسی پیش از فوت خود به ایشان گفته بود، پیشاپیش بقیهٔ قوم عبور کرده، در حضور خداوند، به سوی دشت اریحا پیش رفتند.

Also the sones of Ruben, and of Gad, and half the lynage of Manasse, yeden armed bifor the sones of Israel, as Moyses comaundide to hem.

And fourti thousynde of fiyters yeden bi her cumpanyes and gaderyngis on the pleyn and feeldi places of the citee of Jerico.

14 در آن روز، خداوند یوشع را در نظر تمام قوم اسرائیل سرافراز نمود. قوم اسرائیل، یوشع را در تمام مدت عمرش مانند موسی احترام می‌کردند.

In that day the Lord magnyfiede Josue bifor al Israel, that thei schulden drede hym, as thei dreden Moises, while he lyuede yit.

15 یوشع به امر خداوند به کاهنانی که صندوق عهد را حمل می‌کردند گفت: «از بستر رود اردن بیرون بیایید.»

And the Lord seide to Josue,

16

Comaunde thou to the preestis that beren the arke of boond of pees, that thei stie fro Jordan.

17

And Josue comaundide to hem, and seide, Stie ye fro Jordan.

18 به محض اینکه کاهنان بیرون آمدند، آب رودخانه دوباره به جریان افتاد و مانند قبل بر کناره‌هایش نیز جاری شد.

And whanne thei hadden stied, berynge the arke of boond of pees of the Lord, and hadde bigunne to trede on the drie erthe, the watris turneden ayen in to her trowe, and flowiden, as tho weren wont before.

19 این معجزه در روز دهم ماه اول اتفاق افتاد. آن روز، تمام مردم اسرائیل از رود اردن گذشتند و در جلجال، در سمت شرقی شهر اریحا اردو زدند.

Forsothe the puple stiede fro Jordan in the tenthe dai of the firste monethe, and thei settiden tentis in Galgalis, ayens the eest coost of the citee of Jerico.

20 آنجا در جلجال یوشع دوازده سنگی را که از وسط رودخانه آورده بود، به عنوان یادبود روی هم گذاشت.

Also Josue puttide in Galgalis the twelue stonys, whiche thei hadden take fro the trow of Jordan.

21 بار دیگر یوشع مفهوم آن سنگها را برای قوم اسرائیل بیان کرد: «در آینده اگر فرزندانتان بپرسند: این تودۀ سنگها در اینجا برای چیست؟

And he seide to the sones of Israel, Whanne youre sones schulen axe to morewe her fadris, and schulen seie to hem, What wolen these stoonys `to hem silf?

22 به آنها بگویید که این سنگها یادآور عبور معجزآسای قوم اسرائیل از میان رود اردن است!»

ye schulen teche hem, and ye schulen seie, We passiden this Jordan bi the drie botme,

23 برای ایشان توضیح دهید که چگونه خداوند جریان آب را قطع کرد و از وسط رودخانه، راه خشکی پدید آورد تا همهٔ شما عبور کنید! این شبیه معجزه‌ای است که خداوند چهل سال قبل انجام داد، وقتی دریای سرخ را شکافت و از وسط آن، راه خشکی برای عبور بنی‌اسرائیل پدید آورد.

for oure Lord God driede the watris therof in oure siyt, til we passiden, as he dide bifore in the Reed See, which he driede while we passiden,

24 خداوند این معجزه را انجام داد تا همهٔ مردم جهان بدانند که قدرت او عظیم است و همچنین شما نیز همیشه او را اطاعت کنید.

that alle the puplis of londis lurne the strongeste hond of the Lord, that also ye drede youre Lord God in al tyme.
