یوشع 24

1 یک بار دیگر، یوشع تمام قبایل اسرائیل را با بزرگان و رهبران و داوران و مقامات قوم اسرائیل در شکیم فرا خواند و آنها آمده، در حضور خدا ایستادند.

And Ioshua assembled againe all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called the Elders of Israel, and their heades, and their iudges, and their officers, and they presented themselues before God.

2 یوشع لب به سخن گشود و گفت که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل می‌فرماید: «در گذشته جد شما تارح، پدر ابراهیم و ناحور، در سمت شرقی رود فرات می‌زیست و بت‌پرست بود.

Then Ioshua said vnto all the people, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt beyond the flood in olde time, euen Terah the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor, and serued other gods.

3 ولی من ابراهیم، پسر تارح را از آن سوی رود فرات برداشته، به سرزمین کنعان آوردم و او را در سراسر این سرزمین گرداندم و نسل او را زیاد کردم. اسحاق را به او بخشیدم

And I tooke your father Abraham from beyond the flood, and brought him through all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seede, and gaue him Izhak.

4 و به اسحاق نیز یعقوب و عیسو را دادم. نواحی اطراف کوه سعیر را به عیسو بخشیدم. یعقوب و فرزندانش به مصر رفتند.

And I gaue vnto Izhak, Iaakob and Esau: and I gaue vnto Esau mount Seir, to possesse it: but Iaakob and his children went downe into Egypt.

5 بعد موسی و هارون را فرستادم و بلای عظیمی بر سر مصری‌ها آوردم. سرانجام، اجداد شما را از اسارت مصری‌ها آزاد نمودم.

I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt: and when I had so done among them, I brought you out.

6 وقتی به ساحل دریای سرخ رسیدند، مصری‌ها با ارابه‌ها و سواران به تعقیب ایشان پرداختند.

So I brought your fathers out of Egypt, and ye came vnto the Sea, and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with charets and horsemen vnto the red sea.

7 در این هنگام، آنها از من کمک خواستند و من میان آنها و لشکر مصر تاریکی ایجاد نمودم. سپس آب دریا را بر سر مصری‌ها ریختم و آنها را در دریا غرق کردم. پدران شما آنچه را که بر سر مصری‌ها آوردم با چشمان خود دیدند. بعد از آن، قوم اسرائیل سالهای زیادی را در بیابان گذرانیدند.

Then they cryed vnto the Lord, and he put a darkenesse betweene you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea vpon them, and couered them: so your eyes haue seene what I haue done in Egypt also ye dwelt in the wildernesse a long season.

8 «سرانجام شما را به سرزمین اموری‌ها در آن طرف رود اردن آوردم. اموری‌ها با شما جنگیدند، ولی من ایشان را نابود کردم و زمینهایشان را به شما دادم.

After, I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt beyond Iorden, and they fought with you: but I gaue them into your hand, and ye possessed their countrey, and I destroyed them out of your sight.

9 سپس بالاق، پادشاه موآب جنگ را با شما آغاز نمود و به دنبال بلعام، پسر بعور فرستاد تا شما را لعنت کند.

Also Balak the sonne of Zippor King of Moab arose and warred against Israel, and sent to call Balaam the sonne of Beor for to curse you,

10 اما من دعای او را اجابت ننمودم، بلکه او را وادار ساختم تا شما را برکت بدهد و به این ترتیب شما را از دست بالاق نجات دادم.

But I would not heare Balaam: therefore he blessed you, and I deliuered you out of his hand.

11 سپس از رود اردن گذشتید و به اریحا آمدید. جنگجویان اریحا و بسیاری از قبایل دیگر از قبیل اموری‌ها، فرزی‌ها، کنعانی‌ها، حیتی‌ها، جرجاشی‌ها، حوی‌ها و یبوسی‌ها یکی پس از دیگری با شما جنگیدند. اما من همهٔ آنها را مغلوب شما ساختم.

And ye went ouer Iorden, and came vnto Iericho, and the men of Iericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hiuites and the Iebusites, and I deliuered them into your hand.

12 زنبورهای سرخ به سراغ اموری‌ها فرستادم و دو پادشاه اموری را با مردمانشان از پیش روی شما راندم. شما این پیروزی را با نیزه و کمان به دست نیاوردید!

And I sent hornets before you, which cast them out before you, euen the two kings of the Amorites, and not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.

13 زمینی را که در آن زحمت نکشیده بودید و شهرهایی را که خود بنا نکرده بودید، به شما بخشیدم تا در آن ساکن شوید و از میوهٔ تاکستانها و باغهای زیتونی که خود زحمت کاشتن آنها را نکشیده بودید، بخورید.

And I haue giuen you a land, wherein ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and yee dwell in them, and eate of the vineyards and oliue trees, which yee planted not.

14 «پس خداوند را احترام نمایید و با صداقت و راستی او را خدمت کنید. بتهایی را که زمانی اجدادتان در آن سوی رود فرات و در مصر پرستش می‌نمودند، از خود دور کنید و فقط خداوند را عبادت نمایید.

Nowe therefore feare the Lord, and serue him in vprightnesse and in trueth, and put away the gods, which your fathers serued beyonde the flood and in Egypt, and serue the Lord.

15 امروز تصمیم خود را بگیرید. آیا می‌خواهید از خداوند پیروی کنید یا از بتهایی که اجداد شما در آن سوی رود فرات می‌پرستیدند، و یا از بتهای اموری‌هایی که در سرزمینشان ساکنید؟ ولی این را بدانید که من و خانواده‌ام خداوند را عبادت خواهیم نمود.»

And if it seeme euill vnto you to serue the Lord, choose you this day whome yee will serue, whether the gods which your fathers serued (that were beyond the flood) or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwel: but I and mine house will serue the Lord.

16 مردم اسرائیل در پاسخ او گفتند: «وای بر ما اگر خداوند را ترک نماییم و بتها را پرستش کنیم؛

Then the people answered and saide, God forbid, that we shoulde forsake the Lord, to serue other gods.

17 زیرا خداوند، خدای ما بود که قوم ما را از بردگی مصری‌ها رهانید و در پیش چشمانمان معجزات شگفت‌انگیزی انجام داد. در تمام طول راه و هنگامی که از میان سرزمینهای دشمنان می‌گذشتیم، او ما را حفظ کرد.

For the Lord our God, he brought vs and our fathers out of the lande of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and he did those great miracles in our sight, and preserued vs in all the way that we went, and among all the people through whome we came.

18 خداوند بود که هنگام ورود ما به این سرزمین، قوم اموری و سایر قومها را از اینجا بیرون راند. پس ما نیز از خداوند پیروی خواهیم کرد، زیرا او خدای ماست.»

And the Lord did cast out before vs all the people, euen the Amorites which dwelt in the lande: therefore will we also serue the Lord, for he is our God.

19 اما یوشع در پاسخ ایشان گفت: «پیروی از خداوند کار آسانی نیست، زیرا او قدوس و بسیار غیور است و از گناهانتان نخواهد گذشت.

And Ioshua saide vnto the people, Ye can not serue the Lord: for he is an holie God: he is a ielous God: hee will not pardon your iniquitie nor your sinnes.

20 اگر او را ترک کرده بتها را بپرستید، او بر ضد شما برخواهد خاست و شما را مجازات خواهد کرد، و با وجود آنکه به شما احسان نموده است، شما را از بین خواهد برد.»

If yee forsake the Lord and serue strange gods, then he will returne and bring euill vpon you, and consume you, after that hee hath done you good.

21 قوم اسرائیل در جواب یوشع گفتند: «ولی ما قول می‌دهیم از خداوند پیروی کنیم!»

And the people saide vnto Ioshua, Nay, but we will serue the Lord.

22 یوشع گفت: «پس خود شما شاهد هستید که قول داده‌اید از خداوند پیروی نمایید.» گفتند: «بله، ما خود، شاهد هستیم.»

And Ioshua saide vnto the people, Yee are witnesses against your selues, that yee haue chosen you the Lord, to serue him: and they sayd, We are witnesses.

23 یوشع گفت: «بسیار خوب، پس حال باید بتهایی را که در میان شما هستند از خود دور کنید و دلهای خود را به خداوند، خدای اسرائیل نزدیک سازید.»

Then put away nowe, saide he, the strange gods which are among you, and bowe your hearts vnto the Lord God of Israel.

24 مردم به یوشع گفتند: «آری، ما فقط از خداوند، خدای خود اطاعت و پیروی خواهیم کرد.»

And ye people saide vnto Ioshua, The Lord our God wil we serue, and his voyce wil we obey.

25 یوشع آن روز در شکیم با ایشان پیمان بست و آنها را متعهد به انجام قوانین و مقررات آن نمود.

So Ioshua made a couenant with the people the same day, and gaue them an ordinance and lawe in Shechem.

26 او تمام این سخنان را در کتاب قانون خدا نوشت. سپس سنگی بزرگ گرفته، آن را در پای درخت بلوطی که در کنار خیمهٔ عبادت بود، بر پا داشت.

And Ioshua wrote these woordes in the booke of the Lawe of God, and tooke a great stone, and pitched it there vnder an oke that was in the Sanctuarie of the Lord.

27 آنگاه یوشع به تمام قوم اسرائیل گفت: «این سنگ، شاهد پیمان شما با خداوند است و تمام سخنانی را که خداوند به ما فرمود، شنیده است. پس اگر از پیروی خدا برگردید، همین سنگ بر ضد شما شهادت خواهد داد.»

And Ioshua saide vnto all the people, Beholde, this stone shall be a witnesse vnto vs: for it hath heard all the wordes of the Lord which he spake with vs: it shall be therefore a witnesse against you, lest yee denie your God.

28 بعد از آن، یوشع مردم را مرخص نمود تا هر کس به ملک خود برود.

Then Ioshua let the people depart, euery man vnto his inheritance.

29 چندی بعد، یوشع خدمتگزار خداوند در سن صد و ده سالگی درگذشت

And after these things Ioshua the sonne of Nun, the seruaunt of the Lord died, being an hundreth and ten yeeres olde.

30 و او را در تمنه سارح در کوهستان افرایم به طرف شمال کوه جاعش که ملک خود او بود دفن کردند.

And they buried him in ye border of his inheritance in Timnath-serah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the Northside of mount Gaash.

31 قوم اسرائیل در تمام مدت زندگانی یوشع و نیز ریش‌سفیدان قوم که پس از او زنده مانده بودند و شخصاً اعمال شگفت‌انگیز خداوند را در حق اسرائیل دیده بودند، نسبت به خداوند وفادار ماندند.

And Israel serued the Lord all the daies of Ioshua, and all the daies of the Elders that ouerliued Ioshua, and which had knowen all the workes of the Lord that he had done for Israel.

32 استخوانهای یوسف را که اسرائیلی‌ها موقع خروج از مصر با خود آورده بودند، در شکیم در قطعه زمینی که یعقوب از پسران حمور به صد تکه نقره خریده بود دفن کردند. (این زمین در ملک پسران یوسف قرار داشت.)

And the bones of Ioseph, which the children of Israel brought out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem in a parcell of ground which Iaakob bought of the sonnes of Hamor the father of Shechem, for an hundreth pieces of siluer, and the children of Ioseph had them in their inheritance.

33 العازار، پسر هارون نیز درگذشت و او را در جِبعه که در ملک پسرش فینحاس واقع بود، در کوهستان افرایم دفن کردند.

Also Eleazar the sonne of Aaron died, whome they buried in the hill of Phinehas his sonne, which was giuen him in mount Ephraim.
