یوحنا 8

1 عیسی به کوه زیتون بازگشت.

but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 ولی روز بعد، صبح زود، باز به معبد رفت. مردم نیز دور او جمع شدند. عیسی نشست و مشغول تعلیم ایشان شد.

At break of day however He returned to the Temple, and there the people came to Him in crowds. He seated Himself;

3 در همین وقت، سران قوم و فریسیان زنی را که در حال زنا گرفته بودند، کشان‌کشان به مقابل جمعیت آوردند

and was teaching them when the Scribes and the Pharisees brought to Him a woman who had been found committing adultery. They made her stand in the centre of the court, and they put the case to Him.

4 و به عیسی گفتند: «استاد، ما این زن را به هنگام عمل زنا گرفته‌ایم.

"Rabbi," they said, "this woman has been found in the very act of committing adultery.

5 او مطابق قانون موسی باید کشته شود. ولی نظر تو چیست؟»

Now, in the Law, Moses has ordered us to stone such women to death. But what do you say?"

6 آنان می‌خواستند عیسی چیزی بگوید تا او را به دام بیندازند و محکوم کنند. ولی عیسی سر را پایین انداخت و با انگشت بر زمین می‌نوشت.

They asked this in order to put Him to the test, so that they might have some charge to bring against Him. But Jesus leant forward and began to write with His finger on the ground.

7 سران قوم اصرار می‌کردند که او جواب دهد. پس عیسی سر خود را بلند کرد و به ایشان فرمود: «اگر می‌خواهید او را سنگسار کنید، سنگ اول را باید کسی به او بزند که خود تا به حال گناهی نکرده باشد.»

When however they persisted with their question, He raised His head and said to them, "Let the sinless man among you be the first to throw a stone at her."

8 سپس، دوباره سر را پایین انداخت و به نوشتن بر روی زمین ادامه داد.

Then He leant forward again, and again began to write on the ground.

9 سران قوم، از پیر گرفته تا جوان، یکا‌یک بیرون رفتند تا اینکه در مقابل جمعیت فقط عیسی ماند و آن زن.

They listened to Him, and then, beginning with the eldest, took their departure, one by one, till all were gone. And Jesus was left behind alone--and the woman in the centre of the court.

10 آنگاه عیسی بار دیگر سر را بلند کرد و به آن زن فرمود: «آنانی که تو را متهم می‌ساختند، کجا رفتند؟ حتی یک نفر هم نماند که تو را محکوم کند؟»

Then, raising His head, Jesus said to her, "Where are they? Has no one condemned you?"

11 زن گفت: «نه، سرورم!» عیسی فرمود: «من نیز تو را محکوم نمی‌کنم. برو و دیگر گناه نکن.»

"No one, Sir," she replied. "And I do not condemn you either," said Jesus; "go, and from this time do not sin any more."]

12 عیسی در یکی از تعالیم خود، به مردم فرمود: «من نور جهان هستم، هر که مرا پیروی کند، در تاریکی نخواهد ماند، زیرا نور حیات‌بخش راهش را روشن می‌کند.»

Once more Jesus addressed them. "I am the Light of the world," He said; "the man who follows me shall certainly not walk in the dark, but shall have the light of Life."

13 فریسیان گفتند: «تو بر خودت شهادت می‌دهی، پس شهادتت معتبر نیست.»

"You are giving testimony about yourself," said the Pharisees; "your testimony is not true."

14 عیسی فرمود: «من هر چه می‌گویم عین حقیقت است، حتی اگر دربارهٔ خودم باشد. چون می‌دانم از کجا آمده‌ام و به کجا باز می‌گردم. ولی شما این را نمی‌دانید.

"Even if I am giving testimony about myself," replied Jesus, "my testimony is true; for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you know neither of these two things.

15 شما با معیارهای انسانی مرا قضاوت می‌کنید، اما من هیچ‌کس را قضاوت نمی‌کنم.

You judge according to appearances: I am judging no one.

16 اگر نیز چنین کنم، قضاوت من کاملاً درست است، چون من تنها نیستم، بلکه پدری که مرا فرستاد، با من است.

And even if I do judge, my judgement is just; for I am not alone, but the Father who sent me is with me.

17 مطابق شریعتِ شما، اگر دو نفر دربارهٔ موضوعی شهادت دهند، شهادت ایشان به طور مسلم قابل قبول است.

In your own Law, too, it is written that the testimony of two men is true.

18 دربارهٔ من نیز دو نفر هستند که شهادت می‌دهند، یکی خودم و دیگری پدرم که مرا فرستاده است.»

I am one giving testimony about myself, and the Father who sent me gives testimony about me."

19 پرسیدند: «پدرت کجاست؟» عیسی جواب داد: «شما که نمی‌دانید من کیستم، چگونه می‌خواهید پدرم را بشناسید؟ اگر مرا می‌شناختید، پدرم را نیز می‌شناختید.»

"Where is your Father?" they asked. "You know my Father as little as you know me." He replied; "if you knew me, you would know my Father also."

20 عیسی این سخنان را در قسمتی از معبد که خزانه در آنجا بود، بیان کرد. با این حال کسی او را نگرفت، چون وقت او هنوز به سر نرسیده بود.

These sayings He uttered in the Treasury, while teaching in the Temple; yet no one arrested Him, because His time had not yet come.

21 باز به ایشان فرمود: «من می‌روم و شما به دنبال من خواهید گشت و در گناهانتان خواهید مرد؛ و به جایی نیز که من می‌روم، شما نمی‌توانید بیایید.»

Again He said to them, "I am going away. Then you will try to find me, but you will die in your sins. Where I am going, it is impossible for you to come."

22 یهودیان از یکدیگر پرسیدند: «مگر می‌خواهد خودش را بکشد؟ منظورش چیست که می‌گوید جایی می‌روم که شما نمی‌توانید بیایید؟»

The Jews began to ask one another, "Is he going to kill himself, do you think, that he says, 'Where I am going, it is impossible for you to come'?"

23 آنگاه عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «شما از پایین هستید و من از بالا. شما متعلق به این جهان هستید ولی من نیستم.

"You," He continued, "are from below, I am from above: you are of this present world, I am not of this present world.

24 برای همین گفتم که شما در گناهانتان خواهید مرد، چون اگر ایمان نیاورید که من همان هستم که ادعا می‌کنم، در گناهانتان خواهید مرد.»

That is why I told you that you will die in your sins; for, unless you believe that I am He, that is what will happen."

25 مردم از او پرسیدند: «تو کیستی؟» عیسی جواب داد: «من همانم که از اول به شما گفتم.

"You--who are you?" they asked. "How is it that I am speaking to you at all?" replied Jesus.

26 برای خیلی چیزها می‌توانم شما را محکوم کنم و خیلی چیزها دارم که به شما تعلیم دهم؛ اما فعلاً این کار را نمی‌کنم. فقط چیزهایی را می‌گویم که فرستندۀ من از من خواسته است، و او حقیقت محض است.»

"Many things I have to speak and to judge concerning you. But He who sent me is true, and the things which I have heard from Him are those which I have come into the world to speak."

27 ولی ایشان درک نکردند که او دربارهٔ پدرش، خدا، سخن می‌گوید.

They did not perceive that He was speaking to them of the Father.

28 پس، عیسی فرمود: «وقتی پسر انسان را بر صلیب بلند کردید، آنگاه پی خواهید برد که من هستم، و از خود کاری نمی‌کنم، بلکه هر چه پدر به من آموخته، همان را بیان می‌کنم.

So Jesus added, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He. Of myself I do nothing; but as the Father has taught me, so I speak.

29 کسی که مرا فرستاده است با من است و مرا تنها نگذاشته، زیرا همواره کارهای پسندیدهٔ او را به جا می‌آورم.»

And He who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone: for I do always what is pleasing to Him."

30 در این وقت، بسیاری با شنیدن این سخنان به او ایمان آوردند.

As He thus spoke, many became believers in Him.

31 عیسی به یهودیانی که به او ایمان آورده بودند فرمود: «اگر به تعالیم من وفادار بمانید، شاگردان واقعی من خواهید بود.

Jesus therefore said to those of the Jews who had now believed in Him, "As for you, if you hold fast to my teaching, then you are truly my disciples;

32 آنگاه حقیقت را خواهید شناخت و حقیقت شما را آزاد خواهد ساخت.»

and you shall know the Truth, and the Truth will make you free."

33 گفتند: «منظورت چیست که می‌گویی آزاد خواهید شد؟ ما فرزندان ابراهیم هستیم و هرگز بردۀ کسی نبوده‌ایم.»

"We are descendants of Abraham," they answered, "and have never at any time been in slavery to any one. What do those words of yours mean, 'You shall become free'?"

34 عیسی جواب داد: «این عین حقیقت است که هر که گناه می‌کند، اسیر و بردهٔ گناه است.

"In most solemn truth I tell you," replied Jesus, "that every one who commits sin is the slave of sin.

35 برده جایگاهی دائمی در خانواده ندارد، اما پسر برای همیشه متعلق به آن خانواده است. (aiōn g165)

Now a slave does not remain permanently in his master's house, but a son does. (aiōn g165)

36 پس، اگر پسر شما را آزاد کند، در واقع آزادید.

If then the Son shall make you free, you will be free indeed.

37 بله، می‌دانم که شما فرزندان ابراهیم هستید. با این حال، بعضی از شما می‌خواهید مرا بکشید، زیرا در دل شما جایی برای تعالیم من نیست.

You are descendants of Abraham, I know; but you want to kill me, because my teaching gains no ground within you.

38 «من هر چه از پدرم دیده‌ام، می‌گویم. شما نیز هر چه از پدر خود آموخته‌اید، انجام می‌دهید.»

The words I speak are those I have learnt in the presence of the Father. Therefore you also should do what you have heard from your father."

39 گفتند: «پدر ما ابراهیم است.» عیسی جواب داد: «نه، اگر چنین بود، شما نیز از رفتار خوب ابراهیم سرمشق می‌گرفتید.

"Our father is Abraham," they said. "If you were Abraham's children," replied Jesus, "it is Abraham's deeds that you would be doing.

40 من حقایقی را که از خدا شنیده‌ام به شما گفته‌ام، با این حال شما می‌خواهید مرا بکشید. ابراهیم هرگز چنین کاری نمی‌کرد!

But, in fact, you are longing to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth which I have heard from God. Abraham did not do that.

41 وقتی چنین می‌کنید، از پدر واقعی‌تان پیروی می‌نمایید.» مردم جواب دادند: «ما که حرامزاده نیستیم. پدر واقعی ما خداست.»

You are doing the deeds of your father." "We," they replied, "are not illegitimate children. We have one Father, namely God."

42 عیسی فرمود: «اگر اینطور بود، مرا دوست می‌داشتید. چون من از جانب خدا نزد شما آمده‌ام. من خودسرانه نیامده‌ام بلکه خدا مرا پیش شما فرستاده است.

"If God were your Father," said Jesus, "you would love me; for it is from God that I came and I am now here. I have not come of myself, but He sent me.

43 چرا نمی‌توانید سخنان مرا بفهمید؟ دلیلش این است که نمی‌خواهید به من گوش دهید.

How is it you do not understand me when I speak? It is because you cannot bear to listen to my words.

44 شما فرزندان پدر واقعی‌تان ابلیس می‌باشید و دوست دارید اعمال بد او را انجام دهید. او از همان اول قاتل بود و از حقیقت نفرت داشت. در وجود او ذره‌ای حقیقت پیدا نمی‌شود، چون ذاتاً دروغگو و پدر همۀ دروغگوهاست.

The father whose sons you are is the Devil; and you desire to do what gives him pleasure. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand firm in the truth--for there is no truth in him. Whenever he utters his lie, he utters it out of his own store; for he is a liar, and the father of lies.

45 به همین دلیل است که وقتی من حقیقت را به شما می‌گویم، نمی‌توانید باور کنید.

But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.

46 کدام یک از شما می‌تواند مرا حتی به یک گناه متهم سازد؟ پس حال که حقیقت را از من می‌شنوید، چرا به من ایمان نمی‌آورید؟

Which of you convicts me of sin? If I speak the truth, why do you not believe me?

47 هر کس که پدرش خدا باشد، با خوشحالی به سخنان خدا گوش می‌دهد؛ و چون شما گوش نمی‌دهید، ثابت می‌کنید که فرزندان خدا نیستید.»

He who is a child of God listens to God's words. You do not listen to them: and why? It is because you are not God's children."

48 سران قوم فریاد زده، گفتند: «ای سامری اجنبی، ما از ابتدا درست می‌گفتیم که تو دیوزده‌ای.»

"Are we not right," answered the Jews, "in saying that you are a Samaritan and are possessed by a demon?"

49 عیسی فرمود: «من دیوزده نیستم. من به پدرم، خدا، احترام می‌گذارم، ولی شما به من بی‌احترامی می‌کنید.

"I am not possessed by a demon," replied Jesus. "On the contrary I honour my Father, and you dishonour me.

50 با اینکه من نمی‌خواهم خود را عزت و بزرگی ببخشم، اما این خداست که مرا بزرگی و عزت خواهد بخشید. اوست داور راستین.

I, however, am not aiming at glory for myself: there is One who aims at glory for me--and who judges.

51 این که می‌گویم عین حقیقت است: هر که احکام مرا اطاعت کند، هرگز نخواهد مرد.» (aiōn g165)

In most solemn truth I tell you that if any one shall have obeyed my teaching he shall in no case ever see death." (aiōn g165)

52 سران یهود گفتند: «حالا دیگر برای ما ثابت شد که تو دیوزده‌ای. ابراهیم و تمام پیامبران بزرگ خدا مردند؛ حال، تو ادعا می‌کنی که هر که از تو اطاعت کند، هرگز نخواهد مرد؟ (aiōn g165)

"Now," exclaimed the Jews, "we know that you are possessed by a demon. Abraham died, and so did the Prophets, and yet you say, 'If any one shall have obeyed my teaching, he shall in no case ever taste death.' (aiōn g165)

53 یعنی تو از پدر ما ابراهیم که مرد، بزرگتری؟ از پیامبران خدا هم که مردند بزرگتری؟ خود را که می‌دانی؟»

Are you really greater than our forefather Abraham? For he died. And the prophets died. Who do you make yourself out to be?"

54 عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «اگر من بخواهم خودم را جلال بدهم، این کار ارزشی نخواهد داشت؛ اما این پدر من است که به من جلال می‌بخشد، همان کسی که ادعا می‌کنید خدای شماست.

"Were I to glorify myself," answered Jesus, "I should have no real glory. There is One who glorifies me--namely my Father, who you say is your God.

55 شما او را نمی‌شناسید، اما من او را می‌شناسم؛ و اگر بگویم او را نمی‌شناسم، آنگاه مانند شما دروغگو خواهم بود! ولی حقیقت این است که من خدا را می‌شناسم و کاملاً مطیع او هستم.

You do not know Him, but I know Him perfectly; and were I to deny my knowledge of Him, I should resemble you, and be a liar. On the contrary I do know Him, and I obey His commands.

56 جدّ شما ابراهیم با شادی چشم به راه آمدن من بود؛ او آن را دید و شاد گردید.»

Abraham your forefather exulted in the hope of seeing my day: and he saw it, and was glad."

57 سران قوم یهود فریاد زدند: «چه می‌گویی؟ تو حتی پنجاه سال نیز نداری و می‌گویی ابراهیم را دیده‌ای؟»

"You are not yet fifty years old," cried the Jews, "and have you seen Abraham?"

58 عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «این حقیقت محض است که پیش از آنکه ابراهیم باشد، من هستم!»

"In most solemn truth," answered Jesus, "I tell you that before Abraham came into existence, I am."

59 سران قوم که دیگر طاقت شنیدن سخنان او را نداشتند، سنگ برداشتند تا او را بکشند. ولی عیسی از کنار ایشان گذشت و از معبد بیرون رفت و از نظرها پنهان شد.

Thereupon they took up stones with which to stone Him, but He hid Himself and went away out of the Temple.
