یوحنا 3

1 در این میان، مردی بود از گروه فریسیان به نام نیقودیموس، که یکی از اعضای شورای عالی یهود بود.

There was a man of the Pharisees, the name to him Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews;

2 او شبی نزد عیسی آمد و گفت: «استاد، ما روحانیون این شهر، همه می‌دانیم که تو از طرف خدا آمده‌ای تا ما را تعلیم دهی. نشانه‌های معجزه‌آسایت گواه بر این است که خدا با توست.»

the same came to Him by night, and said to Him, Rabbi, we know that thou hast come a teacher from God; for no one is able to do these miracles, which thou art doing, unless God may he with him.

3 عیسی جواب داد: «براستی به تو می‌گویم، اگر تولدی تازه پیدا نکنی، هرگز نمی‌توانی ملکوت خدا را ببینی.»

Jesus responded and said to him, Truly, truly, I say unto thee, unless any one may be born from above, he is not able to see the kingdom of God.

4 نیقودیموس با تعجب گفت: «منظورت از تولد تازه چیست؟ چگونه امکان دارد پیرمردی مثل من، به شکم مادرش بازگردد و دوباره متولد شود؟»

Nicodemus says to him; How is a man able to be born, being old? whether he is able to enter the second time into the womb of his mother, and be born?

5 عیسی جواب داد: «آنچه می‌گویم عین حقیقت است. تا کسی از آب و روح تولد نیابد، نمی‌تواند وارد ملکوت خدا شود.

Jesus responded, Truly, truly, I say unto thee, Unless any one may be born of water and Spirit, he is not able to enter into the kingdom of the heavens.

6 زندگی جسمانی را انسان تولید می‌کند، ولی زندگی روحانی را روح خدا از بالا می‌بخشد.

That which has been born of the flesh is flesh; and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit.

7 پس تعجب نکن که گفتم باید تولد تازه پیدا کنی.

Be not astonished because I said to thee; It behooveth you to be born from above.

8 درست همان‌گونه که صدای باد را می‌شنوی ولی نمی‌توانی بگویی از کجا می‌آید و به کجا می‌رود، در مورد تولد تازه نیز انسان نمی‌تواند پی ببرد که روح خدا آن را چگونه عطا می‌کند.»

The Spirit breathes on whom He willeth, and thou hearest His voice, but dost not know whence He cometh and whither He goeth; so is every one who has been born of the Spirit.

9 نیقودیموس پرسید: «منظورت چیست؟ من سخنانت را به درستی درک نمی‌کنم.»

Nicodemus responded and said to Him, How are these things able to he?

10 عیسی جواب داد: «نیقودیموس، تو از علمای دینی اسرائیل هستی؛ چگونه این چیزها را درک نمی‌کنی؟

Jesus responded and said to him, Art thou a teacher of Israel and knowest not these things?

11 براستی به تو می‌گویم که ما آنچه را که می‌دانیم و دیده‌ایم می‌گوییم ولی شما نمی‌توانید باور کنید.

Truly, truly, I say unto thee, that we speak what we know, and testify what we have seen; and you received not our testimony.

12 من از امور این دنیا با شما سخن می‌گویم و شما باور نمی‌کنید. پس اگر از امور آسمان با شما صحبت کنم چگونه باور خواهید کرد؟

If I spoke to you things upon the earth, and you do net believe, how will you believe, if I speak to you of things in heaven?

13 چون هیچ‌کس تا به حال به آسمان بالا نرفته که از آنجا برگشته باشد. اما پسر انسان از آسمان به این جهان آمده است.

No one hath ascended up into heaven, but the one having come down from heaven, the Son of man, who is in heaven.

14 همان‌گونه که موسی در بیابان مجسمه‌ای برنزی از مار را بر بالای چوبی بلند کرد، پسر انسان نیز باید بلند کرده شود،

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so does it behoove the Son of man to be lifted up:

15 تا هر که به او ایمان آوَرَد، حیات جاویدان یابد. (aiōnios g166)

that every one believing in Him may have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

16 زیرا خدا به قدری مردم جهان را دوست دارد که یگانه پسر خود را فرستاده است، تا هر که به او ایمان آورد، هلاک نشود بلکه زندگی جاوید بیابد. (aiōnios g166)

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one believing on Him may not perish but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)

17 خدا پسر خود را به جهان نفرستاد تا مردمان را محکوم سازد، بلکه تا جهان را به‌وسیلهٔ او نجات بخشد.

For God sent not His Son into the world that He may condemn the world; but that the world through Him may be saved.

18 «کسانی که به او ایمان بیاورند، هیچ نوع محکومیت و هلاکتی در انتظارشان نیست؛ ولی کسانی که به او ایمان نیاورند، از هم اکنون محکومند، چون به یگانه پسر خدا ایمان نیاورده‌اند.

He that believeth on Him is not condemned; but he that believeth not, has already been condemned, because he has not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19 محکومیت بی‌ایمانان به این دلیل است که نور از آسمان به این جهان آمد ولی مردم تاریکی را بیشتر از نور دوست داشتند، چون اعمال و رفتارشان بد است.

And this is the condemnation, that light has come into the world, and men love darkness rather than light; for their works are evil.

20 مردم از نور آسمانی نفرت دارند، چون می‌خواهند در تاریکی، گناه ورزند؛ پس به نور نزدیک نمی‌شوند، مبادا کارهای گناه‌آلودشان دیده شود و به سزای اعمالشان برسند.

For every one doing evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, in order that his works may not be convicted;

21 ولی درستکاران با شادی به سوی نور می‌آیند تا همه ببینند که آنچه می‌کنند، پسندیدهٔ خداست.»

but every one doing the truth comes to the light, that his works may be made manifest, because they have been wrought in God.

22 پس از آن، عیسی و شاگردانش اورشلیم را ترک گفتند. او مدتی در ناحیۀ یهودیه با اهالی آنجا به سر برد و ایشان را تعمید می‌داد.

After these things Jesus and His disciples came into the Judean country; and there He was tarrying with them and baptizing.

23 یحیی در این هنگام نزدیک سالیم در محلی به نام عینون مردم را تعمید می‌داد، چون در آنجا آب زیاد بود و مردم برای تعمید نزد وی می‌آمدند.

And John was also baptizing in Enon near Salim, because there were many waters there: and they came and baptized.

24 این پیش از آن بود که یحیی به زندان بیفتد.

For John was not yet cast into prison.

25 روزی، میان یکی از یهودیان و شاگردان یحیی بر سر آیین تطهیر بحثی درگرفت.

And there was a disputation of the disciples of John, concerning purifying.

26 شاگردان یحیی نزد او آمدند و گفتند: «استاد، آن شخصی که آن طرف رود اردن بود و گفتی که مسیح است، اکنون او نیز مردم را تعمید می‌دهد و همه نزد او می‌روند، در صورتی که باید پیش ما بیایند.»

And they came to John, and said to him, Rabbi, He who is with thee beyond the Jordan, to whom thou hast borne witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all are coming to Him.

27 یحیی جواب داد: «کسی نمی‌تواند چیزی دریافت کند، مگر آنچه که از آسمان به او عطا شود.

John responded and said, No man is able to receive anything, unless it may have been given unto him from heaven.

28 کار من این است که راه را برای مسیح باز کنم تا مردم همه نزد او بروند. شما خود شاهدید که من صریحاً گفتم که مسیح نیستم، بلکه آمده‌ام تا راه را برای او باز کنم.

You are witnessing to me, that I said, I am not the Christ, but that I am sent before Him.

29 در یک عروسی، عروس پیش داماد می‌رود و دوست داماد در شادی او شریک می‌شود. من نیز دوست دامادم و از خوشی داماد خوشحالم.

The one having the bride is the Bridegroom: but the friend of the Bridegroom is the one standing and hearing him, rejoiceth with joy on account of the Bridegroom: This, my joy has been made complete.

30 او باید روز‌به‌روز بزرگتر شود و من کوچکتر.

It behooveth Him to increase, and me to decrease.

31 «او از آسمان آمده و مقامش از همه بالاتر است. من از این زمین هستم و فقط امور زمینی را درک می‌کنم.

He that cometh from above is above all;

32 او آنچه را که دیده و شنیده است بیان می‌کند، ولی عدهٔ کمی سخنان او را باور می‌کنند.

the one being of the earth is of the earth, and speaks of the earth. The one coming from heaven witnesses what He has seen and heard, and no one receives His testimony.

33 کسی که سخنان او را باور می‌کند، تأیید می‌کند که خدا حقیقت است،

The one having received His testimony hath set his seal, that God is true.

34 زیرا او از جانب خدا فرستاده شده است. او کلام خدا را بیان می‌کند، چرا که خدا روح خود را بدون حد و حصر به او می‌بخشد.

For whom God sent speaketh the words of God: for He does not give His spirit by measure.

35 پدر آسمانی ما او را دوست می‌دارد، و همه چیز را به دست او سپرده است.

The Father loves the Son, and has given all things in His hands.

36 هر که به پسر خدا ایمان بیاورد، حیات جاویدان دارد. اما هر که از پسر خدا اطاعت نکند، هرگز حیات جاویدان را تجربه نخواهد کرد، بلکه خشم خدا بر او باقی می‌ماند.» (aiōnios g166)

He that believes on the Son has eternal life; but he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (aiōnios g166)
