ایوب 1
| در سرزمین عوص مردی زندگی می‌کرد به نام ایوب. او مردی بود درستکار و خداترس که از بدی و شرارت دوری می‌ورزید. | 1 |
There has been a man in the land of Uz—his name Job—and that man has been perfect and upright—both fearing God, and turning aside from evil.
| ایوب هفت پسر و سه دختر داشت. | 2 |
And seven sons and three daughters are borne to him,
| او صاحب هفت هزار گوسفند، سه هزار شتر، پانصد جفت گاو و پانصد الاغ ماده بود و خدمتکاران بسیاری داشت. ایوب ثروتمندترین مرد سراسر آن سرزمین به شمار می‌رفت. | 3 |
and his substance is seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred pairs of oxen, and five hundred female donkeys, and a very abundant service; and that man is greater than any of the sons of the east.
| هر یک از پسران ایوب به نوبت در خانهٔ خود جشنی بر پا می‌کرد و همهٔ برادران و خواهران خود را دعوت می‌نمود تا در آن جشن شرکت کنند. | 4 |
And his sons have gone and made a banquet—the house of each [in] his day—and have sent and called to their three sisters to eat and to drink with them;
| وقتی روزهای جشن به پایان می‌رسید، ایوب صبح زود برمی‌خاست و برای طهارت هر کدام از فرزندانش به خداوند قربانی سوختنی تقدیم می‌کرد. ایوب با خود فکر می‌کرد: «شاید فرزندانم گناه ورزیده و در دل خود به خدا لعن کرده باشند.» ایوب همیشه چنین می‌کرد. | 5 |
and it comes to pass, when they have gone around the days of the banquet, that Job sends and sanctifies them, and has risen early in the morning, and caused burnt-offerings to ascend—the number of them all—for Job said, “Perhaps my sons have sinned, yet blessed God in their heart.” Thus Job does all the days.
| یک روز که فرشتگان در حضور خداوند حاضر شده بودند، شیطان نیز همراه ایشان بود. | 6 |
And the day is, that sons of God come to station themselves by YHWH, and there also comes Satan in their midst.
| خداوند از شیطان پرسید: «کجا بودی؟» شیطان پاسخ داد: «دور زمین می‌گشتم و در آن سیر می‌کردم.» | 7 |
And YHWH says to Satan, “Where do you come from?” And Satan answers YHWH and says, “From going to and fro in the land, and from walking up and down on it.”
| آنگاه خداوند از او پرسید: «آیا بندهٔ من ایوب را دیدی؟ بر زمین، کسی مانند او پیدا نمی‌شود. او مردی بی‌عیب، صالح خداترس است و از گناه بدی و شرارت دوری می‌ورزد.» | 8 |
And YHWH says to Satan, “Have you set your heart against My servant Job because there is none like him in the land, a man perfect and upright, fearing God, and turning aside from evil?”
| شیطان گفت: «اگر خداترسی برای او سودی نمی‌داشت این کار را نمی‌کرد. | 9 |
And Satan answers YHWH and says, “Is Job fearing God for nothing?
| تو ایوب و خانواده و اموالش را از هر گزندی محفوظ داشته‌ای. دسترنج او را برکت داده‌ای و ثروت زیاد به او بخشیده‌ای. | 10 |
Have You not made a hedge for him, and for his house, and for all that he has—all around?
| دارایی‌اش را از او بگیر، آنگاه خواهی دید که آشکارا تو را لعن خواهد کرد!» | 11 |
You have blessed the work of his hands, and his substance has spread in the land, and yet, put forth Your hand now, and strike against anything that he has—if not, he blesses You to Your face!”
| خداوند در پاسخ شیطان گفت: «برو و هر کاری که می‌خواهی با دارایی‌اش بکن، فقط آسیبی به خود او نرسان.» پس شیطان از حضور خداوند بیرون رفت. | 12 |
And YHWH says to Satan, “Behold, all that he has [is] in your hand, only do not put forth your hand to him.” And Satan goes out from the presence of YHWH.
| یک روز وقتی پسران و دختران ایوب در خانهٔ برادر بزرگشان میهمان بودند، | 13 |
And the day is, that his sons and his daughters are eating and drinking wine in the house of their brother, the firstborn.
| قاصدی نزد ایوب آمد و به او گفت: «گاوهایت شخم می‌زدند و ماده الاغهایت کنار آنها می‌چریدند | 14 |
And a messenger has come to Job and says, “The oxen have been plowing, and the female donkeys feeding by their sides,
| که ناگهان سابی‌ها به ما حمله کرده، حیوانات را بردند و تمام کارگران تو را کشتند. تنها من جان به در بردم و آمدم تا به تو خبر دهم.» | 15 |
and Sheba falls, and takes them, and they have struck the young men by the mouth of the sword, and I have escaped—only I alone—to declare [it] to you.”
| سخنان این مرد هنوز پایان نیافته بود که قاصد دیگری از راه رسیده، گفت: «آتش خدا از آسمان نازل شده، تمام گوسفندان و همهٔ چوپانانت را سوزاند و تنها من جان به در برده، آمدم تا به تو خبر دهم.» | 16 |
While this [one] is speaking another has also come and says, “Fire of God has fallen from the heavens, and burns among the flock, and among the young men, and consumes them, and I have escaped—only I alone—to declare [it] to you.”
| پیش از آنکه حرفهای وی تمام شود قاصدی دیگر وارد شده، گفت: «کلدانیان در سه دسته به ما حمله کردند و شترهایت را بردند و کارگرانت را کشتند، تنها من جان به در بردم و آمده‌ام تا به تو خبر دهم.» | 17 |
While this [one] is speaking another also has come and says, “Chaldeans made three heads, and rush on the camels, and take them, and they have struck the young men by the mouth of the sword, and I have escaped—only I alone—to declare [it] to you.”
| سخنان آن قاصد هم هنوز تمام نشده بود که قاصد دیگری از راه رسید و گفت: «پسران و دخترانت در خانهٔ برادر بزرگشان میهمان بودند، | 18 |
While this [one] is speaking another has also come and says, “Your sons and your daughters are eating, and drinking wine, in the house of their brother, the firstborn.
| که ناگهان باد شدیدی از طرف بیابان وزیده، خانه را بر سر ایشان خراب کرد و همه زیر آوار جان سپردند و تنها من جان به در بردم و آمده‌ام تا این خبر را به تو برسانم.» | 19 |
And behold, a great wind has come from over the wilderness, and strikes against the four corners of the house, and it falls on the young men, and they are dead, and I have escaped—only I alone—to declare [it] to you.”
| آنگاه ایوب برخاسته، از شدت غم لباس خود را پاره کرد. سپس موی سر خود را تراشید و در حضور خدا به خاک افتاده، | 20 |
And Job rises, and tears his robe, and shaves his head, and falls to the earth, and pays respect,
| گفت: «از شکم مادر برهنه به دنیا آمدم و برهنه هم از این دنیا خواهم رفت. خداوند داد و خداوند گرفت. نام خداوند متبارک باد.» | 21 |
and he says, “I came forth naked from the womb of my mother, And naked I return there. YHWH has given and YHWH has taken; Let the Name of YHWH be blessed.”
| با همهٔ این پیش‌آمدها، ایوب گناه نکرد و به خدا ناسزا نگفت. | 22 |
In all this Job has not sinned, nor given folly to God.
