ایوب 8
| آنگاه بلدد شوحی پاسخ داد: | 1 |
Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said,
| ای ایوب، تا به کی به این حرفها ادامه می‌دهی؟ حرفهای تو باد هواست! | 2 |
How long wilt thou speak these [things]? and [how long shall] the words of thy mouth [be like] a strong wind?
| آیا خدای قادر مطلق عدالت و انصاف را زیر پا می‌گذارد؟ | 3 |
Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice?
| فرزندانت به خدا گناه کردند و او به حق، ایشان را مجازات نمود. | 4 |
If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression;
| ولی اکنون تو به درگاه خدای قادر مطلق دعا کن. | 5 |
If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty;
| اگر آدم پاک و خوبی باشی، او دعایت را می‌شنود و تو را اجابت می‌کند و خانهٔ تو را برکت می‌دهد. | 6 |
If thou [wert] pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.
| عاقبت تو آنچنان از خیر و برکت سرشار خواهد شد که زندگی گذشته‌ات در برابر آن ناچیز به نظر خواهد آمد. | 7 |
Though thy beginning was small, yet thy latter end should greatly increase.
| از سالخوردگان بپرس تا از تجربهٔ خود به تو بیاموزند. | 8 |
For enquire, I pray thee, of the former age, and prepare thyself to the search of their fathers:
| ما آنقدر زندگی نکرده‌ایم که همه چیز را بدانیم. | 9 |
(For we [are but of] yesterday, and know nothing, because our days upon earth [are] a shadow: )
| تو می‌توانی از حکمت گذشتگان درس عبرت بگیری و آنها به تو خواهند گفت که | 10 |
Shall not they teach thee, [and] tell thee, and utter words out of their heart?
| آیا گیاه پاپیروس می‌تواند خارج از مرداب بروید؟ آیا علف مرداب بدون آب نمی‌میرد؟ | 11 |
Can the rush grow up without mire? can the flag grow without water?
| آیا در حالی که هنوز سبز است و آماده بریدن نیست پژمرده نمی‌شود؟ | 12 |
Whilst it [is] yet in his greenness, [and] not cut down, it withereth before any [other] herb.
| همچنین است سرنوشت آنانی که خدا را فراموش می‌کنند. امید شخص بی‌خدا ناپایدار است. | 13 |
So [are] the paths of all that forget God; and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish:
| شخص بی‌خدا مانند کسی است که به تار عنکبوت اعتماد کند. | 14 |
Whose hope shall be cut off, and whose trust [shall be] a spider’s web.
| اگر به آن تکیه نماید، می‌افتد و اگر از آن آویزان شود، آن تار او را نگه نمی‌دارد. | 15 |
He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand: he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.
| او مانند گیاهی است که صبحگاهان تر و تازه می‌شود و شاخه‌هایش در باغ گسترده می‌گردند. | 16 |
He [is] green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
| در میان سنگها ریشه می‌دواند و خود را محکم نگه می‌دارد. | 17 |
His roots are wrapped about the heap, [and] seeth the place of stones.
| ولی وقتی آن را از ریشه می‌کنند دیگر کسی آن را به یاد نمی‌آورد، | 18 |
If he destroy him from his place, then [it] shall deny him, [saying], I have not seen thee.
| و گیاهان دیگری روییده جای آن را می‌گیرند. چنین است عاقبت شخص بی‌خدا. | 19 |
Behold, this [is] the joy of his way, and out of the earth shall others grow.
| ولی بدان که خدا نیکان را ترک نمی‌گوید و بدکاران را کامیاب نمی‌گرداند. | 20 |
Behold, God will not cast away a perfect [man], neither will he help the evil doers:
| او بار دیگر دهانت را از خنده و فریادهای شادی پر خواهد کرد، | 21 |
Till he fill thy mouth with laughing, and thy lips with rejoicing.
| و دشمنانت را رسوا و خانهٔ شریران را خراب خواهد نمود. | 22 |
They that hate thee shall be clothed with shame; and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
