ایوب 37

1 دل من می‌لرزد؛

At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of its place.

2 گوش دهید و غرش صدای خدا را بشنوید.

Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound [that] goeth out of his mouth.

3 او برق خود را به سراسر آسمان می‌فرستد.

He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning to the ends of the earth.

4 سپس غرش صدای او شنیده می‌شود، غرش مهیب رعد به گوش می‌رسد و باز برق، آسمان را روشن می‌کند.

After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellence; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.

5 صدای او در رعد باشکوه است. ما نمی‌توانیم عظمت قدرت او را درک کنیم.

God thundereth marvelously with his voice; great things he doeth, which we cannot comprehend.

6 وقتی او برف و باران شدید بر زمین می‌فرستد،

For he saith to the snow, Be thou [on] the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.

7 مردم از کار کردن باز می‌مانند و متوجه قدرت او می‌شوند،

He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.

8 حیوانات وحشی به پناهگاه خود می‌شتابند و در لانه‌های خویش پنهان می‌مانند.

Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.

9 از جنوب طوفان می‌آید و از شمال سرما.

From the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold from the north.

10 خدا بر آبها می‌دمد، به طوری که حتی وسیعترین دریاها نیز یخ می‌بندد.

By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.

11 او ابرها را از رطوبت، سنگین می‌کند و برق خود را به‌وسیلۀ آنها پراکنده می‌سازد.

Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:

12 آنها به دستور او به حرکت در می‌آیند و احکام او را در سراسر زمین به جا می‌آورند.

And it is turned around by his counsels: that they may do whatever he commandeth them upon the face of the world on the earth.

13 او ابرها را برای مجازات مردم و یا برای سیراب کردن زمین و نشان دادن رحمتش به ایشان، می‌فرستد.

He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.

14 ای ایوب، گوش بده و دربارهٔ اعمال شگفت‌آور خدا تأمل و تفکر کن.

Hearken to this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.

15 آیا تو می‌دانی که خدا چگونه تمام طبیعت را اداره نموده، برق را از ابرها ساطع می‌کند؟

Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?

16 آیا تو می‌دانی چگونه ابرها در هوا معلق می‌مانند؟ آیا تو عظمت این کار خدا را می‌توانی درک کنی؟

Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him who is perfect in knowledge?

17 آیا وقتی زمین زیر وزش باد گرم جنوب قرار دارد و لباسهایت از گرما به تنت چسبیده است،

How thy garments [are] warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south [wind]?

18 تو می‌توانی به خدا کمک کنی تا وضع آسمان را که مانند فلز سخت است تغییر دهد؟

Hast thou with him spread out the sky [which is] strong, [and] as a molten looking-glass?

19 آیا تو می‌توانی به ما بگویی چگونه باید با خدا مواجه شد؟ ما با این فکر تاریکمان نمی‌دانیم چگونه با او سخن گوییم.

Teach us what we shall say to him; [for] we cannot order [our speech] by reason of darkness.

20 من با چه جرأتی با خدا صحبت کنم؟ چرا خود را به کشتن دهم؟

Shall it be told him that I speak? If a man shall speak, surely he will be swallowed up.

21 همان‌طور که در یک روز آفتابی بی‌ابر، نمی‌توانیم به تابش خورشید نگاه کنیم،

And now [men] see not the bright light which [is] in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.

22 همچنان نیز نمی‌توانیم به جلال پرشکوه خدا که از آسمان با درخشندگی خیره‌کننده‌ای بر ما نمایان می‌شود خیره شویم.

Fair weather cometh from the north: with God [is] terrible majesty.

23 ما نمی‌توانیم به قدرت خدای قادر مطلق پی ببریم. او نسبت به ما عادل و رحیم است و بر کسی ظلم نمی‌کند،

[Touching] the Almighty, we cannot find him out: [he is] excellent in power, and in judgment, and in abundance of justice: he will not afflict.

24 و تحت تأثیر داناترین مردم جهان نیز قرار نمی‌گیرد، از این جهت ترس و احترام او در دل همهٔ مردم جا دارد.

Men therefore fear him: he respecteth not any [that are] wise of heart.
