ایوب 36

1 حوصله کن و به آنچه که دربارهٔ خدا می‌گویم گوش بده.

And Elihu proceeded and said,

2

Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet words for God.

3 من با دانش وسیع خود به تو نشان خواهم داد که خالق من عادل است.

I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Creator.

4 بدان کسی که در مقابل تو ایستاده، مردی فاضل است و آنچه می‌گوید عین حقیقت می‌باشد.

For truly my words shall be no falsehood: one perfect in knowledge is with thee.

5 فهم و دانایی خدا کامل است. او قادر به انجام هر کاری است، با وجود این کسی را خوار نمی‌شمارد.

Lo, God is mighty, but despiseth not [any]; mighty in strength of understanding:

6 او بدکاران را بی‌سزا نمی‌گذارد و به داد مظلومان می‌رسد.

He saveth not the wicked alive; but he doeth justice to the afflicted.

7 از نیکان حمایت کرده، آنها را چون پادشاهان سرافراز می‌نماید و عزت ابدی به آنها می‌بخشد.

He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous, but with kings on the throne doth he even set them for ever; and they are exalted.

8 هرگاه در زحمت بیفتند و اسیر و گرفتار شوند،

And if, bound in fetters, they be held in cords of affliction,

9 خدا اعمال گناه‌آلود و تکبر ایشان را که موجب گرفتاریشان شده به آنها نشان می‌دهد

Then he sheweth them their work, and their transgressions, because they have increased.

10 و به ایشان کمک می‌کند که به سخنان او توجه نمایند و از گناه دست بکشند.

And he openeth their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.

11 اگر به او گوش داده، از او اطاعت کنند، آنگاه تمام عمر شادمان و خوشبخت خواهند بود؛

If they hearken and serve [him], they shall accomplish their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

12 و اگر گوش ندهند، در جنگ هلاک شده، در جهل و نادانی خواهند مرد.

But if they hearken not, they shall pass away by the sword, and expire without knowledge.

13 اشخاص خدانشناس در دل خود خشم را می‌پرورانند و حتی وقتی خدا آنها را تنبیه می‌کند از او کمک نمی‌طلبند.

But the godless in heart heap up anger; they cry not when he bindeth them:

14 آنها به سوی فساد و هرزگی کشیده می‌شوند و در عنفوان جوانی می‌میرند.

Their soul dieth in youth, and their life is among the unclean.

15 خدا به‌وسیلۀ سختی و مصیبت با انسان سخن می‌گوید و او را از رنجهایش می‌رهاند.

But he delivereth the afflicted in his affliction, and openeth their ear in [their] oppression.

16 خدا می‌خواهد تو را از این سختی و مصیبت برهاند و تو را کامیاب سازد تا بتوانی در امنیت و وفور نعمت زندگی کنی.

Even so would he have allured thee out of the jaws of distress into a broad place, where there is no straitness; and the supply of thy table [would be] full of fatness.

17 اما در حال حاضر فکرت با داوری شریران درگیر است. نگران نباش داوری و عدالت اجرا خواهند شد.

But thou art full of the judgments of the wicked: judgment and justice take hold [on thee].

18 مواظب باش کسی با رشوه و ثروت، تو را از راه راست منحرف نسازد.

Because there is wrath, [beware] lest it take thee away through chastisement: then a great ransom could not avail thee.

19 فریاد تو به جایی نخواهد رسید و با همۀ تلاشهای سختت نمی‌توانی از این تنگنا آزاد شوی.

Will he esteem thy riches? Not gold, nor all the resources of strength!

20 در آرزوی فرا رسیدن شب نباش، تا مردم را از مکانشان بیرون بِکِشی.

Desire not the night, when peoples are cut off from their place.

21 از گناه دوری کن، زیرا خدا این گرفتاری را به همین سبب فرستاده است تا تو را از گناه دور نگه دارد.

Take heed, turn not to iniquity; for this hast thou chosen rather than affliction.

22 بدان که قدرت خدا برتر از هر قدرتی است. کیست که مثل او بتواند به انسان تعلیم دهد؟

Lo, God is exalted in his power: who teacheth as he?

23 چه کسی می‌تواند چیزی به خدا یاد دهد و یا او را به بی‌انصافی متهم سازد؟

Who hath appointed him his way? or who hath said, Thou hast wrought unrighteousness?

24 به یاد داشته باش که کارهای او را تجلیل کنی، کارهایی که مردمان در وصف آنها سراییده‌اند.

Remember that thou magnify his work, which men celebrate.

25 همهٔ مردم کارهای خدا را مشاهده می‌کنند، هر چند از درک کامل آنها عاجزند.

All men look at it; man beholdeth [it] afar off.

26 زیرا خدا به قدری عظیم است که نمی‌توان او را آنچنان که باید شناخت و به ازلیت وی پی برد.

Lo, God is great, and we comprehend [him] not, neither can the number of his years be searched out.

27 او بخار آب را به بالا می‌فرستد و آن را به باران تبدیل می‌کند.

For he draweth up the drops of water: they distil in rain from the vapour which he formeth,

28 سپس ابرها آن را به فراوانی برای انسان فرو می‌ریزند.

Which the skies pour down [and] drop upon man abundantly.

29 آیا واقعاً کسی چگونگی گسترده شدن ابرها در آسمان و برخاستن غرش رعد از درون آنها را می‌فهمد؟

But can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, [or] the crashing of his pavilion?

30 ببینید چگونه سراسر آسمان را با برق روشن می‌سازد، ولی اعماق دریا همچنان تاریک می‌ماند.

Lo, he spreadeth his light around him, and covereth the bottom of the sea.

31 خدا با کارهای حیرت‌انگیز خود غذای فراوان در دسترس همهٔ انسانها قرار می‌دهد.

For with them he judgeth the peoples; he giveth food in abundance.

32 او دستهای خود را با تیرهای آتشین برق پر می‌کند و هر یک از آنها را به سوی هدف پرتاب می‌نماید.

[His] hands he covereth with lightning, and commandeth it where it is to strike.

33 رعد او از فرا رسیدن طوفان خبر می‌دهد؛ و حتی حیوانات نیز از آمدن آن آگاه می‌شوند.

His thundering declareth concerning him; the cattle even, concerning its coming.
