ارمیا 24

1 پس از آنکه نِبوکَدنِصَّر، پادشاه بابِل، یهویاکین (پسر یهویاقیم) پادشاه یهودا را همراه با بزرگان یهودا و صنعتگران و آهنگران به بابِل به اسارت برد، خداوند در رؤیا، دو سبد انجیر به من نشان داد که در مقابل خانهٔ خداوند در اورشلیم قرار داشتند.

Yahweh shewed me, and lo! two baskets of figs, which had been set before the temple of Yahweh, —after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive, Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim king of Judah and the princes of Judah and the carpenters and the smiths out of Jerusalem, and had brought them into Babylon: —

2 در یک سبد انجیرهای رسیده و تازه بودند و در سبد دیگر انجیرهای بد و گندیده‌ای که نمی‌شد خورد.

the one basket, was of very good figs, like the first-ripe figs; and, the other basket, was of very bad figs, which could not be eaten for badness.

3 خداوند به من فرمود: «ارمیا، چه می‌بینی؟» جواب دادم: «انجیر! انجیرهای خوب خیلی خوبند؛ ولی انجیرهای بد آنقدر بدند که نمی‌شود خورد.»

Then said Yahweh unto me, —What canst thou see, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs: the good figs, very good; and the bad, very bad, which cannot be eaten, for badness.

4 آنگاه کلام خداوند بر من نازل شده، گفت:

Then came the word of Yahweh unto me, saying:

5 «یهوه خدای اسرائیل چنین می‌فرماید:”انجیرهای خوب نمونهٔ تبعیدیان یهوداست که از این سرزمین به بابِل فرستاده‌ام.

Thus, saith Yahweh God of Israel, Like these good figs, so, will I regard them of Judah who are carried into captivity, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans, for good.

6 من بر آنان نظر لطف انداخته، مراقب خواهم بود که در آنجا با ایشان خوش‌رفتاری شود و ایشان را به این سرزمین باز خواهم گرداند؛ من نخواهم گذاشت ایشان ریشه‌کن و نابود شوند بلکه ایشان را حمایت کرده، استوار خواهم ساخت.

Therefore will I set mine eye upon them for good, and will bring them back upon this land, —and will build them up, and not pull them down, and will plant them and not root them up;

7 به ایشان دلی خواهم داد که مشتاق شناخت من باشد؛ آنها قوم من خواهند شد و من خدای ایشان، چون با تمام دل نزد من باز خواهند گشت.“

and will give them a heart to know, me, that, I, am Yahweh, So shall they become my people, And, I, will become their God; for they will return unto me with all their heart.

8 «ولی انجیرهای بد، نمونهٔ صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا، اطرافیان او و بقیهٔ مردم اورشلیم است که در این سرزمین باقی مانده‌اند و یا در مصر ساکنند. من با ایشان همان کاری را خواهم کرد که با انجیرهای گندیدهٔ بی‌مصرف می‌کنند.

And like the bad figs, which cannot be eaten for badness, Surely thus, saith Yahweh—so, will I deliver up Zedekiah king of Judah, and his princes and the remnant of Jerusalem that remain in this land, and them who are dwelling in the land of Egypt;

9 ایشان را مورد نفرت تمام مردم دنیا قرار خواهم داد و در هر جایی که ایشان را آواره کنم، مورد تمسخر، سرزنش و نفرین واقع خواهند شد.

yea I will deliver them up, as a terror of calamity, to all the kingdoms of the earth, —as a reproach and as a byword, as a mockery and as a contempt, in every place whither I will drive them;

10 همه را گرفتار جنگ و قحطی و بیماری خواهم نمود تا از سرزمین اسرائیل که آن را به ایشان و به پدرانشان دادم، محو و نابود شوند.»

and I will send among them, sword famine and pestilence, —until they are consumed from off the soil which I gave to them and to their fathers.
