اشعیا 38

1 در آن روزها حِزِقیا سخت بیمار شد و نزدیک بود بمیرد. اشعیای نبی (پسر آموص) به عیادتش رفت و از جانب خداوند این پیغام را به او داد: «وصیتت را بکن، چون عمرت به آخر رسیده است؛ تو از این مرض شفا نخواهی یافت.»

In tho daies Esechie was sijk `til to the deth; and Isaie, the profete, the sone of Amos, entride to hym, and seide to hym, The Lord seith these thingis, Dispose thi hous, for thou schalt die, and thou schalt not lyue.

2 حِزِقیا صورت خود را به طرف دیوار برگردانید و نزد خداوند دعا کرده، گفت:

And Esechie turnede his face to the wal, and preiede the Lord, and seide, Lord, Y biseche;

3 «خداوندا، به خاطر آور چقدر نسبت به تو وفادار و امین بوده‌ام و چطور سعی کرده‌ام مطابق میل تو رفتار کنم.» سپس بغض گلویش را گرفت و به تلخی گریست.

haue thou mynde, Y biseche, hou Y yede bifore thee in treuthe, and in perfit herte, and Y dide that that was good bifore thin iyen. And Ezechye wept with greet wepyng.

4 پیش از آنکه اشعیا قصر را ترک کند خداوند بار دیگر با او سخن گفت و فرمود:

And the word of the Lord was maad to Isaie, and seide,

5 «نزد حِزِقیا رهبر قوم من برگرد و به او بگو که یهوه، خدای جدت داوود دعای تو را شنیده و اشکهایت را دیده است. او پانزده سال دیگر بر عمر تو خواهد افزود.

Go thou, and seie to Ezechye, The Lord God of Dauid, thi fadir, seith these thingis, I haue herd thi preier, and Y siy thi teeris. Lo! Y schal adde on thi daies fiftene yeer;

6 او تو را و این شهر را از چنگ پادشاه آشور نجات خواهد داد.»

and Y schal delyuere thee and this citee fro the hond of the kyng of Assiriens, and Y schal defende it.

7 اشعیا به او گفت: «برای اینکه بدانی سخنانی را که خداوند به تو گفته، انجام خواهد داد، او علامتی به تو می‌دهد.

Forsothe this schal be to thee a signe of the Lord, that the Lord schal do this word, which he spak.

8 آن علامت این است که خداوند سایهٔ ساعت آفتابی آحاز را ده درجه به عقب بر می‌گرداند.» پس سایهٔ آفتاب ده درجه به عقب برگشت.

Lo! Y schal make the schadewe of lynes, bi which it yede doun in the orologie of Achas, in the sunne, to turne ayen backward bi ten lynes. And the sunne turnede ayen bi ten lynes, bi degrees bi whiche it hadde go doun.

9 وقتی حِزِقیای پادشاه از بیماری‌ای که داشت شفا یافت این شعر را سرایید:

The scripture of Ezechie, kyng of Juda, whanne he hadde be sijk, and hadde rekyuered of his sikenesse.

10 فکر می‌کردم در بهار عمر خویش زندگی را بدرود خواهم گفت، و به دنیای مردگان خواهم شتافت. (Sheol h7585)

I seide, in the myddil of my daies Y schal go to the yatis of helle. Y souyte the residue of my yeeris; (Sheol h7585)

11 فکر می‌کردم در این دنیای زندگان دیگر هرگز خداوند را نخواهم دید و نگاهم بر هیچ انسانی نخواهد افتاد.

Y seide, Y schal not se the Lord God in the lond of lyueris; Y schal no more biholde a man, and a dwellere of reste.

12 مانند خیمهٔ شبانان که پایین می‌کشند و جمع می‌کنند، حیات من فرو می‌ریخت؛ همچون پارچهٔ دستباف که از دستگاه بافندگی جدا می‌کنند، رشتهٔ عمرم پاره می‌شد.

My generacioun is takun awei, and is foldid togidere fro me, as the tabernacle of scheepherdis is foldid togidere. Mi lijf is kit doun as of a webbe; he kittide doun me, the while Y was wouun yit. Fro the morewtid `til to the euentid thou schalt ende me;

13 تمام شب ناله و زاری می‌کردم، گویی شیری دنده‌هایم را خرد می‌کرد؛ فکر می‌کردم خدا جانم را می‌گیرد.

Y hopide til to the morewtid; as a lioun, so he al to-brak alle my boonys. Fro the morewtid til to the euentid thou schalt ende me; as the brid of a swalewe, so Y schal crie;

14 صدایم به زحمت شنیده می‌شد، مانند قمری می‌نالیدم. از بس به آسمان چشم دوخته بودم، چشمانم ضعیف شده بود. دعا کردم که خداوند کمکم کند.

Y schal bithenke as a culuer. Myn iyen biholdynge an hiy, ben maad feble. Lord, Y suffre violence, answere thou for me; what schal Y seie,

15 چه بگویم که خداوند مرا بدین روز انداخته بود. از تلخی جان، خواب از چشمانم رفته بود.

ether what schal answere to me, whanne `I mysilf haue do? Y schal bithenke to thee alle my yeeris, in the bitternisse of my soule.

16 ای خداوند، تنبیه تو مفید است و به انسان حیات می‌بخشد. تو مرا سلامتی و شفا بخشیدی تو عمر دوباره به من دادی.

Lord, if me lyueth so, and the lijf of my spirit is in siche thingis, thou schalt chastise me, and schalt quykene me.

17 بله، به نفع من شد که این همه زحمت دیدم. زیرا تو مرا محبت کردی، از مرگ نجاتم دادی و همهٔ گناهان مرا بخشیدی و فراموش کردی.

Lo! my bitternesse is moost bittir in pees; forsothe thou hast delyuered my soule, that it perischide not; thou hast caste awey bihynde thi bak alle my synnes.

18 کسی در دنیای مردگان نمی‌تواند تو را تمجید کند، و یا به وفاداریت توکل کند. (Sheol h7585)

For not helle schal knowleche to thee, nethir deth schal herie thee; thei that goon doun in to the lake, schulen not abide thi treuthe. (Sheol h7585)

19 زندگانند که تو را ستایش می‌کنند، چنانکه من امروز تو را سپاس می‌گویم. بله، زندگانند که برای فرزندان خود تعریف می‌کنند که تو امین و وفادار هستی.

A lyuynge man, a lyuynge man, he schal knouleche to thee, as and Y to dai; the fadir schal make knowun thi treuthe to sones.

20 خداوندا، تو مرا شفا دادی، و من در تمام روزهای عمرم تو را با سرود ستایش خواهم کرد.

Lord, make thou me saaf, and we schulen synge oure salmes in all the daies of oure lijf in the hous of the Lord.

21 و اما اشعیا به افراد حِزِقیای پادشاه گفته بود که مقداری انجیر بگیرند و آن را له کرده، روی دمل حِزِقیا بگذارند و او شفا خواهد یافت.

And Ysaie comaundide, that thei schulden take a gobet of figus, and make a plaster on the wounde; and it schulde be heelid.

22 و حِزِقیا پرسیده بود: «برای اینکه ثابت شود که خداوند مرا شفا خواهد داد و من خواهم توانست به خانهٔ خداوند بروم او چه نشانه‌ای به من می‌دهد؟»

And Ezechie seide, What signe schal be, that Y schal stie in to the hous of the Lord?
