اشعیا 28

1 وای بر سامره! وای بر این شهری که با دره‌های حاصلخیز احاطه شده و مایۀ افتخار میگساران اسرائیل است! شراب، رهبران اسرائیل را از پای درآورده است. جلال اسرائیل که همانند تاج گلی بر سر رهبرانش بود، در حال پژمردن است.

Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower the glory of his joy, who were on the head of the fat valley, staggering with wine.

2 خداوند کسی را دارد که زورآور و توانا است. خداوند او را مانند تگرگ شدید و طوفان مهلک و سیلاب خروشان بر سرزمین اسرائیل می‌فرستد تا آن را فرا بگیرد.

Behold the Lord is mighty and strong, as a storm of hail: a destroying whirlwind, as the violence of many waters overflowing, and sent forth upon a spacious land.

3 آنگاه شهری که مایهٔ افتخار میگساران اسرائیل است زیر پاها پایمال خواهد شد.

The crown of pride of the drunkards of Ephraim shall be trodden under feet.

4 شکوه و زیبایی دره‌های حاصلخیز آن ناگهان از بین خواهد رفت درست مانند نوبر انجیر که به محض دیده شدن بر سر شاخه‌ها، چیده و خورده می‌شود.

And the fading flower the glory of his joy, who is on the head of the fat valley, shall be as a hasty fruit before the ripeness of autumn: which when he that seeth it shall behold, as soon as he taketh it in his hand, he will eat it up.

5 روزی خواهد آمد که خداوند لشکرهای آسمان، خود برای بازماندگان قومش تاج جلال و زیبایی خواهد بود.

In that day the Lord of hosts shall be a crown of glory, and a garland of joy to the residue of his people:

6 او به قضات توانایی تشخیص خواهد بخشید و به سربازان قدرت خواهد داد تا از دروازه‌های شهر دفاع کنند.

And a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and strength to them that return out of the battle to the gate.

7 اما اینک اشخاص مست اورشلیم را اداره می‌کنند! حتی کاهنان و انبیا نیز مستند؛ شراب ایشان را چنان مست و گیج کرده که قادر نیستند پیامهای خدا را دریابند و آنها را به مردم رسانده، آنان را ارشاد کنند.

But these also have been ignorant through wine, and through drunkenness have erred: the priest and the prophet have been ignorant through drunkenness, they are swallowed up with wine, they have gone astray in drunkenness, they have not known him that seeth, they have been ignorant of judgment.

8 سفره‌هایشان پر از استفراغ و کثافت است و هیچ جای پاکیزه‌ای دیده نمی‌شود.

For all tables were full of vomit and filth, so that there was no more place.

9 آنها می‌گویند: «اشعیا به چه کسی تعلیم می‌دهد؟ چه کسی به تعلیم او احتیاج دارد؟ تعلیم او فقط برای بچه‌ها خوب است!

Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand the hearing? them that are weaned from the milk, that are drawn away from the breasts.

10 او هر مطلبی را بارها برای ما تکرار می‌کند و کلمه به کلمه توضیح می‌دهد.»

For command, command again; command, command again; expect, expect again; expect, expect again: a little there, a little there.

11 چون مردم به این تعلیم گوش نمی‌دهند، خدا قوم بیگانه‌ای را خواهد فرستاد تا به زبان بیگانه با قوم خود سخن بگوید!

For with the speech of lips, and with another tongue he will speak to this people.

12 خدا به قوم خود فرموده بود: «اینجا جای استراحت است؛ پس خستگان استراحت کنند. اینجا مکان آرامی است.» اما ایشان نخواستند بشنوند.

To whom he said: This is my rest, refresh the weary, and this is my refreshing: and they would not hear.

13 پس خداوند هر مطلبی را بارها برای ایشان تکرار خواهد کرد و آن را کلمه به کلمه توضیح خواهد داد. این قوم افتاده، خرد خواهند شد و در دام خواهند افتاد و سرانجام اسیر خواهند شد.

And the word of the Lord shall be to them: Command, command again; command, command again: expect, expect again; expect, expect again: a little there, a little there: that they may go, and fall backward, and be broken, and snared, and taken.

14 پس ای حکمرانان اورشلیم که همه چیز را به باد مسخره می‌گیرید، به آنچه خداوند می‌فرماید توجه کنید.

Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, who rule over my people that is in Jerusalem.

15 شما با فخر می‌گویید: «با مرگ معامله کرده‌ایم و با دنیای مردگان قرارداد بسته‌ایم. اطمینان داریم که هرگاه مصیبتی رخ دهد هیچ گزندی به ما نخواهد رسید؛ زیرا با دروغ و فریب برای خود مخفیگاه ساخته‌ایم.» (Sheol h7585)

For you have said: We have entered into a league with death, and we have made a covenant with hell. When the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come upon us: for we have placed our hope in lies, and by falsehood we are protected. (Sheol h7585)

16 پس خداوند یهوه چنین می‌فرماید: «اینک من سنگ بنیادی در صهیون می‌نهم، سنگ گرانبها و آزموده شده. این یک سنگ زاویۀ مطمئنی است که می‌شود بر آن بنا کرد. هر که توکل کند ترسان و لرزان نخواهد شد.

Therefore thus saith the Lord God: Behold I will lay a stone in the foundations of Sion, a tried stone, a corner stone, a precious stone, founded in the foundation. He that believeth, let him not hasten.

17 انصاف، ریسمان آن و عدالت، شاقول آن خواهد بود.» بارش تگرگ پناهگاه شما را که بر دروغ استوار است ویران خواهد کرد و سیل مخفیگاه شما را خواهد برد.

And I will set judgment in weight, and justice in measure: and hail shall overturn the hope of falsehood: and waters shall overflow its protection.

18 قراردادی که با مرگ و دنیای مردگان بسته‌اید باطل خواهد شد، بنابراین وقتی مصیبت بیاید شما را از پای درمی‌آورد. (Sheol h7585)

And Sour league with death shall be abolished, and your covenant with hell shall not stand: when the overflowing scourge shall pass, you shall be trodden down by it. (Sheol h7585)

19 مصیبت روز و شب به سراغتان خواهد آمد و شما را گرفتار خواهد کرد. هر بار که پیامی از خدا بشنوید وحشت سراپایتان را فرا خواهد گرفت.

Whensoever it shall pass through, it shall take you away: because in the morning early it shall pass through, in the day and in the night, and vexation alone shall make you understand what you hear.

20 شما مانند کسی خواهید بود که می‌خواهد بخوابد اما بسترش کوتاهتر از آنست که بر آن دراز بکشد و لحافش تنگ‌تر از آنکه او را بپوشاند.

For the bed is straitened, so that one must fall out, and a short covering cannot cover both.

21 خداوند با خشم و غضب خواهد آمد تا کارهای شگفت‌انگیز خود را به انجام رساند همان‌گونه که در کوه فراصیم و درهٔ جبعون این کار را کرد.

For the Lord shall stand up as in the mountain of divisions: he shall be angry as in the valley which is in Gabaon: that he may do his work, his strange work: that he may perform his work, his work is strange to him.

22 پس، از تمسخر دست بردارید مبادا مجازات شما سنگینتر شود، زیرا خداوند، خداوند لشکرهای آسمان به من گفته که قصد دارد تمام زمین را نابود کند.

And now do not mock, lest your bonds be tied strait. For I have heard of the Lord the God of hosts a consumption and a cutting short upon all the earth.

23 به من گوش کنید! به سخنان من توجه کنید!

Give ear, and hear my voice, hearken, and hear my speech.

24 آیا کشاورز تمام وقت خود را صرف شخم زدن زمین می‌کند و در آن هیچ بذری نمی‌کارد؟ آیا او فقط به آماده کردن خاک سرگرم است و بس؟

Shall the ploughman plough all the day to sow, shall he open and harrow his ground?

25 البته او می‌داند که باید آن را آماده کند تا در آن تخم بکارد. می‌داند تخم گشنیز و زیره را کجا بپاشد و بذر گندم و جو و ذرت را کجا بکارد.

Will he not, when he hath made plain the surface thereof, sow gith, and scatter cummin, and put wheat in order, and barley, and millet, and vetches in their bounds?

26 او می‌داند چه کند زیرا خدایش به او یاد داده است.

For he will instruct him in judgment: his God will teach him.

27 او هرگز برای کوبیدن گشنیز و زیره از خرمنکوب استفاده نمی‌کند، بلکه با چوب آنها را می‌کوبد.

For gith shall not be thrashed with saws, neither shall the cart wheel turn about upon cummin: but gith shall be beaten out with a rod, and cummin with a staff.

28 برای تهیهٔ آرد، او می‌داند چه مدت باید گندم را خرمنکوبی کند و چگونه چرخ ارابهٔ خود را بر آن بگرداند بدون اینکه اسبان ارابه، گندم را له کنند.

But bread corn shall be broken small: but the thrasher shall not thrash it for ever, neither shall the cart wheel hurt it, nor break it with its teeth.

29 تمام این دانش از خداوند لشکرهای آسمان که رأی و حکمتش عجیب و عظیم است صادر می‌گردد.

This also is come forth from the Lord God of hosts, to make his counsel wonderful, and magnify justice.
