اشعیا 21

1 این پیام برای بابِل است: مهاجمی از سرزمین دهشت، مانند گردباد بیابانی، به سوی بابِل می‌آید.

The prophecy concerning the desert of the sea. As storms which rush along through the south, So it cometh from the desert, From the terrible land.

2 رؤیای ترسناکی می‌بینم، رویای خیانت و نابودی! ای لشکر عیلام حمله کن! ای لشکر ماد محاصره کن! خدا به نالهٔ قومهایی که زیر دست بابِل هستند پایان می‌دهد.

A grievous vision was revealed to me; The plunderer plundereth, and the destroyer destroyeth. “Go up, O Elam! Besiege, O Media! All sighing do I make to cease.”

3 با دیدن و شنیدن این چیزها مدهوش شدم و دردی چون درد زایمان همهٔ وجودم را فرا گرفت.

Therefore are my loins full of pain; Pangs have seized me, as the pangs of a woman in travail; For convulsions I cannot hear; For anguish I cannot see.

4 می‌ترسیدم و قلبم به شدت می‌تپید. آرزو می‌کردم هر چه زودتر شب فرا رسد، ولی آرامش شب نیز جای خود را به وحشت داده بود.

My heart panteth, Terror hath seized upon me; The evening of my desire is changed into horror.

5 در رؤیا دیدم فرشها پهن شده و سفره چیده شده است و عده‌ای مشغول خوردن و نوشیدنند. ناگهان فرمانی صادر می‌شود: «ای سرداران برخیزید و سپرهای خود را برای جنگ آماده سازید!»

The table is prepared; the watch is set; They eat; they drink; “Arise, ye princes! Anoint the shield!”

6 در این هنگام خداوند به من فرمود: «یک دیدبان تعیین کن تا هر چه را می‌بیند، خبر دهد.

For thus said the Lord unto me: “Go, set a watchman, Who shall declare what he seeth.”

7 هنگامی که ببیند سواران جفت‌جفت بر الاغ و شتر می‌آیند باید دقت کند.»

And he saw a troop, horsemen in pairs, Riders on asses, and riders on camels, And he watched with the utmost heed.

8 پس دیدبان را بالای حصار گذاشتم. یک روز او فریاد زد: «ای سرورم، روزها و شبها بر دیدبانگاه خود ایستاده دیدبانی کرده‌ام. اینک فوج سواران را می‌بینم که جفت‌جفت می‌آیند!» در این هنگام، صدایی شنیدم که می‌گفت: «بابِل سقوط کرد! بابِل سقوط کرد! همهٔ بتهای بابِل خرد شدند و روی زمین افتادند!»

Then he cried like a lion: “My Lord, I stand continually upon the watch-tower in the daytime, And keep my post all the night;

And behold, there cometh a troop, Horsemen in pairs.” Again also he lifted up his voice, and said: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon, And all the graven images of her gods are cast broken to the ground.”

10 ای قوم من اسرائیل، ای قومی که مانند گندم کوبیده و غربال شده‌اید، به این خبر خوشی که از جانب خداوند لشکرهای آسمان، خدای اسرائیل، به شما اعلام کردم، گوش دهید.

O my threshing, and the corn of my floor! What I have heard from Jehovah of hosts, the God of Israel, That have I declared to you.

11 این پیام برای دومَه است: یک نفر از ادوم مرا صدا می‌زند: «ای دیدبان، از شب چه خبر؟ چقدر مانده شب تمام شود؟»

The prophecy concerning Dumah. A voice came to me from Seir: “Watchman, what of the night? Watchman, what of the night?”

12 من جواب می‌دهم: «به‌زودی روز داوری شما فرا می‌رسد. به سوی خدا بازگشت کنید تا من خبر خوشی به شما دهم. او را بطلبید و دوباره بیایید و بپرسید.»

The watchman saith: “Morning cometh, and also night. If ye will inquire, inquire! Return, come!”

13 این پیام برای عربستان است: ای مردم ددان که در بیابانهای عربستان اردو می‌زنید،

The prophecy against the Arabians. In the thickets of Arabia shall ye lodge, O ye caravans of Dedan!

14 به تشنگانی که نزد شما می‌آیند آب دهید؛ ای مردم تیما به فراریان خوراک دهید.

The inhabitants of the land of Tema Bring water to the thirsty; They come to meet the fugitive with bread.

15 اینها از شمشیر برهنه و کمان کشیده و از جنگِ سخت گریخته‌اند.

For they flee from swords, From the drawn sword, And from the bent bow, And from the fury of war.

16 خداوند به من گفت: «درست پس از یک سال قدرت و شوکت قبیلهٔ قیدار از بین خواهد رفت

For thus saith the Lord to me: Within one year, according to the years of a hireling, Shall all the glory of Kedar be consumed.

17 و از تیراندازان و جنگاوران این قبیله بیش از چند نفر باقی نخواهند ماند. من که یهوه خدای اسرائیل هستم این را می‌گویم.»

The remainder of the mighty bowmen of the sons of Kedar shall be diminished; For Jehovah, the God of Israel, hath said it.
