هوشع 8

1 خداوند می‌فرماید: «شیپور خطر را به صدا درآورید! دشمن مثل عقاب بر سر قوم من فرود می‌آید، چون قوم من عهد مرا شکسته و از فرمانهایم سرپیچی کرده‌اند.

Set the horn to thy mouth. As a vulture he cometh against the house of the LORD; because they have transgressed My covenant, and trespassed against My law.

2 «اسرائیل از من یاری می‌خواهند و مرا خدای خود می‌خوانند.

Will they cry unto Me: 'My God, we Israel know Thee'?

3 ولی دیگر دیر شده است! قوم اسرائیل فرصتی را که داشتند با بی‌اعتنایی از دست دادند، پس اینک دشمنانش به جانشان خواهند افتاد.

Israel hath cast off that which is good; the enemy shall pursue him.

4 ایشان پادشاهان و رهبران خود را بدون تأیید من تعیین کرده و بتهایی از طلا و نقره ساخته‌اند، پس اینک نابود خواهند شد.

They have set up kings, but not from Me, they have made princes, and I knew it not; of their silver and their gold have they made them idols, that they may be cut off.

5 «ای سامره، من از این بُتی که به شکل گوساله ساخته‌ای بیزارم. آتش غضبم بر ضد تو شعله‌ور است. چقدر طول خواهد کشید تا یک انسان درستکار در میان تو پیدا شود؟

Thy calf, O Samaria, is cast off; Mine anger is kindled against them; how long will it be ere they attain to innocency?

6 چقدر طول خواهد کشید تا بفهمی گوساله‌ای که می‌پرستی، ساختهٔ دست انسان است؟ این گوساله، خدا نیست! پس خرد خواهد شد.

For from Israel is even this: the craftsman made it, and it is no God; yea, the calf of Samaria shall be broken in shivers.

7 «آنها باد می‌کارند و گردباد درو می‌کنند. خوشه‌های گندمشان محصولی نمی‌دهد و اگر محصولی نیز بدهد بیگانگان آن را می‌خورند.

For they sow the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind; it hath no stalk, the bud that shall yield no meal; if so be it yield, strangers shall swallow it up.

8 «اسرائیل بلعیده شده و اکنون همچون ظرفی شکسته در میان قومها افتاده است.

Israel is swallowed up; now are they become among the nations as a vessel wherein is no value.

9 ایشان همچون گورخری تنها که در پی یافتن زوج است، به آشور رفته‌اند. مردم اسرائیل خود را به عاشقان زیادی فروخته‌اند.

For they are gone up to Assyria, like a wild ass alone by himself; Ephraim hath hired lovers.

10 با اینکه دوستانی از سرزمینهای مختلف با پول خریده‌اند، اما من ایشان را به اسیری می‌فرستم تا زیر بار ظلم و ستم پادشاه آشور جانشان به ستوه آید.

Yea, though they hire among the nations, now will I gather them up; and they begin to be minished by reason of the burden of king and princes.

11 «اسرائیل مذبحهای زیادی ساخته است، ولی نه برای پرستش من! آنها مذبحهای گناهند!

For Ephraim hath multiplied altars to sin, yea, altars have been unto him to sin.

12 هزاران حکم از شریعت خود به ایشان دادم، اما آنها را چیزی غریب دانستند.

Though I write for him never so many things of My Law, they are accounted as a stranger's.

13 قوم اسرائیل مراسم قربانیهای خود را دوست دارند، ولی این مراسم مورد پسند من نیست. من گناه آنها را فراموش نخواهم کرد و ایشان را مجازات کرده به مصر باز خواهم گرداند.

As for the sacrifices that are made by fire unto Me, let them sacrifice flesh and eat it, for the LORD accepteth them not. Now will He remember their iniquity, and punish their sins; they shall return to Egypt.

14 «اسرائیل قصرهای بزرگی ساخته و یهودا برای شهرهایش استحکامات دفاعی عظیمی بنا کرده است، ولی آنها آفرینندۀ خود را فراموش کرده‌اند. پس من این قصرها و استحکامات را به آتش خواهم کشید.»

For Israel hath forgotten his Maker, and builded palaces, and Judah hath multiplied fortified cities; but I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour the castles thereof.
