| یعقوب به سفر خود ادامه داد تا به سرزمین مردمان مشرق رسید. | 1 |
Then Iaakob lift vp his feete and came into the East countrey.
| در صحرا چاهی دید که سه گلۀ گوسفند کنار آن خوابیده بودند، زیرا از آن چاه، به گله‌ها آب می‌دادند. اما سنگی بزرگ بر دهانۀ چاه قرار داشت. | 2 |
And as he looked about, behold there was a well in the field, and lo, three flocks of sheepe lay thereby (for at that well were the flockes watered) and there was a great stone vpon the welles mouth.
| (رسم بر این بود که وقتی همهٔ گله‌ها جمع می‌شدند، آن سنگ را از سر چاه برمی‌داشتند و پس از سیراب کردن گله‌ها، دوباره سنگ را بر سر چاه می‌غلتانیدند.) | 3 |
And thither were all the flockes gathered, and they rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered the sheepe, and put the stone againe vpon the welles mouth in his place.
| یعقوب نزد چوپانان رفت و از آنها پرسید که از کجا هستند. گفتند از حران هستند. | 4 |
And Iaakob sayde vnto them, My brethren, whence be ye? And they answered, We are of Haran.
| به ایشان گفت: «آیا لابان نوۀ ناحور را می‌شناسید؟» گفتند: «بله، او را می‌شناسیم.» | 5 |
Then he sayd vnto them, Know ye Laban the sonne of Nahor? Who said, We know him.
| یعقوب پرسید: «حالِ او خوب است؟» گفتند: «بله، حالش خوب است. اینک دخترش راحیل نیز با گله‌اش می‌آید.» | 6 |
Againe he sayd vnto them, Is he in good health? And they answered, He is in good health, and beholde, his daughter Rahel commeth with the sheepe.
| یعقوب گفت: «هنوز تا غروب خیلی مانده است. چرا به گوسفندها آب نمی‌دهید تا دوباره بروند و بچرند؟» | 7 |
Then he sayd, Lo, it is yet hie day, neither is it time that the cattell shoulde be gathered together: water ye the sheepe and go feede them.
| جواب دادند: «تا همهٔ گله‌ها سر چاه نیایند ما نمی‌توانیم سنگ را برداریم و گله‌هایمان را سیراب کنیم.» | 8 |
But they sayde, We may not vntill all the flocks be brought together, and till men rolle the stone from the welles mouth, that we may water the sheepe.
| در حالی که این گفتگو ادامه داشت، راحیل با گلهٔ پدرش سر رسید، زیرا او نیز چوپان بود. | 9 |
While he talked with them, Rahel also came with her fathers sheepe, for she kept them.
| وقتی یعقوب دختر دایی خود، راحیل را دید که با گله لابان می‌آید، سنگ را از سر چاه برداشت و گلهٔ او را سیراب نمود. | 10 |
And assoone as Iaakob saw Rahel ye daughter of Laban his mothers brother, and the sheepe of Laban his mothers brother, then came Iaakob neere, and rolled the stone from the welles mouth, and watered ye flocke of Laban his mothers brother.
| سپس یعقوب، راحیل را بوسیده، با صدای بلند شروع به گریستن نمود! | 11 |
And Iaakob kissed Rahel, and lift vp his voyce and wept.
| یعقوب خود را معرفی کرد و گفت که خویشاوند پدرش و پسر ربکاست. راحیل به محض شنیدن سخنان او، دوان‌دوان به منزل شتافت و پدرش را باخبر کرد. | 12 |
(For Iaakob tolde Rahel, that he was her fathers brother, and that he was Rebekahs sonne) then she ranne and tolde her father.
| چون لابان خبر آمدن خواهرزادهٔ خود یعقوب را شنید به استقبالش شتافت و او را در آغوش گرفته، بوسید و به خانهٔ خود آورد. آنگاه یعقوب داستان خود را برای او شرح داد. | 13 |
And when Laban heard tell of Iaakob his sisters sonne, he ranne to meete him, and embraced him and kissed him, and brought him to his house: and he tolde Laban all these things.
| لابان به او گفت: «تو از گوشت و استخوان من هستی!» یک ماه بعد از آمدن یعقوب، | 14 |
To whome Laban sayd, Well, thou art my bone and my flesh. and he abode with him the space of a moneth.
| لابان به او گفت: «تو نباید به دلیل اینکه خویشاوند من هستی برای من مجانی کار کنی. بگو چقدر مزد به تو بدهم؟» | 15 |
For Laban sayde vnto Iaakob, Though thou be my brother, shouldest thou therfore serue me for nought? tell me, what shalbe thy wages?
| لابان دو دختر داشت که نام دختر بزرگ لَیه و نام دختر کوچک راحیل بود. | 16 |
Now Laban had two daughters, the elder called Leah, and the yonger called Rahel.
| لیه چشمانی ضعیف داشت، اما راحیل زیبا و خوش‌اندام بود. | 17 |
And Leah was tender eyed, but Rahel was beautifull and faire.
| یعقوب عاشق راحیل شده بود. پس به لابان گفت: «اگر راحیل، دختر کوچکت را به همسری به من بدهی، هفت سال برای تو کار خواهم کرد.» | 18 |
And Iaakob loued Rahel, and sayde, I will serue thee seuen yeeres for Rahel thy yonger daughter.
| لابان جواب داد: «قبول می‌کنم. ترجیح می‌دهم دخترم را به تو که از بستگانم هستی بدهم تا به یک بیگانه.» | 19 |
Then Laban answered, It is better that I giue her thee, then that I should giue her to another man: abide with me.
| یعقوب برای ازدواج با راحیل هفت سال برای لابان کار کرد، ولی به قدری راحیل را دوست می‌داشت که این سالها در نظرش چند روز آمد. | 20 |
And Iaakob serued seuen yeres for Rahel, and they seemed vnto him but a few dayes, because he loued her.
| آنگاه یعقوب به لابان گفت: «مدت قرارداد ما تمام شده و موقع آن رسیده است که راحیل را به زنی بگیرم.» | 21 |
Then Iaakob sayde to Laban, Giue me my wife, that I may goe in to her: for my terme is ended.
| لابان همهٔ مردم آنجا را دعوت کرده، ضیافتی بر پا نمود. | 22 |
Wherefore Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
| وقتی هوا تاریک شد، لابان دختر خود لیه را به حجله فرستاد و یعقوب با وی همبستر شد. | 23 |
But whe the euening was come, he tooke Leah his daughter and brought her to him, and he went in vnto her.
| (لابان کنیزی به نام زلفه به لیه داد تا او را خدمت کند.) | 24 |
And Laban gaue his mayde Zilpah to his daughter Leah, to be her seruant.
| اما صبح روز بعد، یعقوب به جای راحیل، لیه را در حجلهٔ خود یافت. پس رفته، به لابان گفت: «این چه کاری بود که با من کردی؟ من هفت سال برای تو کار کردم تا راحیل را به من بدهی. چرا مرا فریب دادی؟» | 25 |
But when the morning was come, behold, it was Leah. Then sayde he to Laban, Wherefore hast thou done thus to mee? did not I serue thee for Rahel? wherfore then hast thou beguiled me?
| لابان جواب داد: «رسم ما بر این نیست که دختر کوچکتر را زودتر از دختر بزرگتر شوهر بدهیم. | 26 |
And Laban answered, It is not the maner of this place, to giue the yonger before the elder.
| صبر کن تا هفتهٔ عروسی لیه بگذرد، بعد راحیل را نیز به زنی بگیر، مشروط بر اینکه قول بدهی هفت سال دیگر برایم کار کنی.» | 27 |
Fulfill seuen yeeres for her, and we wil also giue thee this for the seruice, which thou shalt serue me yet seuen yeeres more.
| یعقوب قبول کرد و لابان پس از پایان هفتهٔ عروسی لیه، دختر کوچک خود راحیل را هم به یعقوب داد. | 28 |
Then Iaakob did so, and fulfilled her seuen yeeres, so he gaue him Rahel his daughter to be his wife.
| (لابان کنیزی به نام بلهه به راحیل داد تا او را خدمت کند.) | 29 |
Laban also gaue to Rahel his daughter Bilhah his mayde to be her seruant.
| یعقوب با راحیل نیز همبستر شد و او را بیشتر از لیه دوست می‌داشت و به خاطر او هفت سال دیگر برای لابان کار کرد. | 30 |
So entred he in to Rahel also, and loued also Rahel more then Leah, and serued him yet seuen yeeres more.
| وقتی خداوند دید که یعقوب لیه را دوست ندارد، لیه را مورد لطف خود قرار داد و او بچه‌دار شد، ولی راحیل نازا ماند. | 31 |
When the Lord saw that Leah was despised, he made her fruitful: but Rahel was barren.
| آنگاه لیه حامله شد و پسری زایید. او گفت: «خداوند مصیبت مرا دیده است و بعد از این شوهرم مرا دوست خواهد داشت.» پس او را رئوبین نامید، زیرا گفت: «خداوند مصیبت مرا دیده است، اکنون شوهرم مرا دوست خواهد داشت.» | 32 |
And Leah conceiued and bare a sonne, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Because the Lord hath looked vpon my tribulation, now therefore mine husband will loue me.
| او بار دیگر حامله شده، پسری به دنیا آورد و او را شمعون نامید، زیرا گفت: «خداوند شنید که من مورد بی‌مهری قرار گرفته‌ام و پسر دیگری به من داد.» | 33 |
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and sayde, Because the Lord heard that I was hated, he hath therefore giuen me this sonne also, and she called his name Simeon.
| لیه باز هم حامله شد و پسری به دنیا آورد و او را لاوی نامید، زیرا گفت: «اینک مطمئناً شوهرم به من دلبسته خواهد شد، زیرا این سومین پسری است که برایش به دنیا آورده‌ام.» | 34 |
And she conceiued againe and bare a sonne, and said, Now at this time wil my husband keepe mee company, because I haue borne him three sonnes: therefore was his name called Leui.
| بار دیگر او حامله شد و پسری به دنیا آورد و او را یهودا نامید، زیرا گفت: «این بار خداوند را ستایش خواهم نمود.» آنگاه لیه از زاییدن بازایستاد. | 35 |
Moreouer shee conceiued againe and bare a sonne, saying, Nowe will I prayse the Lord: therefore shee called his name Iudah, and left bearing.
