| پس اسحاق یعقوب را فرا‌خوانده، او را برکت داد و به او گفت: «با هیچ‌یک از این دختران کنعانی ازدواج نکن. | 1 |
And so Isaac clepide Jacob, and blesside hym, and comaundide to hym, and seide, Nyle thou take a wijf of the kyn of Canaan; but go thou,
| بلکه بلند شو و به فَدّان‌اَرام، به خانهٔ پدر بزرگت بتوئیل برو و با یکی از دختران دایی خود لابان ازدواج کن. | 2 |
and walke forth in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, to the hows of Batuel, fadir of thi modir, and take to thee of thennus a wijf of the douytris of Laban, thin vncle.
| خدای قادر مطلق تو را برکت دهد و به تو فرزندان بسیار ببخشد تا از نسل تو قبایل زیادی به وجود آیند! | 3 |
Sotheli Almyyti God blesse thee, and make thee to encreesse, and multiplie thee, that thou be in to cumpanyes of puplis;
| او برکتی را که به ابراهیم وعده داد، به تو و نسل تو دهد تا صاحب این سرزمینی که خدا آن را به ابراهیم بخشیده و اکنون در آن غریب هستیم بشوی.» | 4 |
and God yyue to thee the blessyngis of Abraham, and to thi seed aftir thee, that thou welde the lond of thi pilgrymage, which he bihiyte to thi grauntsir.
| پس اسحاق یعقوب را روانه نمود و او به فَدّان‌اَرام، نزد دایی خود لابان، پسر بتوئیل ارامی رفت. | 5 |
And whanne Ysaac hadde left hym, he yede forth, and cam in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, to Laban, the sone of Batuel of Sirie, the brother of Rebecca, his modir.
| عیسو فهمید که پدرش اسحاق از دختران کنعانی بیزار است، و یعقوب را از گرفتن زن کنعانی برحذر داشته و پس از برکت دادن او، وی را به فَدّان‌اَرام فرستاده است تا از آنجا زنی برای خود بگیرد و یعقوب هم از پدر و مادر خود اطاعت کرده به فَدّان‌اَرام رفته است. | 6 |
Forsothe Esau seiy that his fadir hadde blessid Jacob, and hadde sent him in to Mesopotanye of Sirie, that he schulde wedde a wijf of thennus, and that aftir the blessyng he comaundide to Jacob, and seide, Thou schalt not take a wijf of the douytris of Canaan;

and that Jacob obeiede to his fadir `and modir, and yede in to Sirie;
| 8 |
also Esau preuyde that his fadir bihelde not gladli the douytris of Canaan.
| پس عیسو هم نزد خاندان عمویش اسماعیل که پسر ابراهیم بود رفت و علاوه بر زنانی که داشت، محلت، دختر اسماعیل، خواهر نبایوت را نیز به زنی گرفت. | 9 |
And he yede to Ismael, and weddide a wijf, with out these whiche he hadde bifore, Melech, the douyter of Ismael, sone of Abraham, the sistir of Nabaioth.
| پس یعقوب بئرشبع را به قصد حران ترک نمود. | 10 |
Therfor Jacob yede out of Bersabee, and yede to Aran.
| همان روز پس از غروب آفتاب، به مکانی رسید و خواست شب را در آنجا به سر برد. پس سنگی برداشت و زیر سر خود نهاده، همان جا خوابید. | 11 |
And whanne he hadde come to sum place, and wolde reste ther inne aftir the goynge doun of the sunne, he took of the stoonus that laien ther, and he puttide vndur his heed, and slepte in the same place.
| در خواب نردبانی را دید که پایهٔ آن بر زمین بود و سرش به آسمان می‌رسد و فرشتگان خدا از آن بالا و پایین می‌روند | 12 |
And he seiye in sleep a laddir stondynge on the erthe, and the cop ther of touchinge heuene; and he seiy Goddis aungels stiynge vp and goynge doun ther bi,
| و خداوند بر بالای نردبان ایستاده است. سپس خداوند چنین فرمود: «من خداوند، خدای ابراهیم و خدای پدرت اسحاق هستم. زمینی که روی آن خوابیده‌ای از آن توست. من آن را به تو و نسل تو می‌بخشم. | 13 |
and the Lord fastned to the laddir, seiynge to hym, Y am the Lord God of Abraham, thi fadir, and God of Isaac; Y schal yyue to thee and to thi seed the lond in which thou slepist.
| فرزندان تو چون غبار زمین، بی‌شمار خواهند شد! از مشرق تا مغرب، و از شمال تا جنوب را خواهند پوشانید. تمامی مردمِ زمین توسط تو و نسل تو برکت خواهند یافت. | 14 |
And thi seed schal be as the dust of erthe, thou schalt be alargid to the eest, and west, and north, and south; and alle lynagis of erthe schulen be blessid in thee and in thi seed.
| هر جا که بروی من با تو خواهم بود و از تو حمایت نموده، دوباره تو را به سلامت به این سرزمین باز خواهم آورد. تا آنچه به تو وعده داده‌ام به جا نیاورم تو را رها نخواهم کرد.» | 15 |
And Y schal be thi kepere, whidur euer thou schalt go; and Y schal lede thee ayen in to this lond, and Y schal not leeue no but Y schal fil alle thingis whiche Y seide.
| سپس یعقوب از خواب بیدار شد و گفت: «بدون شک خداوند در این مکان حضور دارد و من ندانستم!» | 16 |
And whanne Jacob hadde wakyd of sleep, he seide, Verili the Lord is in this place, and Y wiste not.
| پس ترسید و گفت: «این چه جای ترسناکی است! این است خانهٔ خدا و این است دروازهٔ آسمان!» | 17 |
And he seide dredynge, Hou worschipful is this place! Here is noon other thing no but the hows of God, and the yate of heuene.
| پس یعقوب صبح زود برخاست و سنگی را که زیر سر نهاده بود، چون ستونی بر پا داشت و بر آن روغن زیتون ریخت. | 18 |
Therfor Jacob roos eerli, and took the stoon which he hadde put vndur his heed, and reiside in to a title, and helde oile aboue.
| او آن مکان را بیت‌ئیل (یعنی «خانهٔ خدا») نامید. (نام این شهر پیش از آن لوز بود.) | 19 |
And he clepide the name of that citee Bethel, which was clepid Lusa bifore.
| آنگاه یعقوب نذر کرده گفت: «اگر خدا در این سفر با من باشد و مرا محافظت نماید و خوراک و پوشاک به من بدهد، | 20 |
Also he auowide a vow, and seide, If God is with me, and kepith me in the weie in which Y go, and yyueth to me looues to ete, and clothis to be clothid,
| و مرا به سلامت به خانهٔ پدرم بازگرداند، آنگاه یهوه خدای من خواهد بود؛ | 21 |
and Y turne ayen in prosperite to the hows of my fadir, the Lord schal be in to God to me.
| و این ستونی که به عنوان یادبود بر پا کردم، مکانی خواهد بود برای عبادت خدا و ده‌یک هر چه را که او به من بدهد به وی باز خواهم داد.» | 22 |
And this stoon, which Y reiside in to a title, schal be clepid the hows of God, and Y schal offre tithis to thee of alle thingis whiche thou schalt yyue to me.
