پیدایش 26
| روزی قحطی شدیدی همانند قحطی زمان ابراهیم سراسر سرزمین کنعان را فرا گرفت. به همین دلیل اسحاق به شهر جرار نزد ابیملک، پادشاه فلسطین رفت. | 1 |
And there is a famine in the land, besides the first famine which was in the days of Abraham, and Isaac goes to Abimelech king of the Philistines, to Gerar.
| خداوند در آنجا به اسحاق ظاهر شده، گفت: «به مصر نرو. آنچه می‌گویم انجام بده. | 2 |
And YHWH appears to him and says, “Do not go down toward Egypt, dwell in the land concerning which I speak to you,
| در این سرزمین همچون یک غریبه بمان، و من با تو خواهم بود و تو را برکت خواهم داد. من تمامی این سرزمینها را به تو و نسل تو خواهم بخشید، و بدین ترتیب به سوگندی که برای پدرت ابراهیم یاد کردم وفا خواهم کرد. | 3 |
sojourn in this land, and I am with you, and bless you, for to you and to your seed I give all these lands, and I have established the oath which I have sworn to your father Abraham;
| نسل تو را چون ستارگان آسمان بی‌شمار خواهم گردانید و تمامی این سرزمین را به آنها خواهم داد و همۀ قومهای جهان از نسل تو برکت خواهند یافت. | 4 |
and I have multiplied your seed as stars of the heavens, and I have given to your seed all these lands; and all nations of the earth have blessed themselves in your Seed;
| این کار را به خاطر ابراهیم خواهم کرد، چون او احکام و اوامر مرا اطاعت نمود.» | 5 |
because that Abraham has listened to My voice, and keeps My charge, My commands, My statutes, and My laws.”
| پس اسحاق در جرار ماندگار شد. | 6 |
And Isaac dwells in Gerar;
| وقتی که مردم آنجا دربارهٔ ربکا از او سؤال کردند، گفت: «او خواهر من است!» چون ترسید اگر بگوید همسر من است، به خاطر تصاحب زنش او را بکشند، زیرا ربکا بسیار زیبا بود. | 7 |
and men of the place ask him of his wife, and he says, “She [is] my sister”: for he has been afraid to say, “My wife—lest the men of the place kill me for Rebekah, for she [is] of good appearance.”
| مدتی بعد، یک روز ابیملک، پادشاه فلسطین از پنجره دید که اسحاق با همسرش رِبِکا شوخی می‌کند. | 8 |
And it comes to pass, when the days have been prolonged to him there, that Abimelech king of the Philistines looks through the window, and sees, and behold, Isaac is playing with his wife Rebekah.
| پس ابیملک، اسحاق را نزد خود خوانده، به او گفت: «چرا گفتی ربکا خواهرت است، در حالی که زن تو می‌باشد؟» اسحاق در جواب گفت: «چون می‌ترسیدم برای تصاحب او مرا بکشند.» | 9 |
And Abimelech calls for Isaac and says, “Behold, she [is] surely your wife; and how could you have said, She [is] my sister?” And Isaac says to him, “Because I said, Lest I die for her.”
| اَبیمِلِک گفت: «این چه کاری بود که با ما کردی؟ آیا فکر نکردی که ممکن است یکی از مردم ما با وی همبستر شود؟ در آن صورت ما را به گناه بزرگی دچار می‌ساختی.» | 10 |
And Abimelech says, “What [is] this you have done to us? As a little thing one of the people had lain with your wife, and you had brought on us guilt”;
| سپس ابیملک به همه اعلام نمود: «هر کس به این مرد و همسر وی زیان رساند، کشته خواهد شد.» | 11 |
and Abimelech commands all the people, saying, “He who comes against this man or against his wife, dying does die.”
| اسحاق در جرار به زراعت مشغول شد و در آن سال صد برابر بذری که کاشته بود درو کرد، زیرا خداوند او را برکت داده بود. | 12 |
And Isaac sows in that land, and finds in that year a hundredfold, and YHWH blesses him;
| هر روز بر دارایی او افزوده می‌شد و طولی نکشید که او مرد بسیار ثروتمندی شد. | 13 |
and the man is great, and goes on, going on and becoming great, until he has been very great,
| وی گله‌ها و رمه‌ها و غلامان بسیار داشت به طوری که فلسطینی‌ها بر او حسد می‌بردند. | 14 |
and he has possession of a flock, and possession of a herd, and an abundant service; and the Philistines envy him,
| پس آنها چاههای آبی را که غلامان پدرش ابراهیم در زمان حیات ابراهیم کنده بودند، با خاک پُر کردند. | 15 |
and all the wells which his father’s servants dug in the days of his father Abraham, the Philistines have stopped them, and fill them with dust.
| ابیملکِ پادشاه نیز از او خواست تا سرزمینش را ترک کند و به او گفت: «به جایی دیگر برو، زیرا تو از ما بسیار ثروتمندتر و قدرتمندتر شده‌ای.» | 16 |
And Abimelech says to Isaac, “Go from us; for you have become much mightier than we”;
| پس اسحاق آنجا را ترک نموده، در درهٔ جرار ساکن شد. | 17 |
and Isaac goes from there, and encamps in the Valley of Gerar, and dwells there;
| او چاههای آبی را که در زمان حیات پدرش کَنده بودند و فلسطینی‌ها آنها را پُر کرده بودند، دوباره کَند و همان نامهایی را که قبلاً پدرش بر آنها نهاده بود بر آنها گذاشت. | 18 |
and Isaac turns back, and digs the wells of water which they dug in the days of his father Abraham, which the Philistines have stopped after the death of Abraham, and he calls to them names according to the names which his father called them.
| غلامان او نیز چاه تازه‌ای در درهٔ جرار کَنده، در قعر آن به آب روان رسیدند. | 19 |
And Isaac’s servants dig in the valley, and find there a well of living water,
| سپس چوپانان جرار آمدند و با چوپانان اسحاق به نزاع پرداخته، گفتند: «این چاه به ما تعلق دارد.» پس اسحاق آن چاه را عِسِق (یعنی «نزاع») نامید. | 20 |
and shepherds of Gerar strive with shepherds of Isaac, saying, “The water [is] ours”; and he calls the name of the well “Strife,” because they have striven habitually with him;
| غلامانِ اسحاق چاه دیگری کَندند و باز بر سر آن مشاجره‌ای درگرفت. اسحاق آن چاه را سِطنه (یعنی «دشمنی») نامید. | 21 |
and they dig another well, and they strive also for it, and he calls its name “Hatred.”
| اسحاق آن چاه را نیز ترک نموده، چاه دیگری کَند، ولی این بار نزاعی درنگرفت. پس اسحاق آن را رحوبوت (یعنی «مکان وسیع») نامید. او گفت: «خداوند مکانی برای ما مهیا نموده است و ما در این سرزمین ترقی خواهیم کرد.» | 22 |
And he removes from there, and digs another well, and they have not striven for it, and he calls its name “Enlargements,” and says, “For—now has YHWH given enlargement to us, and we have been fruitful in the land.”
| وقتی که اسحاق به بئرشبع رفت | 23 |
And he goes up from there [to] Beer-Sheba,
| در همان شب خداوند بر وی ظاهر شد و فرمود: «من خدای پدرت ابراهیم هستم. ترسان مباش، چون من با تو هستم. من تو را برکت خواهم داد و به خاطر بندهٔ خود ابراهیم نسل تو را زیاد خواهم کرد.» | 24 |
and YHWH appears to him during that night and says, “I [am] the God of your father Abraham, do not fear, for I [am] with you, and have blessed you, and have multiplied your seed, because of My servant Abraham”;
| آنگاه اسحاق مذبحی بنا کرده، خداوند را پرستش نمود. او در همان جا ساکن شد و غلامانش چاه دیگری کندند. | 25 |
and he builds there an altar, and preaches in the Name of YHWH, and stretches out there his tent, and there Isaac’s servants dig a well.
| روزی ابیملکِ پادشاه به اتفاق مشاور خود احوزات و فرماندهٔ سپاهش فیکول از جرار نزد اسحاق آمدند. | 26 |
And Abimelech has gone to him from Gerar, and Ahuzzath his friend, and Phichol head of his host;
| اسحاق از ایشان پرسید: «چرا به اینجا آمده‌اید؟ شما که مرا با خصومت از نزد خود راندید!» | 27 |
and Isaac says to them, “Why have you come to me, and you have hated me, and you send me away from you?”
| پاسخ دادند: «ما آشکارا می‌بینیم که خداوند با توست؛ پس می‌خواهیم سوگندی در بین ما و تو باشد و با تو پیمانی ببندیم. | 28 |
And they say, “We have certainly seen that YHWH has been with you, and we say, Now let there be an oath between us, between us and you, and let us make a covenant with you;
| قول بده ضرری به ما نرسانی همان‌طور که ما هم ضرری به تو نرساندیم. ما غیر از خوبی کاری در حق تو نکردیم و تو را با صلح و صفا روانه نمودیم. اکنون ببین خداوند چقدر تو را برکت داده است.» | 29 |
do no evil with us, as we have not touched you, and as we have only done good with you, and send you away in peace; you [are] now blessed of YHWH.”
| پس اسحاق ضیافتی برای آنها بر پا نمود و آنها خوردند و آشامیدند. | 30 |
And he makes a banquet for them, and they eat and drink,
| صبح روز بعد برخاستند و هر یک از آنها قسم خوردند که به یکدیگر ضرری نرسانند. سپس اسحاق ایشان را به سلامتی به سرزمینشان روانه کرد. | 31 |
and rise early in the morning, and swear to one another, and Isaac sends them away, and they go from him in peace.
| در همان روز، غلامان اسحاق آمدند و او را از چاهی که می‌کَندند خبر داده، گفتند که در آن آب یافته‌اند. | 32 |
And it comes to pass during that day that Isaac’s servants come and declare to him concerning the circumstances of the well which they have dug, and say to him, “We have found water”;
| اسحاق آن را شَبَع (یعنی «سوگند») نامید و شهری که در آنجا بنا شد، بئرشبع (یعنی «چاه سوگند») نامیده شد که تا به امروز به همان نام باقی است. | 33 |
and he calls it Shebah, [oath, ] therefore the name of the city [is] Beer-Sheba, [Well of the Oath, ] to this day.
| عیسو پسر اسحاق در سن چهل سالگی یودیه، دختر بیری حیتّی و بسمه دختر ایلونِ حیتّی را به زنی گرفت. | 34 |
And Esau is a son of forty years, and he takes a wife, Judith, daughter of Beeri the Hittite, and Bashemath, daughter of Elon the Hittite,
| این زنان زندگی را بر اسحاق و ربکا تلخ کردند. | 35 |
and they are a bitterness of spirit to Isaac and to Rebekah.
