دانیال 8

1 در سال سوم سلطنت بلشصر، خوابی دیگر دیدم.

In the third year of the reign of Belshazzar the king, a vision appeared unto me, [even] to me Daniel, after that which appeared unto me at the first.

2 در خواب دیدم که در شهر سلطنتی شوش واقع در استان عیلام، در کنار رودخانهٔ اولای ایستاده بودم.

And I saw in the vision; and it came to pass, when I saw, that I was in the fortress of Shushan, which is in the province of Elam. And I saw in the vision, and I was by the river Ulai.

3 وقتی به اطراف نگاه می‌کردم، یک قوچ دیدم که دو شاخ بلند داشت و کنار رودخانه ایستاده بود. سپس دیدم یکی از این شاخها رشد کرد و از شاخ دیگر بلندتر شد.

And I lifted up mine eyes and saw, and behold, there stood before the river a ram which had two horns; and the two horns were high; and one was higher than the other, and the higher came up last.

4 این قوچ به سوی مغرب، شمال و جنوب شاخ می‌زد و هیچ جانداری نمی‌توانست با او مقابله کند یا از چنگش جان به در برد. او هر طور می‌خواست عمل می‌کرد و بزرگ می‌شد.

I saw the ram pushing westward, and northward, and southward, and no beast could stand before him, neither was there any that could deliver out of his hand; and he did according to his will, and became great.

5 در حالی که دربارهٔ آنچه دیده بودم فکر می‌کردم، ناگهان یک بز نر از غرب ظاهر شد. او آنقدر سریع می‌دوید که موقع دویدن پاهایش به زمین نمی‌رسید. این بز که یک شاخ بلند در وسط چشمانش داشت

And as I was considering, behold, a he-goat came from the west over the face of the whole earth, and touched not the ground: and the goat had a notable horn between his eyes.

6 با تمام قدرت به طرف آن قوچ دو شاخ دوید.

And he came to the ram that had the two horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran upon him in the fury of his power.

7 سپس با غضب بر قوچ حمله برد و دو شاخش را شکست و او را که یارای برابری نداشت به زمین کوبید و پایمال کرد، و کسی نبود او را از دستش نجات دهد.

And I saw him come close to the ram, and he was enraged with him, and smote the ram, and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him; and he cast him down to the ground, and trampled upon him; and there was none that could deliver the ram out of his hand.

8 بز نر بسیار بزرگ شد، ولی در حالی که در اوج قدرت بود ناگهان شاخش شکست و به جای آن چهار شاخ بلند در چهار جهت مختلف درآمد.

And the he-goat became exceeding great; but when he was become strong, the great horn was broken; and in its stead came up four notable ones toward the four winds of the heavens.

9 از یکی از این شاخها، شاخ کوچکی درآمد و طولی نکشید که رو به جنوب و مشرق و به طرف سرزمین زیبای اسرائیل رشد کرد و

And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which became exceeding great, toward the south, and toward the east, and toward the beauty [of the earth].

10 آنقدر قوی شد که بر ضد قوای آسمانی برخاست و بعضی از ستارگان را به زمین ریخت و پایمال کرد.

And it became great, even to the host of heaven; and it cast down [some] of the host and of the stars to the ground, and trampled upon them.

11 او حتی بر ضد «فرماندهٔ قوای آسمانی» قیام کرده، مانع تقدیم قربانیهای روزانه به او شد و خانهٔ مقدّس او را ویران ساخت.

(And he magnified [himself] even to the prince of the host, and from him the continual [sacrifice] was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down.

12 به خاطر گناه قوم به او اجازه داده شد قوی شود و مانع تقدیم قربانیهای روزانه گردد. آن شاخ هر چه خواست انجام داد و حقیقت و عدالت را پایمال کرد.

And a time of trial was appointed unto the continual [sacrifice] by reason of transgression.) And it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised and prospered.

13 سپس شنیدم که دو فرشتهٔ مقدّس با هم گفتگو می‌کردند. یکی از آنها از دیگری پرسید: «تا به کی این وضع ادامه پیدا خواهد کرد؟ تا به کی قربانیهای روزانه تقدیم نخواهند شد؟ تا به کی عصیان باعث ویرانی خواهد شد؟ تا به کی معبد و قوای آسمانی پایمال خواهند شد؟»

And I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that one who spoke, How long shall be the vision of the continual [sacrifice] and of the transgression that maketh desolate, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden down under foot?

14 شنیدم که فرشتهٔ دیگر جواب داد: «هزار و صد و پنجاه روز طول خواهد کشید و در این مدت قربانیهای روزانهٔ صبح و عصر تقدیم نخواهند شد. سپس معبد دوباره احیا خواهد گردید.»

And he said unto me, Until two thousand and three hundred evenings [and] mornings: then shall the sanctuary be vindicated.

15 وقتی سعی می‌کردم معنی این خواب را بفهمم، ناگهان وجودی شبیه انسان در برابر من ایستاد،

And it came to pass, when I Daniel had seen the vision, I sought for the understanding of it, and behold, there stood before me as the appearance of a man.

16 و صدایی از آن سوی رودخانهٔ اولای شنیدم که گفت: «ای جبرائیل، معنی این خواب را به دانیال بگو.»

And I heard a man's voice between [the banks of] the Ulai; and he called and said, Gabriel, make this [man] to understand the vision.

17 پس جبرائیل به طرف من آمد و من وحشت کردم و رو به زمین افتادم. او به من گفت: «ای انسان خاکی بدان که آنچه دیدی مربوط به زمان آخر است.»

And he came near where I stood; and when he came, I was afraid, and fell on my face; and he said unto me, Understand, son of man; for the vision is for the time of the end.

18 در حالی که او سخن می‌گفت من بیهوش بر زمین افتادم. ولی او مرا گرفت و بلند کرد

Now, as he was speaking with me, I was in a deep stupor, with my face toward the ground. And he touched me, and set me up where I had stood.

19 و گفت: «آمده‌ام تا به تو بگویم در اواخرِغضب خدا چه خواهد شد. آنچه دیدی مربوط به زمان تعیین شده در آخر است.

And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be at the end of the indignation: for at the set time the end shall be.

20 «آن قوچ دو شاخ را که دیدی، پادشاهی ماد و پارس است.

The ram that thou sawest having the two horns: they are the kings of Media and Persia.

21 آن بز نر، پادشاهی یونان است و شاخ بلندی که در وسط دو چشمش بود، اولین پادشاه آن مملکت می‌باشد.

And the rough goat is the king of Greece; and the great horn that was between his eyes is the first king.

22 آن شاخی که دیدی شکست و چهار شاخ دیگر به جایش درآمد، به این مفهوم است که حکومت یونان چهار قسمت خواهد شد و هر قسمت پادشاهی خواهد داشت، ولی هیچ‌کدام به اندازهٔ پادشاه اول بزرگ نخواهند بود.

Now that being broken, whereas four stood up in its stead, four kingdoms shall stand up out of the nation, but not with his power.

23 «در پایان سلطنت آنها، وقتی شرارت آنها از حد بگذرد، پادشاه دیگری به قدرت خواهد رسید که بسیار ظالم و مکار خواهد بود.

And at the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors shall have come to the full, a king of bold countenance, and understanding riddles, shall stand up.

24 او قدرت زیادی کسب خواهد کرد، ولی نه با توانایی خودش. او عامل تباهی و خرابی خواهد بود و هر طور بخواهد عمل خواهد نمود و دست به کشتار قدرتمندان و قوم مقدّس خدا خواهد زد.

And his power shall be mighty, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy marvellously, and shall prosper, and shall practise, and shall destroy the mighty ones, and the people of the saints.

25 با مهارت، نقشه‌های حیله‌گرانهٔ خود را عملی خواهد کرد و با یک حملهٔ غافلگیر کننده عدهٔ زیادی را از بین خواهد برد. آنقدر مغرور خواهد شد که بر ضد”سرور سروران“خواهد برخاست، ولی سرانجام نابود خواهد گردید اما نه با قدرت بشری.

And through his cunning shall he cause craft to prosper in his hand; and he will magnify [himself] in his heart, and by prosperity will corrupt many; and he will stand up against the Prince of princes: but he shall be broken without hand.

26 «خوابی را نیز که دربارهٔ قربانیهای روزانهٔ صبح و عصر دیدی به وقوع خواهد پیوست. ولی تو این خواب را مخفی نگه دار، زیرا در آیندهٔ بسیار دور واقع خواهد شد.»

And the vision of the evening and the morning which hath been told is true; but close thou up the vision, for it is for many days [to come].

27 آنگاه من چند روزی ضعیف و بیمار شدم. سپس برخاستم و طبق معمول به کارهایی که پادشاه به من سپرده بود، مشغول شدم. ولی رؤیایی که دیده بودم فکر مرا مشغول کرده بود، زیرا درک آن مشکل بود.

And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain] days: then I rose up, and did the king's business. And I was astonished at the vision, but none understood [it].
