دوم پادشاهان 3

1 یورام پسر اَخاب، سلطنت خود را بر اسرائیل در هجدهمین سال سلطنت یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا آغاز کرد و دوازده سال پادشاهی نمود. پایتخت او سامره بود.

Nowe Iehoram the sonne of Ahab beganne to reigne ouer Israel in Samaria, the eighteenth yeere of Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, and reigned twelue yeeres.

2 یورام نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزید ولی نه به اندازهٔ پدر و مادرش. او مجسمهٔ بعل را که پدرش ساخته بود، خراب کرد.

And he wrought euill in the sight of the Lord, but not like his father nor like his mother: for he tooke away the image of Baal that his father had made.

3 با وجود این، او نیز از گناهان یربعام (پسر نباط) که اسرائیل را به بت‌پرستی کشانیده بود پیروی نموده، از آنها دست برنداشت.

Neuerthelesse, he cleaued vnto the sinnes of Ieroboam, the sonne of Nebat, which made Israel to sinne, and departed not therefrom.

4 میشع، پادشاه موآب که هر سال از گله‌های خود صد هزار بره و نیز پشم صد هزار قوچ به اسرائیل باج می‌داد،

Then Mesha King of Moab had store of sheepe, and rendred vnto the King of Israel an hundreth thousande lambes, and an hundreth thousande rammes with the wooll.

5 بعد از مرگ اَخاب، به ضد پادشاه اسرائیل شورش کرد.

But when Ahab was dead, the king of Moab rebelled against the King of Israel.

6 پس یورام از پایتخت خارج شد تا سپاه اسرائیل را جمع کند.

Therefore King Iehoram went out of Samaria the same season, and nombred all Israel,

7 سپس این پیغام را برای یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا فرستاد: «پادشاه موآب از فرمان من سرپیچی کرده است. آیا مرا در جنگ با او کمک خواهی کرد؟» یهوشافاط در جواب او گفت: «البته که تو را کمک خواهم کرد. من و تمام افراد و اسبانم زیر فرمان تو هستیم.

And went, and sent to Iehoshaphat King of Iudah, saying, The King of Moab hath rebelled against me: wilt thou goe with me to battell against Moab? And he answered, I will goe vp: for I am, as thou art, my people, as thy people, and mine horses as thine horses.

8 از کدام طرف باید حمله را شروع کرد؟» یورام جواب داد: «از بیابان ادوم حمله می‌کنیم.»

Then said he, What way shall we goe vp? And he answered, The way of the wildernesse of Edom.

9 پس سپاه اسرائیل و یهودا و نیز نیروهای ادوم با هم متحد شده، رهسپار جنگ شدند. اما پس از هفت روز پیشروی در بیابان، آب تمام شد و افراد و چارپایان تشنه شدند.

So went the King of Israel and the king of Iudah, and the King of Edom, and when they had compassed the way seuen dayes, they had no water for the hoste, nor for the cattell that followed them.

10 یورام، پادشاه اسرائیل، با اندوه گفت: «حالا چه کنیم؟ خداوند، ما سه پادشاه را به اینجا آورده است تا ما را مغلوب پادشاه موآب کند.»

Therefore the King of Israel sayde, Alas, that the Lord hath called these three Kings, to giue them into the hand of Moab.

11 اما یهوشافاط، پادشاه یهودا، پرسید: «آیا از انبیای خداوند کسی همراه ما نیست تا از جانب خداوند به ما بگوید چه باید کرد؟» یکی از افراد یورام جواب داد: «الیشع که خادم ایلیا بود، اینجاست.»

But Iehoshaphat saide, Is there not here a Prophet of the Lord, that we may inquire of the Lord by him? And one of the King of Israels seruants answered, and said, Here is Elisha the sonne of Shaphat, which powred water on the handes of Eliiah.

12 یهوشافاط گفت: «خداوند توسط او سخن می‌گوید.» پس پادشاهان اسرائیل و یهودا و ادوم نزد الیشع رفتند تا با او مشورت نمایند که چه کنند.

Then Iehoshaphat saide, The worde of the Lord is with him. Therefore the King of Israel, and Iehoshaphat, and the King of Edom went downe to him.

13 الیشع به پادشاه اسرائیل گفت: «چرا نزد من آمده‌ای؟ برو با انبیای پدر و مادرت مشورت کن!» اما یورام پادشاه جواب داد: «نه! چون این خداوند است که ما سه پادشاه را به اینجا آورده تا مغلوب پادشاه موآب شویم!»

And Elisha sayde vnto the King of Israel, What haue I to doe with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father and to the prophets of thy mother. And the King of Israel saide vnto him, Nay: for the Lord hath called these three Kings, to giue them into the hande of Moab.

14 الیشع گفت: «به ذات خداوند، خدای لشکرهای آسمان که خدمتش می‌کنم قسم، اگر به خاطر یهوشافاط پادشاه یهودا نبود من حتی به تو نگاه هم نمی‌کردم.

Then Elisha said, As the Lord of hostes liueth, in whose sight I stande, if it were not, that I regarde the presence of Iehoshaphat the King of Iudah, I woulde not haue looked towarde thee, nor seene thee.

15 حال، چنگ‌نوازی نزد من بیاورید.» وقتی چنگ به صدا درآمد، قدرت خداوند بر الیشع قرار گرفت

But nowe bring me a minstrel. And when the minstrel played, the hand of the Lord came vpon him.

16 و او گفت: «خداوند می‌فرماید: بستر خشک این رودخانه را پر از گودال کنید تا من آنها را پر از آب سازم.

And he saide, Thus saith the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches.

17 باد و باران نخواهید دید، اما رودخانهٔ خشک پر از آب می‌شود تا هم خودتان سیراب شوید و هم چارپایانتان.

For thus saith the Lord, Ye shall neither see winde nor see raine, yet the valley shalbe filled with water, that ye may drinke, both ye and your cattel, and your beastes.

18 خداوند کار بزرگتری نیز انجام خواهد داد؛ او شما را بر موآب پیروز خواهد کرد!

But this is a small thing in the sight of the Lord: for he will giue Moab into your hande.

19 بهترین شهرها و استحکامات ایشان را از بین خواهید برد، درختان میوه را خواهید برید، چشمه‌های آب را مسدود خواهید کرد و مزارع حاصلخیز ایشان را با سنگها پر نموده، آنها را از بین خواهید برد.»

And ye shall smite euery strong towne and euery chiefe citie, and shall fell euery faire tree, and shall stoppe all the fountaines of water, and marre euery good fielde with stones.

20 صبح روز بعد، هنگام تقدیم قربانی صبحگاهی، از راه ادوم آب جاری شد و طولی نکشید که همه جا را فرا گرفت.

And in the morning whe the meat offring was offred, beholde, there came water by the way of Edom: and the countrey was filled with water.

21 وقتی مردم موآب شنیدند که سه سپاه متحد به طرف آنها پیش می‌آیند، تمام کسانی را که می‌توانستند بجنگند، از پیر و جوان، جمع کردند و در مرز کشور خود موضع گرفتند.

And when al the Moabites heard that the Kings were come vp to fight against them, they gathered all that was able to put on harnesse, and vpwarde, and stood in their border.

22 ولی صبح روز بعد، وقتی آفتاب برآمد و بر آن آب تابید، موآبی‌ها از آن طرف، آب را مثل خون، سرخ دیدند

And they rose earely in the morning, when the sunne arose vpon the water, and the Moabites saw the water ouer against them, as red as blood.

23 و فریاد برآوردند: «نگاه کنید! سربازان سه پادشاه دشمن به جان هم افتاده، خون یکدیگر را ریخته‌اند! ای موآبیان، برویم غارتشان کنیم!»

And they saide, This is blood the Kings are surely slaine, and one hath smitten another: now therefore, Moab, to the spoyle.

24 اما همین که به اردوگاه اسرائیل رسیدند سربازان اسرائیلی به آنها حمله کردند. سپاه موآب تار و مار شد. سربازان اسرائیلی وارد سرزمین موآب شدند و به کشتار موآبی‌ها پرداختند.

And when they came to the host of Israel, the Israelites arose vp, and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before them, but they inuaded them, and smote Moab.

25 آنها شهرها را خراب کردند و مزارع حاصلخیز را با سنگها پر ساخته آنها را ویران نمودند، چشمه‌های آب را مسدود کردند و درختان میوه را بریدند. سرانجام فقط پایتخت آنان، قیرحارست باقی ماند که آن را هم فلاخن‌اندازان محاصره کرده، به تصرف درآوردند.

And they destroyed the cities: and on all the good field euery man cast his stone, and filled them and they stopt all the fountaines of water, and felled all the good trees: onely in Kirharaseth left they the stones thereof: howebeit they went about it with slings, and smote it.

26 وقتی پادشاه موآب دید که جنگ را باخته است، هفتصد مرد شمشیرزن با خود برداشت تا محاصره را بشکند و نزد پادشاه ادوم فرار کند، اما نتوانست.

And when the King of Moab saw that the battel was too sore for him, he tooke with him seuen hudreth men that drew the sword, to break through vnto the King of Edom: but they could not.

27 پس پسر بزرگ خود را که می‌بایست بعد از او پادشاه شود گرفته، روی حصار شهر برای بت موآبی‌ها قربانی کرد. خشم عظیمی بر علیه اسرائیل پدید آمد، و سربازان اسرائیل عقب‌نشینی کرده، به سرزمین خود بازگشتند.

Then he tooke his eldest sonne, that should haue reigned in his stead, and offered him for a burnt offring vpon the wall: so that Israel was sore grieued, and they departed from him, and returned to their countrey.
