| بعد از مرگ اَخاب، پادشاه اسرائیل، قوم موآب علیه اسرائیل شورش کرد. | 1 |
And Moab rebelled against Israel after the death of Ahab.
| در آن روزها اخزیا، پادشاه جدید اسرائیل از ایوان طبقهٔ بالای قصر خود در سامره به زیر افتاده، به شدت مجروح شده بود. وی قاصدانی به معبد بعل‌زبوب، بُت اهالی عقرون فرستاد تا بپرسند که آیا بهبود خواهد یافت یا نه. | 2 |
And Ahaziah fell down through the lattice in his upper chamber which was in Samaria, and was sick; and he sent messengers and said to them, Go, inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, whether I shall recover from this disease.
| اما فرشتهٔ خداوند به ایلیای نبی دستور داد تا خود را به قاصدان پادشاه برساند و بگوید: «آیا در اسرائیل خدایی نیست که شما نزد بعل‌زبوب خدای عقرون می‌روید تا از او بپرسید که پادشاه بهبود می‌یابد یا نه؟ | 3 |
And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah the Tishbite, Arise, go up to meet the messengers of the king of Samaria, and say to them, Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that ye go to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron?
| به پادشاه بگویید که خداوند می‌فرماید: چون چنین کاری کرده‌ای از بستر بیماری برنخواهی خاست و خواهی مرد.» | 4 |
Now therefore thus saith Jehovah: Thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die. And Elijah departed.
| فرستادگان وقتی این خبر را از زبان ایلیا شنیدند نزد پادشاه بازگشتند. پادشاه از ایشان پرسید: «چرا به این زودی بازگشتید؟» | 5 |
And the messengers returned to him; and he said to them, Why have ye returned?
| گفتند: «در راه با شخصی روبرو شدیم و او به ما گفت تا نزد شما بازگردیم و بگوییم که خداوند می‌فرماید: چرا قاصدان می‌فرستی تا از بعل‌زبوب خدای عقرون سؤال کنند؟ مگر در اسرائیل خدایی وجود ندارد؟ حال که چنین کرده‌ای، از بستر بیماری برنخواهی خاست و خواهی مرد.» | 6 |
And they said unto him, A man came up to meet us, and said to us, Go, return to the king that sent you and say to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Is it because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die.
| پادشاه پرسید: «ظاهر این شخص چگونه بود؟» | 7 |
And he said to them, What manner of man was he that came up to meet you, and told you these words?
| گفتند: «پوستینی بر تن داشت و کمربندی چرمی بر کمر بسته بود.» پادشاه گفت: «او همان ایلیای تِشبی است!» | 8 |
And they said to him, He was a man in a hairy [garment], and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.
| پس سرداری را با پنجاه سرباز مأمور کرد تا او را بیاورند. آنها او را در حالی که روی تپه‌ای نشسته بود پیدا کردند. آن سردار به ایلیا گفت: «ای مرد خدا، پادشاه دستور داده است همراه ما بیایی.» | 9 |
And he sent to him a captain of fifty with his fifty. And he went up to him, and behold, he sat on the top of the mount. And he spoke to him: Man of God, the king says, Come down!
| ولی ایلیا جواب داد: «اگر من مرد خدا هستم، آتش از آسمان نازل شود و تو و پنجاه سربازت را نابود کند!» ناگهان آتش از آسمان نازل شد و آن سردار و سربازانش را کشت. | 10 |
And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, And if I be a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from the heavens, and consumed him and his fifty.
| پس پادشاه سردار دیگری را با پنجاه سرباز فرستاد تا به ایلیا بگوید: «ای مرد خدا، پادشاه دستور می‌دهد بی‌درنگ پایین بیایی.» | 11 |
And again he sent to him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he spoke and said to him, Man of God, thus says the king: Come down quickly!
| ایلیا جواب داد: «اگر من مرد خدا هستم آتش از آسمان نازل شود و تو و پنجاه سربازت را نابود کند!» بار دیگر آتش خدا از آسمان فرود آمد و آنها را نیز کشت. | 12 |
And Elijah answered and said to them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from the heavens and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from the heavens, and consumed him and his fifty.
| بار دیگر پادشاه پنجاه سرباز فرستاد، ولی این بار فرماندهٔ آنها در حضور ایلیا زانو زده، با التماس گفت: «ای مرد خدا، جان من و جان این پنجاه نفر خدمتگزارت را حفظ کن. | 13 |
And again he sent the captain of a third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him and said to him, Man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
| ببین چطور آتش از آسمان آمد و دو گروه قبلی را نابود کرد. حال، تو جان مرا حفظ کن.» | 14 |
Behold, there came down fire from the heavens, and consumed the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties; but now, let my life be precious in thy sight.
| آنگاه فرشتهٔ خداوند به ایلیا گفت: «نترس! همراه او برو.» پس ایلیا همراه آن سردار نزد پادشاه رفت. | 15 |
And the angel of Jehovah said to Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him to the king.
| ایلیا به پادشاه گفت: «خداوند می‌فرماید: چرا قاصدان نزد بعل‌زبوب خدای عقرون می‌فرستی تا دربارهٔ بهبودیت از او سؤال کنند؟ آیا به این دلیل چنین کردی که در اسرائیل خدایی نیست تا از او بپرسی؟ چون این کار را کرده‌ای، از بستر بیماری برنخواهی خاست و خواهی مرد.» | 16 |
And he said to him, Thus saith Jehovah: Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to inquire of Baal-zebub the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down from the bed on which thou art gone up, but shalt certainly die.
| پس اخزیا درگذشت، همان‌طور که خداوند به‌وسیلۀ ایلیا خبر داده بود؛ و چون پسری نداشت که جانشینش شود، برادرش یورام به جای او پادشاه شد. این واقعه در سال دوم سلطنت یهورام (پسر یهوشافاط) پادشاه یهودا اتفاق افتاد. | 17 |
And he died according to the word of Jehovah that Elijah had spoken. And Jehoram began to reign in his stead, in the second year of Jehoram the son of Jehoshaphat king of Judah; for he had no son.

And the rest of the acts of Ahaziah, what he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
