دوم تواریخ 28

1 آحاز در سن بیست سالگی پادشاه شد و شانزده سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد. او مانند جدش داوود مطابق میل خداوند رفتار ننمود.

Twenty years old, was Ahaz when he began to reign, and, sixteen years, reigned he in Jerusalem, —but he did not that which was right in the eyes of Yahweh, like David his father;

2 آحاز به پیروی از پادشاهان اسرائیل، بتهای بعل را می‌پرستید.

but walked in the ways of the kings of Israel, —yea, even molten images, made he to the Baalim;

3 او حتی به درهٔ هنوم رفت و نه فقط در آنجا برای بتها بخور سوزاند، بلکه پسران خود را نیز زنده‌زنده سوزانیده و قربانی بتها کرد. این رسم قومهایی بود که خداوند سرزمینشان را از آنها گرفته، به بنی‌اسرائیل داده بود.

and, he, burned incense, in the valley of the son of Hinnom, -and burnt his sons, in the fire, according to the abominable ways of the nations, whom Yahweh dispossessed from before the sons of Israel.

4 آحاز در بتخانه‌های روی تپه‌ها و بلندیها و زیر هر درخت سبز قربانی کرد و بخور سوزانید.

And he sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places, and upon the hills, —and under every green tree.

5 به همین علّت خداوند به پادشاه سوریه اجازه داد او را شکست دهد و عده زیادی از قومش را اسیر کرده، به دمشق ببرد. سربازان اسرائیل نیز عدهٔ زیادی از سربازان آحاز را کشتند.

Wherefore Yahweh his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria, who smote him, and carried away captive from him a large body of captives, and brought them into Damascus, —yea, even into the hand of the king of Israel, was he delivered, who smote him with a great smiting.

6 فقح (پسر رملیا)، پادشاه اسرائیل در یک روز صد و بیست هزار نفر از سربازان یهودا را کشت زیرا مردم یهودا از خداوند، خدای اجدادشان برگشته بودند.

And Pekah son of Remaliah slew, in Judah, a hundred and twenty thousand in one day, all, sons of valour, -because they had forsaken Yahweh, God of their fathers.

7 سپس یک جنگاور اسرائیلی از اهالی افرایم به نام زکری، معسیا پسر آحاز و عزریقام سرپرست امور دربار و القانه را که شخص دوم مملکت بود به قتل رساند.

And Zichri a hero of Ephraim, slew Maaseiah son of the king, and Azrikam, chief ruler of the house, —and Elkanah, that was next unto the king.

8 سپاهیان اسرائیل نیز دویست هزار زن و بچهٔ یهودی را اسیر کرده، با غنیمت فراوانی که به چنگ آورده بودند به سامره پایتخت اسرائیل بردند.

And the sons of Israel, carried away captive, from among their brethren two hundred thousand, wives, sons and daughters, moreover also, of much spoil, did they plunder them, —and brought the spoil to Samaria.

9 ولی عودید، نبی خداوند که در سامره بود به ملاقات سپاهیان اسرائیل که از جنگ بازمی‌گشتند رفت و به آنها گفت: «ببینید! خداوند، خدای اجداد شما بر یهودا خشمگین شد و گذاشت شما بر آنها پیروز شوید، ولی شما آنها را کشتید و نالهٔ آنها تا آسمان رسیده است.

But, in that place, was a prophet unto Yahweh, Oded his name, so he went out to meet the host that was coming unto Samaria, and said unto them, Lo! in the wrath of Yahweh, God of your fathers, against Judah, hath he delivered them into your hand, —and ye have slain them in a rage, until, to the heavens, it hath reached.

10 حالا هم می‌خواهید این زنها و بچه‌ها را که از اورشلیم و یهودا آورده‌اید غلام و کنیز خود سازید. آیا فکر می‌کنید که خود شما بی‌تقصیر هستید و بر ضد خداوند، خدای خود گناه نکرده‌اید؟

Now, therefore, ye, are thinking to tread down, the children of Judah and Jerusalem, as servants and as handmaids for yourselves. But is it not so—that, ye yourselves, are altogether guilty against Yahweh your God?

11 به حرف من گوش دهید و این اسیران را که بستگان خود شما هستند به خانه‌هایشان بازگردانید، زیرا هم اکنون آتش خشم خداوند بر شما شعله‌ور شده است.»

Now, therefore, hearken unto me, and restore the captives whom ye have taken captive from among your brethren, —for, the glow of the anger of Yahweh, is over you.

12 بعضی از سران قبیلهٔ افرایم نیز با سپاهیانی که از جنگ بازگشته بودند مخالفت کردند. آنها عبارت بودند از: عزریا پسر یهوحانان، برکیا پسر مشلیموت، یحِزِقیا پسر شلوم و عماسا پسر حدلای.

Then rose up certain of the chiefs of the sons of Ephraim—Azariah son of Jehohanan, Berechiah son of Meshillemoth, and Jehizkiah son of Shallum, and Amasa son of Hadlai, —against them who were coming in from the army;

13 ایشان اعتراض‌کنان گفتند: «نباید این اسیران را به اینجا بیاورید. اگر این کار را بکنید ما در نظر خداوند مقصر خواهیم بود. آیا می‌خواهید به بار گناهان ما بیافزایید؟ ما به اندازهٔ کافی برای گناهانمان مورد خشم خدا قرار گرفته‌ایم.»

and said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the captives hither, for, with guilt against Yahweh already upon us, ye, are thinking to add unto our sins, and unto our guilt, —for great is the guilt we have, and fierce is the anger over Israel.

14 پس سپاهیان تمام اسیران و غنایمی را که آورده بودند به قوم خود و رهبرانشان واگذار کردند تا دربارهٔ آنها تصمیم بگیرند.

So the armed men left the captives, and tile plunder, before the rulers, and all the convocation.

15 آنگاه چهار نفری که قبلاً نامشان برده شد، لباسهای غنیمت گرفته شده را بین اسیران توزیع کردند و به آنها کفش، نان و آب دادند و زخمهای بیماران را بستند. سپس کسانی را که ضعیف بودند بر الاغ سوار کرده، آنها را به شهر اریحا که به شهر نخلستان معروف بود، نزد خانواده‌هایشان بردند و خود به سامره بازگشتند.

Then rose up the men who have been expressed by name—and took the captives, and, all who were naked among them, clothed they out of the spoil, and arrayed them and sandalled them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and anointed them, and conducted them with asses for every one that was exhausted, and brought them to Jericho the city of palm-trees, near unto their brethren, —and then returned to Samaria.

16 در آن زمان، آحاز پادشاه یهودا از پادشاه آشور کمک طلبید.

At that time, sent King Ahaz unto the kings of Assyria to help him.

17 زیرا لشکر اَدوم دوباره یهودا را تسخیر کرده، عده‌ای را به اسارت برده بود.

For again had, the Edomites, come and smitten Judah, and carried away captives;

18 در ضمن فلسطینی‌ها نیز به شهرهایی که در دشتهای یهودا و در جنوب این سرزمین بودند هجوم آوردند و بیت‌شمس، ایلون، جدیروت، سوکو، تمنه، جمزو و روستاهای اطراف آنها را گرفتند و در آنها ساکن شدند.

and, the Philistines, had spread themselves out against the cities of the lowland and of the south, pertaining to Judah, and had captured Beth-shemesh and Aijalon and Gederoth, and Soco with its villages, and Timnah with its villages, and Gimzo, with its villages, —and dwelt there.

19 خداوند به سبب آحاز، یهودا را دچار مصیبت کرد، زیرا آحاز نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزید و یهودا را نیز به گناه کشاند.

For Yahweh had brought Judah low, because of Ahaz king of Israel, —for he had given the rein in Judah, and, been grievously unfaithful, with Yahweh.

20 اما وقتی تغلت فلاسر، پادشاه آشور آمد، به جای کمک به آحاز پادشاه، موجب ناراحتی و دردسر او شد.

And Tilgath-pilneser king of Assyria, came against him, —and distressed him, but strengthened him not.

21 هر چند آحاز طلا و نقرهٔ خانهٔ خداوند، خزانه‌های کاخ سلطنتی و خانه‌های سران قوم را به پادشاه آشور داد، ولی فایده‌ای نداشت.

For Ahaz took away a portion out of the house of Yahweh, and out of the house of the king, and the rulers, —and gave unto the king of Assyria, but he helped him not.

22 آحاز با وجود تمام این مشکلات، بیش از پیش نسبت به خداوند گناه ورزید.

And, in the time of his distress, he yet further acted unfaithfully with Yahweh, —he, King Ahaz!

23 او برای بتهای سوریه قربانی نمود زیرا فکر می‌کرد این بتها سوری‌ها را کمک کرده‌اند تا او را شکست دهند. پس او هم برای آنها قربانی کرد تا او را یاری کنند. ولی همین بتها باعث نابودی آحاز و تمام قوم او شدند.

For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus who had smitten him, and said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria are helping them, unto them, will I sacrifice, that they may help me. But, they, served to seduce him and all Israel.

24 آحاز ظروف و لوازم خانهٔ خدا را گرفته، در هم کوبید و درهای خانهٔ خداوند را بست تا دیگر کسی در آنجا عبادت نکند و در هر گوشهٔ اورشلیم برای بتها مذبح بنا کرد.

And Ahaz gathered together the utensils of the house of God, and brake away the fittings of the house of God, and shut up the doors of the house of Yahweh, —and made for himself altars at every corner in Jerusalem;

25 در هر یک از شهرهای یهودا بتکده‌هایی بر بالای تپه‌ها ساخت و برای بتها بخور سوزانید و به این طریق خشم خداوند، خدای اجدادش را برانگیخت.

and, in every several city of Judah, made he high places, for burning incense unto other gods, —and provoked Yahweh, God of his fathers.

26 شرح بقیهٔ رویدادهای دوران سلطنت آحاز و کارهای او، از ابتدا تا انتها، در کتاب «تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا و اسرائیل» نوشته شده است.

But, the rest of his story, and all his ways, first and last, there they are, written the book of the Kings of Judah and Israel.

27 وقتی آحاز مرد، او را در شهر اورشلیم دفن کردند، اما نه در آرامگاه سلطنتی. سپس پسرش حِزِقیا بر تخت سلطنت نشست.

And Ahaz slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city, in Jerusalem, but they brought him not into the sepulchres of the kings of Israel, —and Hezekiah his son reigned in his stead.
