دوم تواریخ 25

1 اَمَصیا بیست و پنج ساله بود که پادشاه شد و بیست و نه سال در اورشلیم سلطنت کرد. مادرش یهوعدان اورشلیمی بود.

Amaziah was fiue and twentie yere old when he began to reigne, and he reigned nine and twentie yeere in Ierusalem: and his mothers name was Iehoaddan, of Ierusalem.

2 او هر چه در نظر خداوند پسندیده بود انجام می‌داد، اما نه با تمام دل و جان.

And he did vprightly in the eyes of the Lord, but not with a perfite heart.

3 وقتی اَمَصیا زمام امور را در دست گرفت افرادی را که پدرش را کشته بودند، از بین برد،

And when the kingdome was established vnto him, he slewe his seruants, that had slaine the King his father.

4 ولی فرزندانشان را نکشت زیرا خداوند در تورات موسی امر فرموده بود که نه پدران برای گناه پسران کشته شوند و نه پسران به سبب گناه پدران، بلکه هر کس برای گناه خودش مجازات شود.

But he slewe not their children, but did as it is written in the Lawe, and in the booke of Moses, where the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not dye for the children, neyther shall the children die for the fathers, but euery man shall dye for his owne sinne.

5 اَمَصیا مردان خاندانهای یهودا و بنیامین را احضار کرد و از آنها سپاهی تشکیل داده، آنان را به چند دسته تقسیم کرد و برای هر دسته فرماندهی تعیین نمود. سپاه او از سیصد هزار مرد بیست ساله و بالاتر تشکیل شده بود که همه تعلیم دیده بودند و در به کار بردن نیزه و سپر، بسیار مهارت داشتند.

And Amaziah assembled Iudah, and made them captaines ouer thousandes, and captaines ouer hundreths, according to the houses of their fathers, thorowout all Iudah and Beniamin: and he nombred them from twentie yeere olde and aboue, and founde among them three hundreth thousand chosen men, to goe foorth to the warre, and to handle speare and shield.

6 علاوه بر این عده، با پرداخت سه هزار و چهارصد کیلوگرم نقره، صد هزار سرباز دیگر از اسرائیل اجیر کرد.

He hyred also an hundreth thousand valiant men out of Israel for an hundreth talents of siluer.

7 اما مرد خدایی نزد اَمَصیا آمده، گفت: «ای پادشاه، سربازان اسرائیلی را اجیر نکن، زیرا خداوند با آنها نیست. او این افرایمی‌ها را کمک نخواهد کرد.

But a man of God came to him, saying, O King, let not the armie of Israel goe with thee: for the Lord is not with Israel, neither with all the house of Ephraim.

8 اگر بگذاری آنها همراه سپاهیان تو به جنگ بروند، هر چند هم خوب بجنگید ولی عاقبت شکست خواهید خورد. زیرا خداست که می‌تواند انسان را پیروز سازد یا شکست دهد.»

If not, goe thou on, doe it, make thy selfe strong to the battel, but God shall make thee fall before the enemie: for God hath power to helpe, and to cast downe.

9 اَمَصیا گفت: «پس پولی که بابت اجیر کردن آنها پرداخته‌ام چه می‌شود؟» آن مرد خدا جواب داد: «خداوند قادر است بیش از این به تو بدهد.»

And Amaziah sayde to the man of God, What shall we doe then for the hundreth talents, which I haue giuen to the hoste of Israel? Then the man of God answered, The Lord is able to giue thee more then this.

10 پس اَمَصیا سربازان اجیر شدهٔ اسرائیلی را مرخص کرد تا به خانه‌هایشان در افرایم بازگردند. این موضوع خشم آنها را برانگیخت و آنها در شدت غضب به خانه‌های خود بازگشتند.

So Amaziah separated them, to wit, the armie that was come to him out of Ephraim, to returne to their place: wherefore their wrath was kindled greatly against Iudah, and they returned to their places with great anger.

11 آنگاه اَمَصیا با شجاعت سپاه خود را به «درهٔ نمک» برد و در آنجا ده هزار نفر از ادومی‌ها را کشت.

Then Amaziah was encouraged, and led forth his people, and went to the salt valley, and smote of the children of Seir, ten thousand.

12 سپاه اَمَصیا ده هزار نفر دیگر را گرفته، به بالای پرتگاهی بردند و آنها را از آنجا به زیر انداختند که بر روی تخته سنگهای پایین افتاده، متلاشی شدند.

And other ten thousand did the children of Iudah take aliue, and caryed them to the top of a rocke, and cast them downe from the top of the rocke, and they all burst to pieces.

13 در این ضمن، سربازان اسرائیلی که اَمَصیا آنها را به وطنشان بازگردانده بود، به شهرهای یهودا که بین بیت‌حورون و سامره قرار داشتند، هجوم بردند و سه هزار نفر را کشتند و غنیمت بسیار با خود بردند.

But the men of the armie, which Amaziah sent away, that they should not goe with his people to battell, fell vpon the cities of Iudah from Samaria vnto Beth-horon, and smote three thousand of them, and tooke much spoyle.

14 اَمَصیای پادشاه هنگام مراجعت از کشتار ادومی‌ها، بتهایی را که از دشمن گرفته و با خود آورده بود به عنوان خدایان بر پا داشت و آنها را سجده نمود و برای آنها بخور سوزانید.

Now after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them vp to be his gods, and worshipped them, and burned incense vnto them.

15 این عمل، خداوند را به خشم آورد و او یک نبی نزد اَمَصیا فرستاد. آن نبی به اَمَصیا گفت: «چرا خدایانی را پرستش کردی که حتی نتوانستند قوم خود را از دست تو برهانند؟»

Wherefore the Lord was wroth with Amaziah, and sent vnto him a Prophet, which sayd vnto him, Why hast thou sought the gods of the people, which were not able to deliuer their owne people out of thine hand?

16 پادشاه جواب داد: «مگر از تو نظر خواسته‌ام؟ ساکت شو! والا دستور می‌دهم تو را بکشند!» آن نبی این اخطار را به پادشاه داد و از نزد او رفت: «حال می‌دانم که خدا تصمیم گرفته تو را از میان بردارد، زیرا این بتها را سجده نموده‌ای و نصیحت مرا نپذیرفتی.»

And as he talked with him, he said vnto him, Haue they made thee the Kings counseler? cease thou: why should they smite thee? And the Prophet ceased, but said, I knowe that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not obeyed my counsell.

17 اَمَصیا، پادشاه یهودا با مشورت مشاوران خود به یهوآش، پادشاه اسرائیل (پسر یهوآحاز، نوهٔ ییهو) اعلان جنگ داد.

Then Amaziah King of Iudah tooke counsell, and sent to Ioash the sonne of Iehoahaz, the sonne of Iehu King of Israel, saying, Come, let vs see one another in the face.

18 اما یهوآش پادشاه اسرائیل با این مَثَل جواب اَمَصیا پادشاه یهودا را داد: «روزی در لبنان، یک بوتهٔ خار به یک درخت سرو آزاد گفت:”دخترت را به پسر من به زنی بده.“ولی درست در همین وقت حیوانی وحشی از آنجا عبور کرد و آن خار را پایمال نمود.

But Ioash King of Israel sent to Amaziah King of Iudah, saying, The thistle that is in Lebanon, sent to the cedar that is in Lebanon, saying, Giue thy daughter to my sonne to wife: and the wilde beast that was in Lebanon went and trode downe the thistle.

19 تو از فتح ادوم مغرور شده‌ای و به خود می‌بالی، اما به تو نصیحت می‌کنم که در سرزمینت بمانی و با من درگیر نشوی. چرا می‌خواهی کاری کنی که به زیان تو و مردم یهودا تمام شود؟»

Thou thinkest: lo, thou hast smitten Edom, and thine heart lifteth thee vp to bragge: abide now at home: why doest thou prouoke to thine hurt, that thou shouldest fall, and Iudah with thee?

20 ولی اَمَصیا به حرفهای او گوش نداد زیرا خدا ترتیبی داده بود که او را به سبب پرستش بتهای ادوم به دست دشمن نابود کند.

But Amaziah would not heare: for it was of God, that he might deliuer them into his had, because they had sought the gods of Edom.

21 پس یهوآش، پادشاه اسرائیل سپاه خود را آمادهٔ جنگ با امصیا پادشاه یهودا کرد. جنگ در بیت‌شمس، یکی از شهرهای یهودا، درگرفت.

So Ioash the King of Israel went vp: and he, and Amaziah King of Iudah saw one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which is in Iudah.

22 سپاه یهودا شکست خورد و سربازان به شهرهای خود فرار کردند.

And Iudah was put to the worse before Israel, and they fled euery man to his tents.

23 یهوآش (پادشاه اسرائیل)، اَمَصیا پادشاهِ مغلوبِ یهودا را اسیر کرده، به اورشلیم برد. یهوآش دستور داد که حصار اورشلیم را از دروازهٔ افرایم تا دروازهٔ زاویه که طولش حدود دویست متر بود در هم بکوبند.

But Ioash the King of Israel tooke Amaziah King of Iudah, the sonne of Ioash, the sonne of Iehoahaz in Bethshemesh, and brought him to Ierusalem, and brake downe the wall of Ierusalem, from the gate of Ephraim vnto the corner gate, foure hundreth cubites.

24 او عده‌ای را گروگان گرفت و تمام طلا و نقره و لوازم خانهٔ خدا را که نگهداری آنها به عهدهٔ عوبید ادوم بود و نیز موجودی خزانه‌های کاخ سلطنتی را برداشته، به سامره بازگشت.

And he tooke all the gold and the siluer, and all the vessels that were found in the house of God with Obed Edom, and in the treasures of the Kings house, and the children that were in hostage, and returned to Samaria.

25 اَمَصیا پادشاه یهودا بعد از مرگ یهوآش پانزده سال دیگر هم زندگی کرد.

And Amaziah the sonne of Ioash King of Iudah liued after the death of Ioash sonne of Iehoahaz King of Israel, fifteene yeere.

26 شرح بقیهٔ رویدادهای دوران سلطنت اَمَصیا، از ابتدا تا انتها، در کتاب «تاریخ پادشاهان یهودا و اسرائیل» نوشته شده است.

Concerning the rest of the actes of Amaziah first and last, are they not written in the booke of the Kings of Iudah and Israel?

27 اَمَصیا از پیروی خداوند برگشت و در اورشلیم علیه او توطئه چیدند و او به لاکیش گریخت، ولی دشمنانش او را تعقیب کرده در آنجا او را کشتند؛

Nowe after the time that Amaziah did turne away from ye Lord, they wrought treason against him in Ierusalem: and when he was fled to Lachish, they sent to Lachish after him, and slewe him there.

28 سپس جنازه‌اش را روی اسب گذاشته، به اورشلیم آوردند و او را در آرامگاه سلطنتی دفن کردند.

And they brought him vpon horses, and buried him with his fathers in the citie of Iudah.
