اول سموئیل 31
| فلسطینی‌ها با اسرائیلی‌ها وارد جنگ شدند و آنها را شکست دادند. اسرائیلی‌ها فرار کردند و در دامنهٔ کوه جلبوع، تلفات زیادی به جای گذاشتند. | 1 |
Now the Philistines fought against Israel: and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
| فلسطینی‌ها شائول و پسران او یوناتان، ابیناداب و ملکیشوع را محاصره کردند و پسرانش را کشتند. | 2 |
And the Philistines followed hard upon Saul and upon his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchi-shua, Saul's sons.
| عرصه بر شائول تنگ شد و تیراندازان فلسطینی دورش را گرفته او را به سختی مجروح کردند. | 3 |
And the battle was severe against Saul, and the archers hit him; and he was severely wounded by the archers.
| پس شائول به سلاحدار خود گفت: «پیش از آنکه به دست این کافران بیفتم و با رسوایی کشته شوم، تو با شمشیرت مرا بکش!» ولی آن مرد ترسید این کار را بکند. پس شائول شمشیر خود را گرفت و خود را بر آن انداخت و مرد. | 4 |
Then said Saul to his armor-bearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through with it; lest these uncircumcised should come and thrust me through, and abuse me. But his armor-bearer would not; for he was exceedingly afraid. Therefore Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
| محافظ شائول چون او را مرده دید، او نیز خود را روی شمشیرش انداخت و همراه شائول مرد. | 5 |
And when his armor-bearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise upon his sword, and died with him.
| بدین ترتیب، شائول و سه پسرش و سلاحدار وی و همهٔ افرادش در آن روز کشته شدند. | 6 |
So Saul died, and his three sons, and his armor-bearer, and all his men, that same day together.
| اسرائیلی‌هایی که در آن سوی درۀ یزرعیل و شرق رود اردن بودند، وقتی شنیدند که سربازانشان فرار کرده و شائول و پسرانش کشته شده‌اند، شهرهای خود را ترک نموده گریختند. پس فلسطینی‌ها آمدند و در آن شهرها ساکن شدند. | 7 |
And when the men of Israel that [were] on the other side of the valley, and [they] that [were] on the other side of Jordan, saw that the men of Israel fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, they forsook the cities, and fled; and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
| در فردای آن روز، چون فلسطینی‌ها برای غارت کشته‌شدگان رفتند، جنازهٔ شائول و سه پسرش را که در کوه جلبوع افتاده بود یافتند. | 8 |
And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his three sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
| آنها سر شائول را از تنش جدا کرده، اسلحهٔ او را باز کردند، سپس جارچیان به سراسر فلسطین فرستادند تا خبر کشته شدن شائول را به بتخانه‌ها و مردم فلسطین برسانند. | 9 |
And they cut off his head, and stripped off his armor, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to publish [it in] the house of their idols, and among the people.
| اسلحهٔ شائول را در بتخانهٔ عشتاروت گذاشتند و جسدش را بر دیوار شهر بیتْ‌شان آویختند. | 10 |
And they put his armor in the house of Ashtaroth: and they fastened his body to the wall of Beth-shan.
| وقتی ساکنان یابیشِ جلعاد، آنچه را که فلسطینی‌ها بر سر شائول آورده بودند شنیدند، | 11 |
And when the inhabitants of Jabesh-gilead heard of that which the Philistines had done to Saul,
| مردان دلاور خود را به بیت‌شان فرستادند. آنها تمام شب در راه بودند تا سرانجام به بیتْ‌شان رسیدند و اجساد شائول و پسرانش را از دیوار پایین کشیده، به یابیش آوردند و آنها را در آنجا سوزاندند. | 12 |
All the valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to Jabesh, and burnt them there.
| سپس استخوانهای ایشان را گرفته، زیر درخت بلوطی که در یابیش است دفن کردند و هفت روز روزه گرفتند. | 13 |
And they took their bones, and buried [them] under a tree at Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
