اول سموئیل 24
| وقتی شائول از جنگ با فلسطینی‌ها مراجعت نمود، به او خبر دادند که داوود به صحرای عین جدی رفته است. | 1 |
It happened, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, "Look, David is in the wilderness of En Gedi."
| پس او با سه هزار نفر از بهترین سربازان خود به صحرای عین جدی رفت و در میان «صخره‌های بز کوهی» به جستجوی داوود و افرادش پرداخت. | 2 |
Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men on the rocks of the wild goats.
| بر سر راه به آغل گوسفندان رسید. در آنجا غاری بود. شائول وارد غار شد تا رفع حاجت نماید. اتفاقاً داوود و مردانش در انتهای غار مخفی شده بودند! | 3 |
He came to the sheep pens by the way, where there was a cave; and Saul went in to relieve himself. Now David and his men were abiding in the innermost parts of the cave.
| افراد داوود آهسته در گوش او گفتند: «امروز همان روزی است که خداوند وعده داده دشمنت را به دست تو تسلیم نماید تا هر چه می‌خواهی با او بکنی!» پس داوود آهسته جلو رفت و گوشهٔ ردای شائول را برید. | 4 |
The men of David said to him, "Look, the day of which Jehovah said to you, 'Look, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you.'" Then David arose, and cut off an edge of Saul's robe secretly.
| ولی بعد وجدانش ناراحت شد که این کار را کرده است | 5 |
It happened afterward, that David's heart struck him, because he had cut off an edge of Saul's robe.
| و به افراد خود گفت: «کار بدی کردم. وای بر من اگر کوچکترین آسیبی از طرف من به پادشاهم برسد، زیرا او برگزیدهٔ خداوند است.» | 6 |
He said to his men, "Jehovah forbid that I should do this thing to my lord, Jehovah's anointed, to put forth my hand against him, since he is Jehovah's anointed."
| داوود با این سخنان افرادش را سرزنش کرد و نگذاشت به شائول آسیبی برسانند. پس از اینکه شائول از غار خارج شد، داوود بیرون آمد و فریاد زد: «ای پادشاه من!» وقتی شائول برگشت، داوود او را تعظیم کرد | 7 |
So David persuaded his men with these words and did not allow them to rise up against Saul. Then Saul got up, and went down the road.

Afterward David also got up and left the cave, and called out after Saul, saying, "My lord the king." When Saul looked behind him, David bowed with his face to the ground and did homage.
| و گفت: «چرا به حرف مردم گوش می‌دهی که می‌گویند من قصد جان توا را دارم؟ امروز به تو ثابت شد که این سخن حقیقت ندارد. خداوند تو را در این غار به دست من تسلیم نمود و بعضی از افرادم گفتند که تو را بکشم، اما من این کار را نکردم. به آنها گفتم که او پادشاه برگزیدهٔ خداوند است و من هرگز به او آسیبی نخواهم رساند. | 9 |
David said to Saul, "Why do you listen to men's words, saying, 'Look, David seeks your harm?'

Look, this day your eyes have seen how that Jehovah had delivered you today into my hand in the cave, but I refused to kill you, and my eye spared you; and I said, 'I will not put forth my hand against my lord; for he is Jehovah's anointed.'
| ببین ای پدر من، قسمتی از ردایت در دست من است. من آن را بریدم، ولی تو را نکشتم! آیا همین به تو ثابت نمی‌کند که من قصد آزار تو را ندارم و نسبت به تو گناه نکرده‌ام، هر چند تو در تعقیب من هستی تا مرا نابود کنی؟ | 11 |
Now look, the skirt of your robe in my hand. When I cut off the skirt, and did not kill you, know and see that there is neither evil nor disobedience in my hand, and I have not sinned against you, though you hunt for my life to take it.
| خداوند در میان من و تو حکم کند و انتقام مرا خودش از تو بگیرد. ولی از طرف من هیچ بدی به تو نخواهد رسید. چنانکه مَثَلی قدیمی می‌گوید:”بدی از آدم بد صادر می‌شود.“پس مطمئن باش من به تو آسیبی نمی‌رسانم. | 12 |
May Jehovah judge between me and you, and may Jehovah avenge me of you; but my hand shall not be on you.

As the proverb of the ancients says, 'Out of the wicked comes forth wickedness;' but my hand shall not be on you.
| پادشاه اسرائیل در تعقیب چه کسی است؟ آیا حیف نیست که پادشاه وقتش را برای من که به اندازهٔ یک سگ مرده یا یک کک ارزش ندارم تلف نماید؟ | 14 |
Against whom has the king of Israel come out? Whom do you pursue? After a dead dog, or one flea?
| خداوند خودش بین ما داوری کند تا معلوم شود مقصر کیست. خداوند خودش از حق من دفاع کند و مرا از چنگ تو برهاند!» | 15 |
May Jehovah therefore be judge and give sentence between me and you. May he see and plead my cause, and deliver me out of your hand."
| وقتی داوود صحبت خود را تمام کرد، شائول گفت: «پسرم داوود، آیا این صدای توست؟» و گریه امانش نداد. او به داوود گفت: «تو از من بهتر هستی. چون تو در حق من خوبی کرده‌ای، ولی من نسبت به تو بدی کرده‌ام. | 16 |
It came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words to Saul, that Saul said, "Is this your voice, my son David?" Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.

He said to David, "You are more righteous than I; for you have done good to me, whereas I have done evil to you.
| آری، تو امروز نشان دادی که نسبت به من مهربان هستی، زیرا خداوند مرا به تو تسلیم نمود، اما تو مرا نکشتی. | 18 |
And you have declared this day how you have dealt well with me, in that Jehovah had delivered me up into your hand and you did not kill me.
| کیست که دشمن خود را در چنگ خویش بیابد، ولی او را نکشد؟ به خاطر این لطفی که تو امروز به من کردی، خداوند به تو پاداش خوبی بدهد. | 19 |
For if a man finds his enemy, will he let him go away unharmed? Therefore may Jehovah reward you good for that which you have done this day.
| حال مطمئنم که تو پادشاه اسرائیل خواهی شد و حکومت خود را تثبیت خواهی کرد. | 20 |
Now, look, I know that you shall surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in your hand.
| به خداوند قسم بخور که وقتی به پادشاهی رسیدی، خاندان مرا از بین نبری و بگذاری اسم من باقی بماند.» | 21 |
Swear now therefore to me by Jehovah, that you will not cut off my descendants after me, and that you will not destroy my name out of my father's house."
| پس داوود برای او قسم خورد و شائول به خانهٔ خود رفت، ولی داوود و همراهانش به مخفیگاه خود برگشتند. | 22 |
David swore to Saul. Saul went home; but David and his men went up to the stronghold.
