اول سموئیل 2

1 حنا چنین دعا کرد: «خداوند قلب مرا از شادی لبریز ساخته است، او به من قدرت بخشیده و مرا تقویت نموده است. بر دشمنانم می‌خندم و خوشحالم، چون خداوند مرا یاری کرده است!

Then prayed Hannah, and said, My heart hath leaped for joy in Yahweh, My horn is exalted in Yahweh, My mouth is opened wide, o’er my foes, Because I rejoice in thy salvation.

2 «هیچ‌کس مثل خداوند مقدّس نیست، غیر از او خدایی نیست، مثل خدای ما صخره‌ای نیست.

There is none holy like Yahweh, Nay! there, is none, except Thee, Nor, is, there a rock, like our God.

3 «از سخنان و رفتار متکبرانه دست بردارید، زیرا یهوه، خدای دانا است؛ اوست که کارهای مردم را داوری می‌کند.

Do not multiply words, so loftily—loftily, Nor let arrogance proceed from your mouth, —For, a GOD of knowledge, is Yahweh, And, for himself, are great doings made firm.

4 کمان جنگاوران شکسته شد، اما افتادگان قوت یافتند.

The bow of the mighty, is dismayed, —While, the fainting, are girded with strength;

5 آنانی که سیر بودند برای نان، خود را اجیر کردند، ولی کسانی که گرسنه بودند سیر و راحت شدند. زن نازا هفت فرزند زاییده است، اما آنکه فرزندان زیاد داشت، بی‌اولاد شده است.

The sated, have, for bread, taken hire, But, the famished, have left off their toil, —So that, the barren, hath given birth unto seven, While, she that hath many sons, languisheth:

6 «خداوند می‌میراند و زنده می‌کند، به گور فرو می‌برد و بر می‌خیزاند. (Sheol h7585)

Yahweh, doth kill, and make alive, —Taketh down to hades, and bringeth up: (Sheol h7585)

7 خداوند فقیر می‌کند و غنی می‌سازد، پست می‌کند و بلند می‌گرداند.

Yahweh, maketh poor, and enricheth, —Layeth low, yea exalteth;

8 فقیر را از خاک بر می‌افرازد، محتاج را از بدبختی بیرون می‌کشد، و ایشان را چون شاهزادگان بر تخت عزت می‌نشاند. ستونهای زمین از آن خداوند است، او بر آنها زمین را استوار کرده است.

Raiseth, from the dust, the poor, From the dunghill, uplifteth the needy, To give them a dwelling with nobles, And, a throne of glory, to make them inherit. For, to Yahweh, belong the pillars of the earth, And he setteth thereon the habitable world.

9 «خدا مقدّسین خود را حفظ می‌کند، اما بدکاران در تاریکی محو می‌شوند؛ انسان با قدرت خود نیست که موفق می‌شود.

The feet of his loving ones, he doth guard, But, the lawless, in darkness shall be silent, —For, by strength, shall no man prevail.

10 کسانی که با خداوند مخالفت کنند نابود می‌گردند. خدا بر آنها از آسمان صاعقه خواهد فرستاد؛ خداوند بر تمام دنیا داوری خواهد کرد. او به پادشاه خود قدرت می‌بخشد، و برگزیدهٔ خود را پیروز می‌گرداند.»

As for Yahweh, —they shall be shattered who contend with him, Over him, in the heavens will he thunder, Yahweh, will judge the ends of the earth, —That he may give strength to his King, And exalt the horn of his Anointed One.

11 آنگاه القانه به خانهٔ خود در رامه برگشت، ولی سموئیل در شیلوه ماند و زیر نظر عیلی به خدمت خداوند مشغول شد.

Then went Elkanah to Ramah, unto his own house, —but, the boy, remained ministering unto Yahweh, before Eli the priest.

12 اما پسران خود عیلی بسیار فاسد بودند و خداوند را نمی‌شناختند.

Now, the sons of Eli, were abandoned men, —they knew not Yahweh.

13 وقتی کسی قربانی می‌کرد و گوشت قربانی را در دیگ می‌گذاشت تا بپزد، آنها یکی از نوکران خود را با چنگال سه دندانه‌ای می‌فرستادند تا آن را به داخل دیگ فرو برد و از گوشتی که در حال پختن بود هر قدر بیرون می‌آمد برای ایشان ببرد. پسران عیلی به همین طریق با تمام بنی‌اسرائیل که برای عبادت به شیلوه می‌آمدند، رفتار می‌کردند.

And, the custom of the priests with the people, was—when any man offered a sacrifice, then would come the priests young man, as the flesh was boiling, with a three-pronged fork in his hand;

and would strike it into the boiler, or into the trough, or into the kettle, or into the pot, all that the fork would bring up, the priest took for himself. Thus and thus, used they to do unto all Israel, who came thither, in Shiloh.

15 گاهی نوکر ایشان پیش کسانی که می‌خواستند قربانی کنند می‌آمد و پیش از سوزاندن چربی قربانی، از آنها گوشت مطالبه می‌کرد؛ او به جای گوشت پخته، گوشت خام می‌خواست تا برای پسران عیلی کباب کند.

Also, before any could make perfume with the fat, the priests young man would come in and say to the person who was sacrificing, Come! give flesh for the priest’s roastings, —for he will not take of thee boiled flesh—only raw.

16 اگر کسی اعتراض می‌نمود و می‌گفت: «اول بگذار چربی آن بر مذبح سوزانده شود، بعد هر قدر گوشت می‌خواهی بردار.» آن نوکر می‌گفت: «نه، گوشت را حالا به من بده، و گرنه خودم به زور می‌گیرم.»

And, if the man said to him, Let them at least, make incense, at once with the fat, then take thou as much as thy soul craveth, Then said he to him, But, at once, shalt thou give it; or else, I will take it by force.

17 گناه آن مردان جوان در نظر خداوند بسیار عظیم بود، زیرا به قربانیهایی که مردم به خداوند تقدیم می‌کردند، بی‌احترامی می‌نمودند.

And so it was, that, the sin of the young men, was exceeding great, before Yahweh, —for men scorned the offerings of Yahweh.

18 سموئیل هر چند بچه‌ای بیش نبود، ولی جلیقهٔ مخصوص کاهنان را می‌پوشید و خداوند را خدمت می‌نمود.

But, as for Samuel, he was ministering before Yahweh, —a boy girded with an ephod of linen.

19 مادرش هر سال یک ردای کوچک برای سموئیل می‌دوخت و هنگامی که با شوهرش برای قربانی کردن می‌آمد، آن را به سموئیل می‌داد.

Also, a little robe, used his mother to make for him, and bring it up to him, from year to year, —when she came up with her husband, to offer the sacrifice of the year.

20 پیش از بازگشت به خانه، عیلی کاهن، القانه و زنش را برکت می‌داد و برای ایشان دعا می‌کرد که خداوند فرزندان دیگر نیز به آنها بدهد تا جای سموئیل را که در خدمت خداوند بود، بگیرند.

And Eli used to bless Elkanah and his wife, and to say—Yahweh give thee seed of this woman, instead of the loan that hath been lent unto Yahweh. So they went their way to his own place.

21 پس خداوند سه پسر و دو دختر دیگر به حنا بخشید. در ضمن، سموئیل در حضور خداوند رشد می‌کرد.

And Yahweh visited Hannah, and she conceived, and bare three sons, and two daughters. Thus did the boy Samuel grow up with Yahweh.

22 عیلی خیلی پیر شده بود. او از رفتار پسرانش با قوم اسرائیل اطلاع داشت و می‌دانست که پسرانش با زنانی که کنار مدخل خیمهٔ ملاقات خدمت می‌کنند همخواب می‌شوند.

Now, Eli, was very old, —but he used to hear all that his sons did unto all Israel, and how they even lay with the women who did service, at the opening of the tent of meeting.

23 پس به پسرانش گفت: «چرا چنین می‌کنید؟ دربارهٔ کارهای بد شما از تمام قوم می‌شنوم.

So he said to them, Wherefore should ye do such things as these? for I keep hearing of your wicked doings, from all these people.

24 ای پسرانم، از این کارها دست بردارید. آنچه از قوم خداوند دربارهٔ شما می‌شنوم، خوب نیست.

Nay, my sons! for it is no good report that I do hear: leading into transgression the people of Yahweh.

25 اگر کسی نسبت به همنوع خود گناه ورزد، خدا ممکن است برای او شفاعت کند، اما برای کسی که بر ضد خود خداوند گناه ورزد، کیست که بتواند شفاعت نماید؟» ولی آنها به سخنان پدر خود گوش ندادند، زیرا خداوند می‌خواست آنها را هلاک کند.

If one man sin against another, God will interpose, but, if, against Yahweh, a man sin, who will intercede, for him? But they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, for Yahweh was pleased to put them to death.

26 اما سموئیل کوچک رشد می‌کرد و خداوند و مردم او را دوست می‌داشتند.

But, the boy Samuel, went on growing in stature, and in favour, —both with Yahweh, and also with men.

27 روزی مرد خدایی نزد عیلی آمد و از طرف خداوند برای او این پیغام را آورد: «آیا خود را بر خاندان پدرت ظاهر نساختم، وقتی که قوم در مصر اسیر فرعون بودند؟

And there came a man of God, unto Eli, —and said unto him—Thus, saith Yahweh, I, did indeed reveal myself, unto the house of thy father, when they were in Egypt, as servants unto the house of Pharaoh;

28 آیا از میان تمام قبایل اسرائیل، جد تو هارون را انتخاب نکردم تا کاهن من باشد و بر مذبح من قربانی کند و بخور بسوزاند و لباس کاهنی را در حضورم بپوشد؟ آیا تمام هدایایی را که قوم اسرائیل بر آتش تقدیم می‌کنند، برای شما کاهنان تعیین نکردم؟

choosing him out of all the tribes of Israel unto myself, to minister as priest, to offer upon mine altar, to perfume with incense to bear an ephod before me, —Therefore gave I unto the house of thy father all the altar-flames of the sons of Israel.

29 پس چرا اینقدر حریص هستید و قربانیها و هدایایی را که برای من می‌آورند، تحقیر می‌کنید؟ چرا پسران خود را بیش از من احترام می‌کنی؟ تو و پسرانت با خوردن بهترین قسمتِ هدایای قوم من، خود را چاق و فربه ساخته‌اید.

Wherefore have ye been kicking at my sacrifices, and my presents, which I commanded, to serve for a home, —and shouldest have honoured thy sons more than me: fattening yourselves, with the first of every present of Israel, before me?

30 بنابراین، من که خداوند، خدای اسرائیل هستم اعلان می‌کنم که اگرچه گفتم که خاندان تو و خاندان پدرت برای همیشه کاهنان من خواهند بود، اما شما را از این خدمت برکنار می‌کنم. هر که مرا احترام کند، او را احترام خواهم نمود و هر که مرا تحقیر کند او را تحقیر خواهم کرد.

Hence, the oracle of Yahweh God of Israel, I, said, that, thy house, and the house of thy father, should go to and fro in my presence, unto times age-abiding: But, now, (is the oracle of Yahweh)—Be it far from me! For, them who honour me, will I honour, but, they who despise me, shall be lightly esteemed.

31 زمانی می‌رسد که خاندان تو را برخواهم انداخت به طوری که افراد خانه‌ات همه جوانمرگ شده، به سن پیری نخواهند رسید

Lo! days are coming, when I will hew off thine arm, and the arm of the house of thy father, —that there shall be no elder in thy house;

32 و چشمان تو مصیبتی را که دامنگیر عبادتگاه من می‌شود خواهد دید. من به بنی‌اسرائیل برکت خواهم داد، اما در خاندان تو کسی به سن پیری نخواهد رسید.

But thou shalt descry distress at home, in all that shall gladden Israel, —and there shall not be an elder in thine own house, all the days.

33 آنانی نیز که از خاندان تو باقی بمانند، باعث غم و رنج تو خواهند شد و تمام نسل تو در جوانی خواهند مرد.

But, any man of thine whom I may not cut off from mine altar, it shall be—to consume his eyes, and grieve his soul; Howbeit, all the multitude of thy house, shall die, by the sword of men.

34 برای اینکه ثابت شود هر آنچه به تو گفتم واقع خواهد شد، بدان که دو پسرت حُفنی و فینحاس در یک روز خواهند مرد!

And, this, for thee is the sign, which shall come upon thy two sons, upon Hophni and Phinehas, —In one day, shall they, both of them, die;

35 «سپس کاهن امینی روی کار خواهم آورد که مطابق میل من خدمت کند و هر آنچه را که به او دستور دهم انجام دهد. به او فرزندان خواهم بخشید و آنها برای پادشاه برگزیدهٔ من تا ابد کاهن خواهند شد.

And I will raise me up a faithful priest, According to that which is in my heart and in my soul, will he do; Therefore will I build for him an assured house, and he shall go to and fro in presence of mine Anointed, all the days.

36 آنگاه هر که از خاندان تو باقی مانده باشد برای پول و نان در برابر او زانو زده، تعظیم خواهد کرد و خواهد گفت: التماس می‌کنم در میان کاهنان خود به من کاری بدهید تا شکم خود را سیر کنم.»

And it shall be, that, any that is left in thy house, shall come bowing down to him for a small coin of silver, and for a cake of bread, and shall say: Appoint me, I pray thee, to one of the priestly offices, that I may eat a morsel of bread.
