اول سموئیل 16
| سرانجام خداوند به سموئیل فرمود: «بیش از این برای شائول عزا نگیر، چون من او را از سلطنت اسرائیل برکنار کرده‌ام. حال، یک ظرف روغن زیتون بردار و به خانهٔ یَسای بیت‌لحمی برو، زیرا یکی از پسران او را برگزیده‌ام تا پادشاه اسرائیل باشد.» | 1 |
and to say LORD to(wards) Samuel till how you(m. s.) to mourn to(wards) Saul and I to reject him from to reign upon Israel to fill horn your oil and to go: went to send: depart you to(wards) Jesse Bethlehemite [the] Bethlehemite for to see: select in/on/with son: child his to/for me king
| ولی سموئیل پرسید: «چطور می‌توانم این کار را بکنم؟ اگر شائول بشنود مرا می‌کشد!» خداوند پاسخ داد: «گوساله‌ای ماده با خود ببر و بگو آمده‌ای تا برای خداوند قربانی کنی. | 2 |
and to say Samuel how? to go: went and to hear: hear Saul and to kill me and to say LORD heifer cattle to take: take in/on/with hand: themselves your and to say to/for to sacrifice to/for LORD to come (in): come
| بعد یَسا را به مذبح دعوت کن، آنگاه به تو نشان خواهم داد که کدام یک از پسرانش را باید برای پادشاهی تدهین کنی.» | 3 |
and to call: call to to/for Jesse in/on/with sacrifice and I to know you [obj] which to make: do and to anoint to/for me [obj] which to say to(wards) you
| سموئیل طبق دستور خداوند عمل کرد. وقتی به بیت‌لحم رسید، بزرگان شهر با ترس و لرز به استقبالش آمدند و پرسیدند: «چه اتفاقی افتاده است؟» | 4 |

| سموئیل جواب داد: «نترسید، هیچ اتفاق بدی نیفتاده است. آمده‌ام تا برای خداوند قربانی کنم. خود را تقدیس کنید و همراه من برای قربانی کردن بیایید.» او یَسا و پسرانش را تقدیس کرد و آنها را به قربانی دعوت نمود. | 5 |

| وقتی پسران یَسا آمدند، سموئیل چشمش به الیاب افتاد و فکر کرد او همان کسی است که خداوند برگزیده است. | 6 |
and to be in/on/with to come (in): come they and to see: see [obj] Eliab and to say surely before LORD anointed his
| اما خداوند به سموئیل فرمود: «به چهرهٔ او و بلندی قدش نگاه نکن، زیرا او آن کسی نیست که من در نظر گرفته‌ام. من مثل انسان قضاوت نمی‌کنم. انسان به ظاهر نگاه می‌کند، اما من به دل.» | 7 |

| پس یَسا ابیناداب را نزد سموئیل خواند. خداوند فرمود: «او نیز شخص مورد نظر نیست.» | 8 |
and to call: call to Jesse to(wards) Abinadab and to pass him to/for face: before Samuel and to say also in/on/with this not to choose LORD
| بعد یَسا شمعا را احضار نمود، اما خداوند فرمود: «این هم آنکه من می‌خواهم نیست.» | 9 |
and to pass Jesse Shammah and to say also in/on/with this not to choose LORD
| به همین ترتیب یَسا هفت پسرش را احضار نمود و همه رد شدند. سموئیل به یَسا گفت: «خداوند هیچ‌یک از اینها را برنگزیده است. آیا تمام پسرانت اینها هستند؟» یَسا پاسخ داد: «یکی دیگر هم دارم که از همه کوچکتر است. اما او در صحرا مشغول چرانیدن گوسفندان است.» سموئیل گفت: «فوری کسی را بفرست تا او را بیاورد چون تا او نیاید ما سر سفره نخواهیم نشست.» | 10 |

| پس یَسا فرستاد و او را آوردند. او پسری شاداب و خوش‌قیافه بود و چشمانی زیبا داشت. خداوند فرمود: «این همان کسی است که من برگزیده‌ام. او را تدهین کن.» | 12 |
and to send: depart and to come (in): bring him and he/she/it red with beautiful eye and pleasant sight and to say LORD to arise: rise to anoint him for this he/she/it
| سموئیل ظرف روغن زیتون را که با خود آورده بود برداشت و بر سر داوود که در میان برادرانش ایستاده بود، ریخت. روح خداوند بر او نازل شد و از آن روز به بعد بر او قرار داشت. سپس سموئیل به خانهٔ خود در رامه بازگشت. | 13 |

| روح خداوند از شائول دور شد و به جای آن روح پلید از جانب خداوند او را سخت عذاب می‌داد. | 14 |
and spirit LORD to turn aside: depart from from with Saul and to terrify him spirit bad: harmful from with LORD
| بعضی از افراد شائول به او گفتند: «اگر اجازه دهی، نوازنده‌ای که در نواختن چنگ ماهر باشد پیدا کنیم تا هر وقت روح پلید تو را آزار می‌دهد، برایت چنگ بنوازد و تو را آرامش دهد.» | 15 |

| شائول گفت: «بسیار خوب، نوازندهٔ ماهری پیدا کنید و نزد من بیاورید.» | 17 |
and to say Saul to(wards) servant/slave his to see: behold! please to/for me man be good to/for to play and to come (in): bring to(wards) me
| یکی از افرادش گفت: «پسر یَسای بیت‌لحمی خیلی خوب می‌نوازد. در ضمن جوانی است شجاع و جنگاور. او خوش‌بیان و خوش‌قیافه است، و خداوند با او می‌باشد.» | 18 |
and to answer one from [the] youth and to say behold to see: see son: child to/for Jesse Bethlehemite [the] Bethlehemite to know to play and mighty man strength and man battle and to understand word: speaking and man appearance and LORD with him
| شائول قاصدانی به خانهٔ یَسا فرستاد تا داوود چوپان را نزد وی ببرند. | 19 |
and to send: depart Saul messenger to(wards) Jesse and to say to send: depart [emph?] to(wards) me [obj] David son: child your which in/on/with flock
| یَسا الاغی را با نان و مشکی شراب و یک بزغاله بار کرد و همه را همراه داوود نزد شائول فرستاد. | 20 |
and to take: take Jesse donkey food: bread and wineskin wine and kid goat one and to send: depart in/on/with hand: by David son: child his to(wards) Saul
| شائول وقتی چشمش به داوود افتاد از او خوشش آمد و داوود سلاحدار شائول شد. | 21 |
and to come (in): come David to(wards) Saul and to stand: appoint to/for face: before his and to love: lover him much and to be to/for him to lift: bearing(armour) article/utensil
| پس شائول برای یَسا پیغام فرستاده، گفت: «بگذار داوود پیش من بماند، چون از او خوشم آمده است.» | 22 |
and to send: depart Saul to(wards) Jesse to/for to say to stand: stand please David to/for face: before my for to find favor in/on/with eye: seeing my
| هر وقت آن روح پلید از جانب خدا شائول را آزار می‌داد، داوود برایش چنگ می‌نواخت و روح بد از او دور می‌شد و او احساس آرامش می‌کرد. | 23 |
