| داوود پادشاه بسیار پیر شده بود و هر چند او را با لحاف می‌پوشاندند، ولی گرم نمی‌شد. | 1 |
When King David was old and advanced in years, they covered him with blankets, but he could not keep warm.
| مشاورانش به او گفتند: «درمان تو در این است که یک دختر جوان از تو پرستاری کند و در آغوشت بخوابد تا گرم بشوی.» | 2 |
So his servants said to him, “Let us look for a young virgin for our master the king. Let her serve the king and take care of him. Let her lie in his arms so that our master the king may keep warm.”
| پس در سراسر کشور اسرائیل گشتند تا زیباترین دختر را برای او پیدا کنند. سرانجام دختری بسیار زیبا به نام ابیشگ از اهالی شونم انتخاب شد. او را نزد پادشاه آوردند و او مشغول پرستاری از پادشاه شد، ولی پادشاه با او نزدیکی نکرد. | 3 |
So they searched for a beautiful girl within all the borders of Israel. They found Abishag the Shunammite and brought her to the king.

The girl was very beautiful. She served the king and took care of him, but the king did not have sexual relations with her.
| پس از مرگ ابشالوم، پسر بعدی پادشاه به نام ادونیا که مادرش حجیت بود، به این فکر افتاد تا بر تخت سلطنت بنشیند. از این رو ارابه‌ها و ارابه‌رانان و یک گارد پنجاه نفره برای خود گرفت. ادونیا جوانی بود خوش‌اندام، و پدرش داوود پادشاه در تمام عمرش هرگز برای هیچ کاری او را سرزنش نکرده بود. | 5 |
At that time, Adonijah son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will be king.” So he prepared for himself chariots and horsemen with fifty men to run ahead of him.

His father had never troubled him, saying, “Why have you done this or that?” Adonijah was also a very handsome man, born next after Absalom.
| ادونیا نقشهٔ خود را به اطلاع یوآب و اَبیّاتار کاهن رساند و آنها نیز قول دادند از او حمایت کنند. | 7 |
He conferred with Joab son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest. They followed Adonijah and helped him.
| اما صادوق کاهن، بنایا، ناتان نبی، شمعی، ریعی و محافظان داوود از ادونیا حمایت نکردند. | 8 |
But Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, Nathan the prophet, Shimei, Rei, and the mighty men who belonged to David did not follow Adonijah.
| یک روز ادونیا به عین روجل رفت و در محلی به نام «سنگِ مار» مهمانی مفصلی ترتیب داد و گاوان و گوسفندان ذبح کردند. او پسران دیگر پادشاه و مقامات دربار را که از یهودا بودند دعوت کرد تا در جشن شرکت کنند. | 9 |
Adonijah sacrificed sheep, oxen, and fattened calves by the stone of Zoheleth, which is beside En Rogel. He invited all his brothers, the king's sons, and all the men of Judah, the king's servants.
| اما او ناتان نبی و بنایا و محافظان دربار و برادر ناتنی خود سلیمان را به آن مهمانی دعوت نکرد. | 10 |
But he did not invite Nathan the prophet, Benaiah, the mighty men, or his brother Solomon.
| پس ناتان نبی نزد بَتشِبَع مادر سلیمان رفت و به او گفت: «آیا می‌دانی که ادونیا پسر حجیت، خود را پادشاه نامیده و پادشاه ما داوود از این موضوع بی‌خبر است؟ | 11 |
Then Nathan spoke to Bathsheba the mother of Solomon, saying, “Have you not heard that Adonijah son of Haggith has become king, and David our master does not know it?
| اگر می‌خواهی جان خودت و پسرت سلیمان را نجات بدهی، آنچه می‌گویم، انجام بده. | 12 |
Now therefore let me give you advice, so that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.
| پیش داوود پادشاه برو و به او بگو:”ای پادشاه، مگر قسم نخوردی که پسر من سلیمان بعد از تو پادشاه بشود؟ پس چرا حالا ادونیا پادشاه شده است؟“ | 13 |
Go to King David; say to him, 'My master the king, did you not swear to your servant, saying, “Surely Solomon your son will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne?” Why then is Adonijah reigning?'
| همان وقت که تو مشغول صحبت کردن با داوود هستی، من هم می‌آیم و حرف تو را تأیید می‌کنم.» | 14 |
While you are there speaking with the king, I will come in after you and confirm your words.”
| پس بَتشِبَع به اتاق پادشاه رفت. داوود پادشاه خیلی پیر شده بود و ابیشگ از او پرستاری می‌کرد. | 15 |
So Bathsheba went into the king's room. The king was very old, and Abishag the Shunammite was serving the king.
| بَتشِبَع جلو رفت و تعظیم کرد. پادشاه پرسید: «چه می‌خواهی؟» | 16 |
Bathsheba bowed and prostrated herself before the king. Then the king said, “What do you desire?”
| بَتشِبَع جواب داد: «ای پادشاه، برای این کنیزتان به خداوند، خدای خود قسم خوردید که بعد از شما پسرم سلیمان بر تختتان بنشیند؛ | 17 |
She said to him, “My master, you swore to your servant by Yahweh your God, saying, 'Surely Solomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.'
| ولی حالا ادونیا به جای او پادشاه شده است و شما از این موضوع بی‌خبرید. | 18 |
Now, see, Adonijah is king, and you, my master the king, do not know it.
| ادونیا جشن بزرگی گرفته و گاوان و گوسفندان زیادی قربانی کرده و تمام پسرانتان را با اَبیّاتار کاهن و یوآب فرماندهٔ سپاهتان به این جشن دعوت کرده اما خدمتگزارت سلیمان را دعوت نکرده است. | 19 |
He has sacrificed oxen, fatted calves, and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the sons of the king, Abiathar the priest, and Joab the captain of the army, but he has not invited Solomon your servant.
| حال ای پادشاه، تمام قوم اسرائیل منتظرند تا ببینند شما چه کسی را به جانشینی خود انتخاب می‌کنید. | 20 |
As for you, my master the king, the eyes of all Israel are on you, waiting for you to tell them who will sit on the throne after you, my master.
| اگر زودتر تصمیم نگیرید، هنگامی که سرورم پادشاه نزد پدران خود بیارامد، با من و پسرم سلیمان مثل یک خطاکار رفتار خواهند کرد.» | 21 |
Otherwise it will happen, when my master the king sleeps with his fathers, that I and my son Solomon will be regarded as criminals.”
| وقتی بَتشِبَع مشغول صحبت بود، به پادشاه خبر دادند که ناتان نبی می‌خواهد به حضور پادشاه شرفیاب شود. ناتان داخل شد و به پادشاه تعظیم کرد | 22 |
While she was still speaking with the king, Nathan the prophet came in.
| 23 |
The servants told the king, “Nathan the prophet is here.” When he came in before the king, he prostrated himself before the king with his face to the ground.
| و گفت: «ای سرور من، آیا شما ادونیا را جانشین خود کرده‌اید تا بر تخت سلطنت بنشیند؟ | 24 |
Nathan said, “My master the king, have you said, 'Adonijah will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne?'
| زیرا امروز ادونیا جشن بزرگی بر پا کرده و گاوان و گوسفندان بسیاری قربانی کرده و پسرانتان را با اَبیّاتار کاهن و فرماندهان سپاهتان به این جشن دعوت کرده است. هم اکنون ایشان می‌خورند و می‌نوشند و خوش می‌گذرانند و فریاد می‌زنند: زنده باد ادونیای پادشاه! | 25 |
For he has gone down today and sacrificed oxen, fatted calves, and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, the captains of the army, and Abiathar the priest. They are eating and drinking before him, and saying, 'Long live King Adonijah!'
| اما من و صادوق کاهن و بنایا و خدمتگزارت سلیمان به آن جشن دعوت نشده‌ایم! | 26 |
But as for me, your servant, Zadok the priest, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and your servant Solomon, he has not invited us.
| آیا این کار با اطلاع پادشاه انجام گرفته است؟ پس چرا پادشاه به ما نگفته‌اند که چه کسی را به جانشینی خود برگزیده‌اند؟» | 27 |
Has my master the king done this without telling us, your servants, who should sit on the throne after him?”
| با شنیدن این حرفها، پادشاه دستور داد بَتشِبَع را احضار کنند. پس بَتشِبَع به اتاق برگشت و در حضور پادشاه ایستاد. | 28 |
Then King David answered and said, “Call Bathsheba back to me.” She came into the king's presence and stood before the king.
| آنگاه پادشاه چنین گفت: «به خداوند زنده که مرا از تمام خطرات نجات داده، قسم می‌خورم که | 29 |
The king made an oath and said, “As Yahweh lives, who has redeemed me out of all trouble,
| همان‌طور که قبلاً در حضور خداوند، خدای اسرائیل برایت قسم خوردم، امروز کاری می‌کنم که پسرت سلیمان بعد از من پادشاه شود و بر تخت سلطنت من بنشیند!» | 30 |
as I vowed to you by Yahweh, the God of Israel, saying, 'Solomon your son will reign after me, and he will sit on my throne in my place,' I will do this today.”
| آنگاه بَتشِبَع در حضور پادشاه تعظیم کرد و گفت: «پادشاه همیشه زنده بماند!» | 31 |
Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the ground and prostrated herself before the king and said, “May my master King David live forever!”
| سپس پادشاه گفت: «صادوق کاهن و ناتان نبی و بنایا پسر یهویاداع را پیش من بیاورید.» وقتی آنها به حضور پادشاه شرفیاب شدند، | 32 |
King David said, “Call to me Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, and Benaiah son of Jehoiada.” So they came before the king.
| پادشاه به ایشان گفت: «همراه درباریان من، سلیمان را به جیحون ببرید. او را بر قاطر مخصوص من سوار کنید | 33 |
The king said to them, “Take with you the servants of your master, and have Solomon my son ride on my own mule and take him down to Gihon.
| و صادوق کاهن و ناتان نبی وی را در آن شهر به عنوان پادشاه اسرائیل تدهین کنند. بعد شیپورها را به صدا درآورید و با صدای بلند بگویید: زنده باد سلیمان پادشاه! | 34 |
Let Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet anoint him king over Israel and blow the trumpet and say, 'Long live King Solomon!'
| سپس سلیمان را همراه خود به اینجا برگردانید و او را به نام پادشاه جدید بر تخت سلطنت من بنشانید، چون من وی را رهبر قوم اسرائیل و یهودا تعیین کرده‌ام.» | 35 |
Then you will come up after him, and he will come and sit on my throne; for he will be king in my place. I have appointed him to be ruler over Israel and Judah.”
| بنایا پسر یهویاداع جواب داد: «آمین! باشد که خداوند، خدایت برای این کار به ما توفیق دهد. | 36 |
Benaiah son of Jehoiada answered the king, and said, “So let it be! May Yahweh, the God of my master the king, confirm it.
| همان‌طور که خداوند با تو بوده است، با سلیمان پادشاه هم باشد و سلطنت او را از سلطنت تو شکوهمندتر کند.» | 37 |
As Yahweh has been with my master the king, so may he be with Solomon, and make his throne greater than the throne of my master King David.”
| پس صادوق کاهن، ناتان نبی و بنایا با محافظان دربار، سلیمان را بر قاطر داوود پادشاه سوار کردند و به جیحون بردند. | 38 |
So Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Kerethites and the Pelethites went down and had Solomon ride upon King David's mule; they brought him to Gihon.
| در آنجا صادوق کاهن، ظرف روغن مقدّس را که از خیمهٔ عبادت آورده بود، گرفته و روغن آن را بر سر سلیمان ریخته، او را تدهین نمود. بعد شیپورها را نواختند و تمام مردم فریاد برآوردند: «زنده باد سلیمان پادشاه!» | 39 |
Zadok the priest took the horn of oil out of the tent and anointed Solomon. Then they blew the trumpet, and all the people said, “Long live King Solomon!”
| سپس همه با هم شادی‌کنان به اورشلیم برگشتند. صدای ساز و آواز آنها چنان بلند بود که زمین زیر پایشان می‌لرزید! | 40 |
Then all the people went up after him, and the people played the flutes and rejoiced with great joy, so that the earth shook with their sound.
| ادونیا و مهمانانش به آخر جشن نزدیک می‌شدند که این سر و صدا به گوششان رسید. وقتی یوآب صدای شیپورها را شنید پرسید: «چه خبر است؟ این چه غوغایی است که در شهر بر پا شده؟» | 41 |
Adonijah and all the guests who were with him heard it as they finished eating. When Joab heard the sound of the trumpet, he said, “Why is there an uproar in the city?”
| حرف او هنوز تمام نشده بود که یوناتان پسر اَبیّاتار کاهن از راه رسید. ادونیا به او گفت: «داخل شو! تو جوان خوبی هستی و بی‌شک خبری خوش برایم آورده‌ای!» | 42 |
While he was still speaking, Jonathan son of Abiathar the priest came. Adonijah said, “Come in, for you are a worthy man and bring good news.”
| یوناتان گفت: «خیر! سرورمان داوود پادشاه، سلیمان را جانشین خود کرده است! | 43 |
Jonathan answered and said to Adonijah, “Our master King David has made Solomon the king,
| او سلیمان را بر قاطر مخصوص خود سوار کرده، همراه صادوق کاهن، ناتان نبی، بنایا و محافظان پادشاه به جیحون فرستاده است. صادوق و ناتان، سلیمان را به عنوان پادشاه جدید تدهین کرده‌اند! اینک آنها برگشته‌اند و از این جهت تمام شهر جشن گرفته‌اند و شادی می‌کنند. این هلهلهٔ شادی از خوشحالی مردم است! | 44 |
and the king has sent with him Zadok the priest, Nathan the prophet, Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and the Kerethites and the Pelethites. They have had Solomon ride on the king's mule.
| 45 |
Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet have anointed him king at Gihon, and have come up from there rejoicing, so that the city is in an uproar. This is the noise that you have heard.
| سلیمان بر تخت سلطنت نشسته است | 46 |
Also, Solomon is sitting on the throne of the kingdom.
| و درباریان برای عرض تبریک نزد داوود پادشاه می‌روند و می‌گویند: خدای تو سلیمان را مشهورتر از تو بگرداند و سلطنت او را بزرگتر و باشکوهتر از سلطنت تو بسازد؛ و داوود پادشاه نیز در بستر خود سجده کرده | 47 |
Moreover, the king's servants came to bless our master King David, saying, 'May your God make the name of Solomon better than your name, and make his throne greater than your throne.' Then the king bowed down on the bed.
| به دعاهای خیر ایشان اینطور جواب می‌دهد: سپاس بر خداوند، خدای اسرائیل که به من طول عمر داده است تا با چشمان خود ببینم که خدا پسرم را برگزیده است تا بر تخت سلطنت من بنشیند و به جای من پادشاه شود!» | 48 |
The king also said, 'Blessed be Yahweh, the God of Israel, who has given a person to sit on my throne this day, and that my own eyes should see it.'”
| میهمانان ادونیا وقتی این خبر را شنیدند، ترسیدند و پا به فرار گذاشتند. | 49 |
Then all the guests of Adonijah were terrified. They stood up and each man went his way.
| ادونیا از ترس سلیمان به خیمهٔ عبادت پناه برد و شاخهای مذبح را به دست گرفت. | 50 |
Adonijah was afraid of Solomon and rose up, went, and took hold of the horns of the altar.
| به سلیمان خبر دادند که ادونیا از ترس او به عبادتگاه پناه برده و شاخهای مذبح را به دست گرفته است و می‌گوید: «سلیمان برای من قسم بخورد که مرا نخواهد کشت.» | 51 |
Then it was told Solomon, saying, “See, Adonijah is afraid of King Solomon, for he has laid hold on the horns of the altar, saying, 'Let King Solomon swear to me first that he will not kill his servant with the sword.'”
| سلیمان گفت: «اگر ادونیا رفتار خود را عوض کند، مویی از سرش کم نخواهد شد. در غیر این صورت سزای او مرگ است.» | 52 |
Solomon said, “If he will show himself a worthy man, not a hair of his will fall to the earth, but if wickedness is found in him, he will die.”
| سپس سلیمان افرادی را فرستاد تا ادونیا را از عبادتگاه بیرون بیاورند. ادونیا آمد و در حضور سلیمان پادشاه تعظیم کرد. سلیمان به او گفت: «می‌توانی به خانه‌ات برگردی.» | 53 |
So King Solomon sent men, who brought Adonijah down from the altar. He came and bowed down to King Solomon, and Solomon said to him, “Go to your house.”
