| اینها از اعقاب یهودا هستند: فارص، حصرون، کرمی، حور و شوبال. | 1 |
And the sons of Juda; Phares, Esrom, and Charmi, and Or, Subal,
| رایا پسر شوبال، پدر یحت، و یحت پدر اخومای و لاهد بود. ایشان به طایفه‌های صرعاتی معروف بودند. | 2 |
and Rada his son; and Subal begot Jeth; and Jeth begot Achimai, and Laad: these [are] the generations of the Arathites.
| حور پسر ارشد افرات بود و فرزندانش شهر بیت‌لحم را بنا نهادند. حور سه پسر داشت: عیطام، فنوئیل و عازر. عیطام نیز سه پسر داشت: یزرعیل، یشما و یدباش. دختر او هصللفونی نام داشت. فنوئیل شهر جدور را بنا کرد و عازر شهر حوشه را. | 3 |
And these [are] the sons of Aetam; Jezrael and Jesman, and Jebdas: and their sister's name [was] Eselebbon.

And Phanuel the father of Gedor, and Jazer the father of Osan: these [are] the sons of Or, the firstborn of Ephratha, the father of Baethalaen.
| اشحور، بانی شهر تقوع، دو زن داشت به نامهای حلا و نعره. | 5 |
And Asur the father of Thecoe had two wives, Aoda and Thoada.
| نعره این پسران را به دنیا آورد: اخزام، حافر، تیمانی و اخشطاری. | 6 |
And Aoda bore to him Ochaia, and Ephal, and Thaeman, and Aasther: all these [were] the sons of Aoda.
| حلا نیز صاحب این پسران شد: صرت، صوحر و اتنان. | 7 |
And the sons of Thoada; Sereth, and Saar, and Esthanam.
| قوس پدر عانوب و صوبیبه بود و جد طایفه‌هایی که از اخرحیل پسر هاروم به وجود آمدند. | 8 |
And Coe begot Enob, and Sabatha, and the progeny of the brother of Rechab, the son of Jarin.
| مردی بود به نام یعبیص که در بین خاندان خود بیش از همه مورد احترام بود. مادرش به این علّت نام او را یعبیص گذاشت چون با درد شدید او را زاییده بود. (یعبیص به معنی «درد» است.) | 9 |
And Igabes was more famous than his brethren; and his mother called his name Igabes, saying, I have born as a sorrowful one.
| اما یعبیص نزد خدای اسرائیل اینطور دعا کرد: «ای خدا مرا برکت ده و سرزمین مرا وسیع گردان. با من باش و مرا از مصیبتها دور نگه دار تا رنج نکشم.» و خدا دعای او را اجابت فرمود. | 10 |
And Igabes called on the God of Israel, saying, O that you would indeed bless me, and enlarge my coasts, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would make me know that you will not grieve me! And God granted him all that he asked.
| کالیب، برادر شوحه، پسری داشت به نام محیر. محیر پدر اشتون بود. | 11 |
And Chaleb the father of Ascha begot Machir; he [was] the father of Assathon.
| اشتون پدر بیت رافا، فاسیح و تحنه بود. تحنه بانی شهر ناحاش بود. همهٔ اینها اهل ریقه بودند. | 12 |
He begot Bathraias, and Bessee, and Thaeman the founder of the city of Naas the brother of Eselom the Kenezite: these [were] the men of Rechab.
| و پسران قناز عتنی‌ئیل و سرایا بودند. حتات و معوتونای پسران عتنی‌ئیل بودند. | 13 |
And the sons of Kenez; Gothoniel, and Saraia: and the sons of Gothoniel; Athath.
| عفره پسر معونوتای بود. یوآب، پسر سرایا، بنیانگذار «درهٔ صنعتگران» بود. (این دره بدان جهت درهٔ صنعتگران نامیده شد چون بسیاری از صنعتگران در آنجا زندگی می‌کردند.) | 14 |
And Manathi begot Gophera: and Saraia begot Jobab, the father of Ageaddair, for they were artificers.
| پسران کالیب (پسر یفنه) عبارت بودند از: عیرو، ایله، ناعم. ایله پدر قناز بود. | 15 |
And the sons of Chaleb the son of Jephonne; Er, Ada, and Noom: and the sons of Ada, Kenez.
| پسران یهلل‌ئیل اینها بودند: زیف، زیفه، تیریا و اسرئیل. | 16 |
And the sons of Aleel, Zib, and Zepha, and Thiria, and Eserel.
| پسران عزره اینها بودند: یتر، مرد، عافر و یالون. مرد با دختر پادشاه مصر به نام بتیه ازدواج کرد و صاحب یک دختر به نام مریم و دو پسر به نامهای شمای و یشبح (جد اشتموع) شد. مرد از زن یهودی خود نیز صاحب سه پسر شد به نامهای: یارد، جابر و یقوتی‌ئیل. اینها به ترتیب بانی شهرهای جدور، سوکو و زانوح بودند. | 17 |
And the sons of Esri; Jether, Morad, and Apher, and Jamon: and Jether begot Maron, and Semei, and Jesba the father of Esthaemon.
| 18 |
And his wife, that [is] Adia, bore Jared the father of Gedor, and Aber the father of Sochon, and Chetiel the father of Zamon: and these [are] the sons of Betthia the daughter of Pharao, whom Mored took.
| زن هودیا خواهر نحم بود. یکی از پسرانش جد طایفهٔ قعیلهٔ جرمی و دیگری جد طایفهٔ اشتموع معکاتی شد. | 19 |
And the sons of the wife of Iduia the sister of Nachaim the father of Keila; Garmi, and Esthaemon the Nochathite.
| پسران شیمون: امنون، رنه، بنحانان و تیلون. پسران یشعی: زوحیت و بنزوحیت. | 20 |
And the sons of Semon; Amnon, and Ana the son of Phana, and Inon: and the sons of Sei, Zoan, and the sons of Zoab.
| پسران شیله (پسر یهودا): عیر، بانی شهر لیکه؛ لعده، بانی شهر مریشه؛ طایفه‌های پارچه‌باف که در بیت اشبیع کار می‌کردند؛ یوقیم؛ خاندان کوزیبا؛ یوآش؛ ساراف که در موآب و یشوبی لحم حکومت می‌کرد. (تمام اینها از گزارشهای کهن به جای مانده است.) | 21 |
The sons of Selom the son of Juda; Er the father of Lechab, and Laada the father of Marisa, and the offspring of the family of Ephrathabac [belonging to] the house of Esoba.

And Joakim, and the men of Chozeba, and Joas, and Saraph, who lived in Moab, and he changed their names to Abederin and Athukiim.
| اینها کوزه‌گرانی بودند که در نتاعیم و جدیره سکونت داشتند و برای پادشاه کار می‌کردند. | 23 |
These [are] the potters who lived in Ataim and Gadira with the king: they grew strong in his kingdom, and lived there.
| پسران شمعون: نموئیل، یامین، یاریب، زارح و شائول. | 24 |
The sons of Semeon; Namuel, and Jamin, Jarib, Zares, Saul:
| شائول پدر شلوم، پدر بزرگ مبسام و جد مشماع بود. | 25 |
Salem his son, Mabasam his son, Masma his son:
| حموئیل (پدر زکور و پدر بزرگ شمعی) هم از پسران مشماع بود. | 26 |
Amuel his son, Sabud his son, Zacchur his son, Semei his son.
| شمعی شانزده پسر و شش دختر داشت، ولی هیچ‌کدام از برادرانش فرزندان زیادی نداشتند، بنابراین طایفهٔ شمعون به اندازهٔ طایفهٔ یهودا بزرگ نشد. | 27 |
Semei [had] sixteen sons, and six daughters; and his brethren had not many sons, neither did all their families multiply as the sons of Juda.
| نسل شمعون تا زمان داوود پادشاه در شهرهای زیر زندگی می‌کردند: بئرشبع، مولاده، حصر شوال، بلهه، عاصم، تولاد، بتوئیل، حرمه، صقلغ، بیت‌مرکبوت، حصرسوسیم، بیت‌برئی، شعرایم، | 28 |
And they lived in Bersabee, and Molada, and in Esersual,
| 29 |
and in Balaa, and in Aesem, and in Tholad,
| 30 |
and in Bathuel, and in Herma, and in Sikelag,
| 31 |
and in Baethmarimoth, and Hemisuseosin, and the house of Baruseorim: these [were] their cities until [the time of] king David.
| عیطام، عین، رمون، توکن، عاشان | 32 |
And their villages [were] Aetan, and En, Remnon, and Thocca, and Aesar, five cities.
| و دهکده‌های اطراف آن تا حدود شهر بعلت. | 33 |
And all their villages [were] round about these cities, as far as Baal: this [was] their possession, and their distribution.
| اسامی رؤسای طایفه‌های شمعون عبارت بودند از: مشوباب، یملیک، یوشه (پسر اَمَصیا)، یوئیل، ییهو (پسر یوشبیا، نوهٔ سرایا و نبیرهٔ عسی‌ئیل)، الیوعینای، یعکوبه، یشوحایا، عسایا، عدی‌ئیل، یسیمی‌ئیل، بنایا و زیزا (پسر شفعی، شفعی پسر الون، الون پسر یدایا، یدایا پسر شمری و شمری پسر شمعیا). این طایفه‌ها به تدریج بزرگ شدند و در جستجوی چراگاههای بزرگتر برای گله‌های خود به سمت شرقی درهٔ جدور رفتند. | 34 |
And Mosobab, and Jemoloch, and Josia the son of Amasia;
| 35 |
and Joel, and Jeu the son of Asabia, the son of Sarau, the son of Asiel;
| 36 |
and Elionai, and Jocaba, and Jasuia, and Asaia, and Jediel, and Ismael, and Banaias;
| 37 |
and Zuza the son of Saphai, the son of Alon, the son of Jedia, the son of Semri, the son of Samaias.
| 38 |
These went by the names of princes in their families, and they increased abundantly in their fathers' households.
| 39 |
And they went till they came to Gerara, to the east of Gai, to seek pasture for their cattle.
| در آنجا آنها سرزمینی وسیع و آرام و ایمن با چراگاههای حاصلخیز پیدا کردند. این سرزمین قبلاً به نسل حام تعلق داشت. | 40 |
And they found abundant and good pastures, and the land before them [was] wide, and [there was] peace and quietness; for [there were] some of the children of Cham who lived there before.
| در دورهٔ سلطنت حِزِقیا، پادشاه یهودا، رؤسای طایفه‌های شمعون به سرزمین نسل حام هجوم بردند و خیمه‌ها و خانه‌های آنها را خراب کردند، ساکنان آنجا را کشتند و زمین را به تصرف خود درآوردند، زیرا در آنجا چراگاههای زیادی وجود داشت. | 41 |
And these who are written by name came in the days of Ezekias king of Juda, and they struck the people's houses, and the Minaeans whom they found there, and utterly destroyed them until this day: and they lived in their place, because [there was] pasture there for their cattle.
| سپس پانصد نفر از این افراد مهاجم که از قبیلهٔ شمعون بودند به کوه سعیر رفتند. (رهبران آنها فلطیا، نعریا، رفایا و عزی‌ئیل و همه پسران یشیع بودند.) | 42 |
And some of them, [even] of the sons of Symeon, went to mount Seir, [even] five hundred men; and Phalaettia, and Noadia, and Raphaia, and Oziel, sons of Jesi, [were] their rulers.
| در آنجا بازماندگان قبیلهٔ عمالیق را از بین بردند و از آن به بعد خودشان در آنجا ساکن شدند. | 43 |
And they struck the remnant that were left of Amalec, until this day.
