1 سال بعد در فصل بهار، فصلی که پادشاهان معمولاً درگیر جنگ هستند یوآب سپاه اسرائیل را بسیج کرد و به شهرهای عمونی‌ها حمله برد، اما داوود پادشاه در اورشلیم ماند. یوآب شهر ربه را محاصره نموده، آن را گرفت و ویران کرد.

And when the yere was expired, in the time that Kings goe out a warfare, Ioab caryed out the strength of the armie, and destroyed the countrey of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah (but Dauid taryed at Ierusalem) and Ioab smote Rabbah and destroyed it.

2 وقتی داوود به میدان جنگ آمد، تاج گرانبهای پادشاه عمونی را از سر او برداشت و بر سر خود گذاشت. این تاج حدود سی و پنج کیلو وزن داشت و از طلا و جواهرات قیمتی ساخته شده بود. داوود غنیمت زیادی از شهر ربه گرفت و با خود برد.

Then Dauid tooke the crowne of their King from off his head, and founde it the weight of a talent of golde, with precious stones in it: and it was set on Dauids head, and he brought away the spoyle of the citie exceeding much.

3 داوود، مردم آن شهر را اسیر کرده، اره و تیشه و تبر به دستشان داد و آنها را به کارهای سخت گماشت. او با اهالی شهرهای دیگر عمون نیز همین‌طور عمل کرد. سپس داوود و لشکر او به اورشلیم بازگشتند.

And he caryed away the people that were in it, and cut them with sawes, and with harowes of yron, and with axes: euen thus did Dauid with all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then Dauid and all the people came againe to Ierusalem.

4 پس از مدتی باز جنگی با فلسطینی‌ها در جازر درگرفت. سبکای حوشاتی، سفای را که یک غول فلسطینی بود، کشت و فلسطینی‌ها تسلیم شدند.

And after this also there arose warre at Gezer with the Philistims: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slewe Sippai, of the children of Haraphah, and they were subdued.

5 در طی جنگ دیگری با فلسطینی‌ها، الحانان (پسر یاعیر)، لحمی را که برادر جلیات جتی بود و نیزه‌ای به کلفتی چوب نساجها داشت، کشت.

And there was yet another battell with the Philistims: and Elhanan the sonne of Iair slewe Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spearestaffe was like a weauers beame.

6 یک بار هم وقتی فلسطینی‌ها در جت با اسرائیلی‌ها می‌جنگیدند، یک غول فلسطینی که در هر دست و پایش شش انگشت داشت، نیروهای اسرائیلی را به ستوه آورد. آنگاه یوناتان، برادرزادهٔ داوود که پسر شمعا بود، او را کشت.

And yet againe there was a battel at Gath, where was a man of a great stature, and his fingers were by sixes, euen foure and twentie, and was also the sonne of Haraphah.

And when he reuiled Israel, Iehonathan the sonne of Shimea Dauids brother did slay him.

8 این سه مرد که به دست داوود و سربازان او کشته شدند، از نسل غول‌پیکران جت بودند.

These were borne vnto Haraphah at Gath, and fell by the hand of Dauid: and by the hands of his seruants.
