اول تواریخ 14

1 حیرام، پادشاه صور قاصدانی نزد داوود فرستاد. همراه این قاصدان نجاران و بنایانی با چوب درختان سرو نیز فرستاد تا برای داوود کاخی بسازند.

Then sent Hiram the King of Tyrus messengers to Dauid, and cedar trees, with masons and carpenters to builde him an house.

2 پس داوود فهمید که خداوند به خاطر قوم خود اسرائیل، او را پادشاه ساخته است و به سلطنتش اینچنین عظمتی بخشیده است.

Therefore Dauid knewe that the Lord had confirmed him King ouer Israel, and that his kingdome was lift vp on hie, because of his people Israel.

3 داوود پس از آنکه به اورشلیم نقل مکان نمود، زنان بیشتری گرفت و صاحب دختران و پسران دیگری شد.

Also Dauid tooke moe wiues at Ierusalem, and Dauid begate moe sonnes and daughters.

4 فرزندان او که در اورشلیم به دنیا آمدند اینها هستند: شموع، شوباب، ناتان، سلیمان، یبحار، الیشوع، الیفلط، نوجه، نافج، یافیع، الیشامع، بعلیاداع، الیفلط.

And these are the names of the children which he had at Ierusalem, Shammua, and Shobab, Nathan, and Salomon,

And Ibhar, and Elishua, and Elpalet,

And Nogah, and Nepheg, and Iaphia,

7

And Elishama, and Beeliada, and Eliphalet.

8 وقتی فلسطینی‌ها شنیدند داوود، پادشاه اسرائیل شده است، نیروهای خود را برای جنگ با او بسیج نمودند. وقتی داوود این را شنید سپاه خود را برای مقابله با دشمن جمع کرد.

But when the Philistims heard that Dauid was anointed King ouer Israel, all the Philistims came vp to seeke Dauid. And when Dauid heard, he went out against them.

9 فلسطینی‌ها به درهٔ رفائیم آمده، در آنجا پخش شدند.

And the Philistims came, and spred them selues in the valley of Rephaim.

10 داوود از خدا سؤال کرد: «اگر به جنگ فلسطینی‌ها بروم آیا مرا پیروز خواهی ساخت؟» خداوند جواب داد: «بله، تو را بر دشمن پیروز خواهم ساخت.»

Then Dauid asked counsel at God, saying, Shall I goe vp against the Philistims, and wilt thou deliuer them into mine hande? And the Lord saide vnto him, Goe vp: for I will deliuer them into thine hande.

11 پس داوود در بعل فراصیم به فلسطینی‌ها حمله کرد و آنها را شکست داد. داوود گفت: «خدا به دست من دشمنان ما را شکست داد! او چون سیلاب بر آنها رخنه کرد.» به همین سبب آن محل را بعل فراصیم (یعنی «خدای رخنه‌کننده») نامیدند.

So they came vp to Baal-perazim, and Dauid smote them there: and Dauid said, God hath deuided mine enemies with mine hande, as waters are deuided: therefore they called the name of that place, Baal-perazim.

12 فلسطینی‌ها تعداد زیادی بت برجای گذاشتند و داوود دستور داد آنها را بسوزانند.

And there they had left their gods: and Dauid said, Let them euen be burnt with fire.

13 فلسطینی‌ها بار دیگر بازگشتند و در درهٔ رفائیم پخش شدند.

Againe the Philistims came and spread them selues in the valley.

14 داوود باز از خدا سؤال کرد که چه کند و خدا در جواب او فرمود: «از روبرو به آنها حمله نکن بلکه دور بزن و از میان درختان توت به ایشان حمله کن!

And when Dauid asked againe counsell at God, God said to him, Thou shalt not goe vp after them, but turne away from them, that thou mayest come vpon them ouer against the mulberie trees.

15 وقتی صدای پایی بر سر درختان توت شنیدی آنگاه حمله را شروع کن، زیرا این علامت آن است که من پیشاپیش شما حرکت می‌کنم و لشکر فلسطینی‌ها را شکست می‌دهم.»

And when thou hearest the noyse of one going in the toppes of the mulberie trees, then goe out to battel: for God is gone foorth before thee, to smite the hoste of the Philistims.

16 پس داوود مطابق دستور خدا عمل کرده، سپاه فلسطینی‌ها را از جبعون تا جازر سرکوب نمود.

So Dauid did as God had commanded him: and they smote the hoste of the Philistims from Gibeon euen to Gezer.

17 به این ترتیب شهرت داوود در همه جا پخش شد و خداوند ترس او را در دل تمام قومها جای داد.

And the fame of Dauid went out into all landes, and the Lord brought the feare of him vpon all nations.
