اول تواریخ 14
| حیرام، پادشاه صور قاصدانی نزد داوود فرستاد. همراه این قاصدان نجاران و بنایانی با چوب درختان سرو نیز فرستاد تا برای داوود کاخی بسازند. | 1 |
And Chiram king of Tyre sent messengers to David, and cedar timbers, and masons, and carpenters, to build a house for him.
| پس داوود فهمید که خداوند به خاطر قوم خود اسرائیل، او را پادشاه ساخته است و به سلطنتش اینچنین عظمتی بخشیده است. | 2 |
And David knew that the Lord [had] designed him to be king over Israel; because his kingdom was highly exalted, on account of his people Israel.
| داوود پس از آنکه به اورشلیم نقل مکان نمود، زنان بیشتری گرفت و صاحب دختران و پسران دیگری شد. | 3 |
And David took more wives in Jerusalem: and there were born to David more sons and daughters.
| فرزندان او که در اورشلیم به دنیا آمدند اینها هستند: شموع، شوباب، ناتان، سلیمان، یبحار، الیشوع، الیفلط، نوجه، نافج، یافیع، الیشامع، بعلیاداع، الیفلط. | 4 |
And these [are] the names of those that were born, who were [born] to him in Jerusalem; Samaa, Sobab, Nathan, and Solomon,
| 5 |
and Baar, and Elisa, and Eliphaleth,
| 6 |
and Nageth, and Naphath, and Japhie,
| 7 |
and Elisamae, and Eliade, and Eliphala.
| وقتی فلسطینی‌ها شنیدند داوود، پادشاه اسرائیل شده است، نیروهای خود را برای جنگ با او بسیج نمودند. وقتی داوود این را شنید سپاه خود را برای مقابله با دشمن جمع کرد. | 8 |
And the Philistines heard that David was anointed king over all Israel: and all the Philistines went up to seek David; and David heard [it], and went out to meet them.
| فلسطینی‌ها به درهٔ رفائیم آمده، در آنجا پخش شدند. | 9 |
And the Philistines came and assembled together in the giants' valley.
| داوود از خدا سؤال کرد: «اگر به جنگ فلسطینی‌ها بروم آیا مرا پیروز خواهی ساخت؟» خداوند جواب داد: «بله، تو را بر دشمن پیروز خواهم ساخت.» | 10 |
And David enquired of God, saying, Shall I go up against the Philistines? and will you deliver them into my hand? And the Lord said to him, Go up, and I will deliver them into your hands.
| پس داوود در بعل فراصیم به فلسطینی‌ها حمله کرد و آنها را شکست داد. داوود گفت: «خدا به دست من دشمنان ما را شکست داد! او چون سیلاب بر آنها رخنه کرد.» به همین سبب آن محل را بعل فراصیم (یعنی «خدای رخنه‌کننده») نامیدند. | 11 |
And he went up to Baal Pharasin, and David struck them there; and David said, God has broken through enemies by my hand like a breach of water: therefore he called the name of that place, the Breach of Pharasin.
| فلسطینی‌ها تعداد زیادی بت برجای گذاشتند و داوود دستور داد آنها را بسوزانند. | 12 |
And the Philistines left their gods there; and David gave orders to burn them with fire.
| فلسطینی‌ها بار دیگر بازگشتند و در درهٔ رفائیم پخش شدند. | 13 |
And the Philistines once more assembled themselves in the giants' valley.
| داوود باز از خدا سؤال کرد که چه کند و خدا در جواب او فرمود: «از روبرو به آنها حمله نکن بلکه دور بزن و از میان درختان توت به ایشان حمله کن! | 14 |
And David enquired of God again; and God said to him, You shall not go after them; turn away from them, and you shall come upon them near the pear trees.
| وقتی صدای پایی بر سر درختان توت شنیدی آنگاه حمله را شروع کن، زیرا این علامت آن است که من پیشاپیش شما حرکت می‌کنم و لشکر فلسطینی‌ها را شکست می‌دهم.» | 15 |
And it shall be, when you shall hear the sound of their tumult in the tops of the pear trees, then you shall go into the battle: for God has gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines.
| پس داوود مطابق دستور خدا عمل کرده، سپاه فلسطینی‌ها را از جبعون تا جازر سرکوب نمود. | 16 |
And he did as God commanded him: and he struck the army of the Philistines from Gabaon to Gazera.
| به این ترتیب شهرت داوود در همه جا پخش شد و خداوند ترس او را در دل تمام قومها جای داد. | 17 |
And the name of David was [famous] in all the land; and the Lord put the terror of him on all the nations.
