اول تواریخ 10
| فلسطینی‌ها با اسرائیلی‌ها وارد جنگ شدند و آنها را شکست دادند. اسرائیلی‌ها فرار کردند و در دامنهٔ کوه جلبوع تلفات زیادی به جای گذاشتند. | 1 |
Now, the Philistines, fought against Israel, —and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and the wounded fell in Mount Gilboa.
| فلسطینی‌ها شائول و سه پسر او یوناتان، ابیناداب و ملکیشوع را محاصره کردند و هر سه را کشتند. | 2 |
And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons, —and the Philistines smote Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, sons of Saul.
| عرصه بر شائول تنگ شد و تیراندازان فلسطینی دورش را گرفتند و او را مجروح کردند. | 3 |
And the battle, went sore, against Saul, and the archers discovered him with the bow, —and he was terrified because of the archers.
| شائول به محافظ خود گفت: «پیش از اینکه به دست این کافرها بیفتم و رسوا شوم، تو با شمشیر خودت مرا بکش!» ولی آن مرد ترسید این کار را بکند. پس شائول شمشیر خودش را گرفته، خود را بر آن انداخت و مرد. | 4 |
Therefore said Saul unto his armour-bearer, Draw out thy sword and thrust me through therewith, lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armour-bearer would not, for he feared greatly, —so then Saul took the sword, and fell upon it.
| محافظ شائول چون او را مرده دید، او نیز خود را روی شمشیرش انداخت و مرد. | 5 |
And, when his armour-bearer saw that Saul was dead, then, he also, fell upon the sword, and died.
| شائول و سه پسر او با هم مردند و به این ترتیب خاندان سلطنتی شائول برافتاد. | 6 |
So Saul died, and his three sons, and, all his house, together, died.
| وقتی اسرائیلی‌های ساکن درهٔ یزرعیل شنیدند که سپاه اسرائیل شکست خورده و شائول و پسرانش کشته شده‌اند، شهرهای خود را ترک کردند و گریختند. آنگاه فلسطینی‌ها آمدند و در آن شهرها ساکن شدند. | 7 |
And, when all the men of Israel that were in the vale saw, that they had fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then forsook they their cities, and fled, and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
| روز بعد که فلسطینی‌ها برای غارت کشته‌شدگان رفتند، جنازهٔ شائول و پسرانش را در کوه جلبوع پیدا کردند. | 8 |
And it came to pass, on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, —that they found Saul, and his sons, lying prostrate in Mount Gilboa.
| آنها اسلحهٔ شائول را گرفتند و سر او را از تن جدا کرده، با خود بردند. سپس اسلحه و سر شائول را به سراسر فلسطین فرستادند تا خبر کشته شدن شائول را به بتها و مردم فلسطین برسانند. | 9 |
So they stript him, and took his head, and his armour, —and sent throughout the land of the Philistines round about, to publish it to their idols, and to the people.
| آنها اسلحهٔ شائول را در معبد خدایان خود گذاشتند و سرش را به دیوار معبد بت داجون آویختند. | 10 |
And they put his armour, in the house of their gods, —but, his skull, fastened they up, in the house of Dagon.
| وقتی ساکنان یابیش جلعاد شنیدند که فلسطینی‌ها چه بلایی بر سر شائول آورده‌اند، | 11 |
And, when all Jabesh-Gilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
| مردان دلاور خود را فرستادند و ایشان جنازهٔ شائول و سه پسر او را به یابیش جلعاد آوردند و آنها را زیر درخت بلوط به خاک سپردند و یک هفته برای ایشان روزه گرفتند. | 12 |
then rose up all the men of valour, and took away the corpse of Saul, and the corpses of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, —and buried their bodies under the terebinth, in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
| مرگ شائول به سبب نافرمانی از خداوند و مشورت با احضارکنندهٔ ارواح بود. | 13 |
Thus died Saul, for his unfaithfulness wherewith he dealt unfaithfully against Yahweh, over the word of Yahweh, which he kept not, —and, also, in asking by necromancy when he desired to enquire;
| او از خداوند هدایت نخواست و خداوند هم او را نابود کرد و سلطنتش را به داوود پسر یَسا داد. | 14 |
and enquired not of Yahweh, wherefore he slew him, —and turned round the kingdom unto David, son of Jesse.
