وقتی که اسرائیل از مصر بیرون آمدند، و خاندان یعقوب از قوم اجنبی زبان، ۱ 1
When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a people of a foreign language;
یهودا مقدس او بود و اسرائیل محل سلطنت وی. ۲ 2
Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.
دریا این را بدید و گریخت واردن به عقب برگشت. ۳ 3
The sea saw it, and fled: Jordan was driven back.
کوهها مثل قوچها به جستن درآمدند و تلها مثل بره های گله. ۴ 4
The mountains skipped like rams, and the little hills like lambs.
‌ای دریاتو را چه شد که گریختی؟ و‌ای اردن که به عقب برگشتی؟ ۵ 5
What ailed thee, O thou sea, that thou fleddest? thou Jordan, that thou wast driven back?
‌ای کوهها که مثل قوچها به جستن درآمدید و‌ای تلها که مثل بره های گله. ۶ 6
Ye mountains, that ye skipped like rams; and ye little hills, like lambs?
‌ای زمین از حضور خداوند متزلزل شو و از حضور خدای یعقوب. ۷ 7
Tremble, thou earth, at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the God of Jacob;
که صخره را دریاچه آب گردانید وسنگ خارا را چشمه آب. ۸ 8
Who turned the rock into a standing water, the flint into a fountain of waters.
