امثال 8

۱ 1 آیا حکمت ندا نمی کند، و فطانت آوازخود را بلند نمی نماید؟

Doth not wisdom cry, And understanding put forth her voice?

۲ 2 به‌سر مکان های بلند، به کناره راه، در میان طریقها می‌ایستد.

On the top of high places by the way, Where the paths meet, she standeth;

۳ 3 به‌جانب دروازه‌ها به دهنه شهر، نزد مدخل دروازه‌ها صدا می‌زند.

Beside the gates, at the entry of the city, At the coming in at the doors, she crieth aloud:

۴ 4 که شما را‌ای مردان می‌خوانم و آواز من به بنی آدم است.

Unto you, O men, I call; And my voice is to the sons of men.

۵ 5 ‌ای جاهلان زیرکی را بفهمید و‌ای احمقان عقل رادرک نمایید.

O ye simple, understand prudence; And, ye fools, be of an understanding heart.

۶ 6 بشنوید زیرا که به امور عالیه تکلم می‌نمایم و گشادن لبهایم استقامت است.

Hear, for I will speak excellent things; And the opening of my lips shall be right things.

۷ 7 دهانم به راستی تنطق می‌کند و لبهایم شرارت را مکروه می‌دارد.

For my mouth shall utter truth; And wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

۸ 8 همه سخنان دهانم بر‌حق است و درآنها هیچ‌چیز کج یا معوج نیست.

All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; There is nothing crooked or perverse in them.

۹ 9 تمامی آنهانزد مرد فهیم واضح است و نزد یابندگان معرفت مستقیم است.

They are all plain to him that understandeth, And right to them that find knowledge.

۱۰ 10 تادیب مرا قبول کنید و نه نقره را، و معرفت را بیشتر از طلای خالص.

Receive my instruction, and not silver; And knowledge rather than choice gold.

۱۱ 11 زیرا که حکمت از لعلها بهتر است، و جمیع نفایس را به او برابر نتوان کرد.

For wisdom is better than rubies; And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared unto it.

۱۲ 12 من حکمتم و در زیرکی سکونت دارم، و معرفت تدبیر را یافته‌ام.

I wisdom have made prudence my dwelling, And find out knowledge [and] discretion.

۱۳ 13 ترس خداوند، مکروه داشتن بدی است. غرور و تکبر وراه بد و دهان دروغگو را مکروه می‌دارم.

The fear of Jehovah is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, And the perverse mouth, do I hate.

۱۴ 14 مشورت و حکمت کامل از آن من است. من فهم هستم و قوت از آن من است.

Counsel is mine, and sound knowledge: I am understanding; I have might.

۱۵ 15 به من پادشاهان سلطنت می‌کنند، و داوران به عدالت فتوا می‌دهند.

By me kings reign, And princes decree justice.

۱۶ 16 به من سروران حکمرانی می‌نمایند و شریفان و جمیع داوران جهان.

By me princes rule, And nobles, [even] all the judges of the earth.

۱۷ 17 من دوست می‌دارم آنانی را که مرا دوست می‌دارند. وهر‌که مرا به جد و جهد بطلبد مرا خواهد یافت.

I love them that love me; And those that seek me diligently shall find me.

۱۸ 18 دولت و جلال با من است. توانگری جاودانی وعدالت.

Riches and honor are with me; [Yea], durable wealth and righteousness.

۱۹ 19 ثمره من از طلا و زر ناب بهتر است، وحاصل من از نقره خالص.

My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; And my revenue than choice silver.

۲۰ 20 در طریق عدالت می‌خرامم، در میان راههای انصاف،

I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice;

۲۱ 21 تا مال حقیقی را نصیب محبان خود گردانم، وخزینه های ایشان را مملو سازم.

That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance, And that I may fill their treasuries.

۲۲ 22 خداوند مرا مبداء طریق خود داشت، قبل از اعمال خویش از ازل.

Jehovah possessed me in the beginning of his way, Before his works of old.

۲۳ 23 من از ازل برقرار بودم، از ابتدا پیش از بودن جهان.

I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, Before the earth was.

۲۴ 24 هنگامی که لجه هانبود من مولود شدم، وقتی که چشمه های پر ازآب وجود نداشت.

When there were no depths, I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water.

۲۵ 25 قبل از آنگاه کوهها برپاشود، پیش از تلها مولود گردیدم.

Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills was I brought forth;

۲۶ 26 چون زمین وصحراها را هنوز نساخته بود، و نه اول غبار ربع مسکون را.

While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world.

۲۷ 27 وقتی که او آسمان را مستحکم ساخت من آنجا بودم، و هنگامی که دایره را برسطح لجه قرار داد.

When he established the heavens, I was there: When he set a circle upon the face of the deep,

۲۸ 28 وقتی که افلاک را بالااستوار کرد، و چشمه های لجه را استوار گردانید.

When he made firm the skies above, When the fountains of the deep became strong,

۲۹ 29 چون به دریا حد قرار داد، تا آبها از فرمان اوتجاوز نکنند، و زمانی که بنیاد زمین را نهاد.

When he gave to the sea its bound, That the waters should not transgress his commandment, When he marked out the foundations of the earth;

۳۰ 30 آنگاه نزد او معمار بودم، و روزبروز شادی می‌نمودم، و همیشه به حضور او اهتزاز می‌کردم.

Then I was by him, [as] a master workman; And I was daily [his] delight, Rejoicing always before him,

۳۱ 31 و اهتزاز من در آبادی زمین وی، و شادی من بابنی آدم می‌بود.

Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men.

۳۲ 32 پس الان‌ای پسران مرا بشنوید، وخوشابحال آنانی که طریقهای مرا نگاه دارند.

Now therefore, [my] sons, hearken unto me; For blessed are they that keep my ways.

۳۳ 33 تادیب را بشنوید و حکیم باشید، و آن را ردمنمایید.

Hear instruction, and be wise, And refuse it not.

۳۴ 34 خوشابحال کسی‌که مرا بشنود، و هرروز نزد درهای من دیده بانی کند، و باهوهای دروازه های مرا محافظت نماید.

Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors.

۳۵ 35 زیرا هر‌که مرایابد حیات را تحصیل کند، و رضامندی خداوندرا حاصل نماید.

For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favor of Jehovah.

۳۶ 36 و اما کسی‌که مرا خطا کند، به‌جان خود ضرر رساند، و هر‌که مرا دشمن دارد، موت را دوست دارد.

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: All they that hate me love death.
