امثال 5

۱ 1 ای پسر من، به حکمت من توجه نما، و گوش خود را به فطانت من فراگیر،

My son, attend unto my wisdom, incline thine ear to my understanding;

۲ 2 تاتدابیر را محافظت نمایی، و لبهایت معرفت رانگاه دارد.

that thou mayest keep reflection, and that thy lips may preserve knowledge.

۳ 3 زیرا که لبهای زن اجنبی عسل رامی چکاند، و دهان او از روغن ملایم تر است.

For the lips of the strange woman drop honey, and her mouth is smoother than oil;

۴ 4 لیکن آخر او مثل افسنتین تلخ است و برنده مثل شمشیر دودم.

but her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

۵ 5 پایهایش به موت فرو می‌رود، وقدمهایش به هاویه متمسک می‌باشد. (Sheol h7585)

Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on Sheol. (Sheol h7585)

۶ 6 به طریق حیات هرگز سالک نخواهد شد. قدمهایش آواره شده است و او نمی داند.

Lest she should ponder the path of life, her ways wander, she knoweth not [whither].

۷ 7 و الان‌ای پسرانم مرابشنوید، و از سخنان دهانم انحراف مورزید.

And now, children, hearken unto me, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

۸ 8 طریق خود را از او دور ساز، و به در خانه اونزدیک مشو.

Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

۹ 9 مبادا عنفوان جوانی خود را به دیگران بدهی، و سالهای خویش را به ستم کیشان.

lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel;

۱۰ 10 و غریبان از اموال تو سیر شوند، و ثمره محنت تو به خانه بیگانه رود.

lest strangers be filled with thy wealth, and the fruits of thy toil [come] into the house of a stranger;

۱۱ 11 که در عاقبت خودنوحه گری نمایی، هنگامی که گوشت و بدنت فانی شده باشد،

and thou mourn in thine end, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed;

۱۲ 12 و گویی چرا ادب را مکروه داشتم، و دل من تنبیه را خوار شمرد،

and thou say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof!

۱۳ 13 و آواز مرشدان خود را نشنیدم، و به معلمان خود گوش ندادم.

and I have not hearkened unto the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to those that instructed me;

۱۴ 14 نزدیک بود که هر گونه بدی را مرتکب شوم، در میان قوم و جماعت.

I was well nigh in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

۱۵ 15 آب را از منبع خود بنوش، و نهرهای جاری را از چشمه خویش.

Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

۱۶ 16 جویهای تو بیرون خواهد ریخت، و نهرهای آب در شوارع عام،

Thy fountains shall be poured forth, as water-brooks in the broadways.

۱۷ 17 و از آن خودت به تنهایی خواهد بود، و نه از آن غریبان با تو.

Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

۱۸ 18 چشمه تو مبارک باشد، و از زن جوانی خویش مسرور باش،

Let thy fountain be blessed; and have joy of the wife of thy youth.

۱۹ 19 مثل غزال محبوب و آهوی جمیل. پستانهایش تو را همیشه خرم سازد، و از محبت او دائم محفوظ باش.

As a lovely hind and a graceful roe, let her breasts satisfy thee at all times: be thou ravished continually with her love.

۲۰ 20 لیکن‌ای پسر من، چرا از زن بیگانه فریفته شوی؟ و سینه زن غریب را در بر‌گیری؟

And why shouldest thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

۲۱ 21 زیراکه راههای انسان در مدنظر خداوند است، وتمامی طریقهای وی را می‌سنجد.

For the ways of man are before the eyes of Jehovah, and he pondereth all his paths.

۲۲ 22 تقصیرهای شریر او را گرفتار می‌سازد، و به بندهای گناهان خود بسته می‌شود.

His own iniquities shall take the wicked, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sin.

۲۳ 23 او بدون ادب خواهد مرد، و به کثرت حماقت خویش تلف خواهد گردید.

He shall die for want of discipline; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
