امثال 30

۱ 1 کلمات و پیغام آکور بن یاقه. وحی آن مرد به ایتیئیل یعنی به ایتیئیل و اکال.

THE WORDS OF AGUR THE SONNE OF JAKEH. The prophecie which ye man spake vnto Ithiel, euen to Ithiel, and Vcal.

۲ 2 یقین من از هر آدمی وحشی تر هستم، و فهم انسان را ندارم.

Surely I am more foolish then any man, and haue not the vnderstanding of a man in me.

۳ 3 من حکمت را نیاموخته‌ام و معرفت قدوس را ندانسته‌ام.

For I haue not learned wisedome, nor atteined to the knowledge of holy things.

۴ 4 کیست که به آسمان صعود نمود و از آنجانزول کرد؟ کیست که باد را در مشت خود جمع نمود؟ و کیست که آب را در جامه بند نمود؟ کیست که تمامی اقصای زمین را استوار ساخت؟ نام او چیست و پسر او چه اسم دارد؟ بگو اگراطلاع داری.

Who hath ascended vp to heauen, and descended? Who hath gathered the winde in his fist? Who hath bound the waters in a garment? Who hath established all the endes of the world? What is his name, and what is his sonnes name, if thou canst tell?

۵ 5 تمامی کلمات خدا مصفی است. او به جهت متوکلان خود سپر است.

Euery worde of God is pure: he is a shield to those, that trust in him.

۶ 6 به سخنان او چیزی میفزا، مبادا تو را توبیخ نماید و تکذیب شوی.

Put nothing vnto his wordes, least he reproue thee, and thou be found a lyar.

۷ 7 دو چیز از تو درخواست نمودم، آنها را قبل از آنکه بمیرم از من بازمدار:

Two things haue I required of thee: denie me them not before I die.

۸ 8 بطالت و دروغ را از من دور کن، مرا نه فقر ده و نه دولت. به خوراکی که نصیب من باشد مرابپرور،

Remooue farre from me vanitie and lyes: giue me not pouertie, nor riches: feede me with foode conuenient for me,

۹ 9 مبادا سیر شده، تو را انکار نمایم و بگویم که خداوند کیست. و مبادا فقیر شده، دزدی نمایم، واسم خدای خود را به باطل برم.

Least I be full, and denie thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or least I be poore and steale, and take the Name of my God in vaine.

۱۰ 10 بنده را نزد آقایش متهم مساز، مبادا تو رالعنت کند و مجرم شوی.

Accuse not a seruant vnto his master, lest he curse thee, when thou hast offended.

۱۱ 11 گروهی می‌باشند که پدر خود را لعنت می‌نمایند، و مادر خویش را برکت نمی دهند.

There is a generation that curseth their father, and doeth not blesse their mother.

۱۲ 12 گروهی می‌باشند که در نظر خود پاک‌اند، اما از نجاست خود غسل نیافته‌اند.

There is a generation that are pure in their owne conceite, and yet are not washed from their filthinesse.

۱۳ 13 گروهی می‌باشند که چشمانشان چه قدربلند است، و مژگانشان چه قدر برافراشته.

There is a generation, whose eies are hautie, and their eye liddes are lifted vp.

۱۴ 14 گروهی می‌باشند که دندانهایشان شمشیرها است، و دندانهای آسیای ایشان کاردهاتا فقیران را از روی زمین و مسکینان را از میان مردمان بخورند.

There is a generation, whose teeth are as swordes, and their chawes as kniues to eate vp the afflicted out of the earth, and the poore from among men.

۱۵ 15 زالو را دو دختر است که بده بده می‌گویند. سه چیز است که سیر نمی شود، بلکه چهار چیزکه نمی گوید که کافی است:

The horse leache hath two daughters which crye, Giue, giue. There be three things that will not be satisfied: yea, foure that say not, It is ynough.

۱۶ 16 هاویه و رحم نازاد، و زمینی که از آب سیرنمی شود، و آتش که نمی گوید که کافی است. (Sheol h7585)

The graue, and the barren wombe, the earth that cannot be satisfied with water, and the fire that sayeth not, It is ynough. (Sheol h7585)

۱۷ 17 چشمی که پدر را استهزا می‌کند و اطاعت مادر را خوار می‌شمارد، غرابهای وادی آن راخواهند کند و بچه های عقاب آن را خواهندخورد.

The eye that mocketh his father and despiseth the instruction of his mother, let ye rauens of the valley picke it out, and the yong eagles eate it.

۱۸ 18 سه چیز است که برای من زیاده عجیب است، بلکه چهار چیز که آنها را نتوانم فهمید:

There be three thinges hid from me: yea, foure that I knowe not,

۱۹ 19 طریق عقاب در هوا و طریق مار بر صخره، و راه کشتی در میان دریا و راه مرد با دخترباکره.

The way of an eagle in the aire, the way of a serpent vpon a stone, ye way of a ship in ye middes of the sea, and the way of a man with a maide.

۲۰ 20 همچنان است طریق زن زانیه، می‌خورد ودهان خود را پاک می‌کند و می‌گوید گناه نکردم.

Such is ye way also of an adulterous woman: she eateth and wipeth her mouth, and sayth, I haue not committed iniquitie.

۲۱ 21 به‌سبب سه چیز زمین متزلزل می‌شود، و به‌سبب چهار که آنها را تحمل نتواند کرد:

For three things the earth is moued: yea, for foure it cannot susteine it selfe:

۲۲ 22 به‌سبب غلامی که سلطنت می‌کند، واحمقی که از غذا سیر شده باشد،

For a seruant when he reigneth, and a foole when he is filled with meate,

۲۳ 23 به‌سبب زن مکروهه چون منکوحه شود، وکنیز وقتی که وارث خاتون خود گردد.

For the hatefull woman, when she is married, and for a handmaid that is heire to her mistres.

۲۴ 24 چهار چیز است که در زمین بسیار کوچک است، لیکن بسیار حکیم می‌باشد:

These be foure small things in the earth, yet they are wise and full of wisedome:

۲۵ 25 مورچه‌ها طایفه بی‌قوتند، لیکن خوراک خود را در تابستان ذخیره می‌کنند.

The pismires a people not strong, yet prepare they their meate in sommer:

۲۶ 26 ونکها طایفه ناتوانند، اما خانه های خود رادر صخره می‌گذارند.

The conies a people not mightie, yet make their houses in the rocke:

۲۷ 27 ملخها را پادشاهی نیست، اما جمیع آنهادسته دسته بیرون می‌روند.

The grashopper hath no King, yet goe they forth all by bandes:

۲۸ 28 چلپاسه‌ها به‌دستهای خود می‌گیرند و درقصرهای پادشاهان می‌باشند.

The spider taketh holde with her handes, and is in Kings palaces.

۲۹ 29 سه چیز است که خوش خرام است، بلکه چهار چیز که خوش قدم می‌باشد:

There be three thinges that order well their going: yea, foure are comely in going,

۳۰ 30 شیر که در میان حیوانات تواناتر است، و ازهیچکدام روگردان نیست.

A lyon which is strong among beastes, and turneth not at the sight of any:

۳۱ 31 تازی و بز نر، و پادشاه که با او مقاومت نتوان کرد.

A lusty grayhound, and a goate, and a King against whom there is no rising vp.

۳۲ 32 اگر از روی حماقت خویشتن رابرافراشته‌ای و اگر بد اندیشیده‌ای، پس دست بردهان خود بگذار،

If thou hast bene foolish in lifting thy selfe vp, and if thou hast thought wickedly, lay thine hand vpon thy mouth.

۳۳ 33 زیرا چنانکه از فشردن شیر، پنیر بیرون می‌آید، و از فشردن بینی، خون بیرون می‌آید، همچنان از فشردن غضب نزاع بیرون می‌آید.

When one churneth milke, he bringeth foorth butter: and he that wringeth his nose, causeth blood to come out: so he that forceth wrath, bringeth foorth strife.
