امثال 24
| بر مردان شریر حسد مبر، و آرزو مدارتا با ایشان معاشرت نمایی، | ۱ 1 |
Be not you envious against evil men, neither desire to be with them.
| زیرا که دل ایشان در ظلم تفکر می‌کند ولبهای ایشان درباره مشقت تکلم می‌نماید. | ۲ 2 |
For their heart studies destruction, and their lips talk of mischief.
| خانه به حکمت بنا می‌شود، و با فطانت استوار می‌گردد، | ۳ 3 |
Through wisdom is an house built; and by understanding it is established:
| و به معرفت اطاقها پر می‌شود، از هر گونه اموال گرانبها و نفایس. | ۴ 4 |
And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.
| مرد حکیم در قدرت می‌ماند، و صاحب معرفت در توانایی ترقی می‌کند، | ۵ 5 |
A wise man is strong; yes, a man of knowledge increases strength.
| زیرا که با حسن تدبیر باید جنگ بکنی، و ازکثرت مشورت دهندگان نصرت است. | ۶ 6 |
For by wise counsel you shall make your war: and in multitude of counsellors there is safety.
| حکمت برای احمق زیاده بلند است، دهان خود را در دربار باز نمی کند. | ۷ 7 |
Wisdom is too high for a fool: he opens not his mouth in the gate.
| هر‌که برای بدی تفکر می‌کند، او را فتنه انگیزمی گویند. | ۸ 8 |
He that devises to do evil shall be called a mischievous person.
| فکر احمقان گناه است، و استهزاکننده نزد آدمیان مکروه است. | ۹ 9 |
The thought of foolishness is sin: and the scorner is an abomination to men.
| اگر در روز تنگی سستی نمایی، قوت توتنگ می‌شود. | ۱۰ 10 |
If you faint in the day of adversity, your strength is small.
| آنانی را که برای موت برده شوند خلاص کن، و از رهانیدن آنانی که برای قتل مهیااندکوتاهی منما. | ۱۱ 11 |
If you forbear to deliver them that are drawn to death, and those that are ready to be slain;
| اگر گویی که این را ندانستیم، آیا آزماینده دلها نمی فهمد؟ و حافظ جان تو نمی داند؟ و به هرکس برحسب اعمالش مکافات نخواهد داد؟ | ۱۲ 12 |
If you say, Behold, we knew it not; does not he that ponders the heart consider it? and he that keeps your soul, does not he know it? and shall not he render to every man according to his works?
| ای پسر من عسل را بخور زیرا که خوب است، و‌شان عسل را چونکه به کامت شیرین است. | ۱۳ 13 |
My son, eat you honey, because it is good; and the honeycomb, which is sweet to your taste:
| همچنین حکمت را برای جان خود بیاموز، اگر آن را بیابی آنگاه اجرت خواهد بود، و امید تومنقطع نخواهد شد. | ۱۴ 14 |
So shall the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul: when you have found it, then there shall be a reward, and your expectation shall not be cut off.
| ای شریر برای منزل مرد عادل در کمین مباش، و آرامگاه او را خراب مکن، | ۱۵ 15 |
Lay not wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; spoil not his resting place:
| زیرا مرد عادل اگر‌چه هفت مرتبه بیفتدخواهد برخاست، اما شریران در بلا خواهندافتاد. | ۱۶ 16 |
For a just man falls seven times, and rises up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.
| چون دشمنت بیفتد شادی مکن، و چون بلغزد دلت وجد ننماید، | ۱۷ 17 |
Rejoice not when your enemy falls, and let not your heart be glad when he stumbles:
| مبادا خداوند این را ببیند و در نظرش ناپسند آید، و غضب خود را از او برگرداند. | ۱۸ 18 |
Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
| خویشتن را به‌سبب بدکاران رنجیده مساز، و بر شریران حسد مبر، | ۱۹ 19 |
Fret not yourself because of evil men, neither be you envious at the wicked:
| زیرا که به جهت بدکاران اجر نخواهد بود، و چراغ شریران خاموش خواهد گردید. | ۲۰ 20 |
For there shall be no reward to the evil man; the candle of the wicked shall be put out.
| ای پسر من از خداوند و پادشاه بترس، و بامفسدان معاشرت منما، | ۲۱ 21 |
My son, fear you the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:
| زیرا که مصیبت ایشان ناگهان خواهدبرخاست، و عاقبت سالهای ایشان را کیست که بداند؟ | ۲۲ 22 |
For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knows the ruin of them both?
| اینها نیز از (سخنان ) حکیمان است طرفداری در داوری نیکو نیست. | ۲۳ 23 |
These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.
| کسی‌که به شریر بگوید تو عادل هستی، امت‌ها او را لعنت خواهند کرد و طوایف از اونفرت خواهند نمود. | ۲۴ 24 |
He that says to the wicked, You are righteous; him shall the people curse, nations shall abhor him:
| اما برای آنانی که او را توبیخ نمایندشادمانی خواهد بود، و برکت نیکو به ایشان خواهد رسید. | ۲۵ 25 |
But to them that rebuke him shall be delight, and a good blessing shall come on them.
| آنکه به کلام راست جواب گوید لبها رامی بوسد. | ۲۶ 26 |
Every man shall kiss his lips that gives a right answer.
| کار خود را در خارج آراسته کن، و آن را درملک مهیا ساز، و بعد از آن خانه خویش را بنا نما. | ۲۷ 27 |
Prepare your work without, and make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterwards build your house.
| بر همسایه خود بی‌جهت شهادت مده، و بالبهای خود فریب مده، | ۲۸ 28 |
Be not a witness against your neighbor without cause; and deceive not with your lips.
| و مگو به طوری که او به من عمل کرد من نیزبا وی عمل خواهم نمود، و مرد را برحسب اعمالش پاداش خواهم داد. | ۲۹ 29 |
Say not, I will do so to him as he has done to me: I will render to the man according to his work.
| از مزرعه مرد کاهل، و از تاکستان شخص ناقص العقل گذشتم. | ۳۰ 30 |
I went by the field of the slothful, and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding;
| و اینک بر تمامی آن خارها می‌رویید، وخس تمامی روی آن را می‌پوشانید، و دیوارسنگیش خراب شده بود، | ۳۱ 31 |
And, see, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered the face thereof, and the stone wall thereof was broken down.
| پس من نگریسته متفکر شدم، ملاحظه کردم و ادب آموختم. | ۳۲ 32 |
Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked on it, and received instruction.
| اندکی خفت و اندکی خواب، و اندکی بر هم نهادن دستها به جهت خواب. | ۳۳ 33 |
Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:
| پس فقر تو مثل راهزن بر تو خواهد آمد، ونیازمندی تو مانند مرد مسلح. | ۳۴ 34 |
So shall your poverty come as one that travels; and your want as an armed man.
