سوگنامه 1

۱ 1 چگونه شهری که پر از مخلوق بود منفردنشسته است! چگونه آنکه در میان امت هابزرگ بود مثل بیوه‌زن شده است! چگونه آنکه درمیان کشورها ملکه بود خراجگذار گردیده است!

Oh how doth she sit solitary—the city that was full of people is become like a widow! she that was so great among the nations, the princess among the provinces, is become tributary!

۲ 2 شبانگاه زارزار گریه می‌کند و اشکهایش بررخسارهایش می‌باشد. از جمیع محبانش برای وی تسلی دهنده‌ای نیست. همه دوستانش بدوخیانت ورزیده، دشمن او شده‌اند.

She weepeth sorely in the night, and her tears are on her cheeks; she hath none to comfort her among all her lovers; all her friends have dealt treacherously toward her, they are become her enemies.

۳ 3 یهودا به‌سبب مصیبت و سختی بندگی، جلای وطن شده است. در میان امت‌ها نشسته، راحت نمی یابد. و جمیع تعاقب کنندگانش درمیان جایهای تنگ به او در‌رسیده‌اند.

Exiled is Judah because of affliction, and because of the greatness of servitude she dwelleth indeed among the nations, she findeth no rest: all her pursuers have overtaken her between the narrow passes.

۴ 4 راههای صهیون ماتم می‌گیرند، چونکه کسی به عیدهای او نمی آید. همه دروازه هایش خراب شده، کاهنانش آه می‌کشند. دوشیزگانش در مرارت می‌باشند و خودش در تلخی.

The ways to Zion are in mourning, because none come to the solemn feasts; all her gates are desolate; her priests sigh; her virgins moan, and she suffereth herself from bitter grief.

۵ 5 خصمانش سر شده‌اند و دشمنانش فیروزگردیده، زیرا که یهوه به‌سبب کثرت عصیانش، اورا ذلیل ساخته است. اطفالش پیش روی دشمن به اسیری رفته‌اند.

Her adversaries are become chiefs, her enemies prosper; for the Lord hath caused her to grieve because of the multitude of her transgressions: her babes are gone into captivity before the adversary.

۶ 6 و تمامی زیبایی دختر صهیون از او زایل شده، سرورانش مثل غزالهایی که مرتعی پیدانمی کنند گردیده، از حضور تعاقب کننده بی‌قوت می‌روند.

And there is gone forth from the daughter of Zion all her splendor: her princes are become like harts that have found no pasture, and they flee without strength before the pursuer.

۷ 7 اورشلیم در روزهای مذلت و شقاوت خویش تمام نفایسی را که در ایام سابق داشته بودبه یاد می‌آورد. زیرا که قوم او به‌دست دشمن افتاده‌اند و برای وی مدد کننده‌ای نیست. دشمنانش او را دیده، بر خرابیهایش خندیدند.

Jerusalem remembereth in the days of her affliction and of her miseries all her magnificent things which have been in the days of old: when her people fell into the hand of the adversary, with none to help her, the adversaries looked at her, they laughed at the cessation [of her glory].

۸ 8 اورشلیم به شدت گناه ورزیده و از این سبب مکروه گردیده است. جمیع آنانی که او را محترم می‌داشتند او را خوار می‌شمارند چونکه برهنگی او را دیده‌اند. و خودش نیز آه می‌کشد و به عقب برگشته است.

A grievous sin did Jerusalem commit, therefore is she become a wanderer: all that honored her hold her in contempt, because they have seen her nakedness; she also sigheth, and turneth [ashamed] backward.

۹ 9 نجاست او در دامنش می‌باشد و آخرت خویش را به یاد نمی آورد. و بطور عجیب پست گردیده، برای وی تسلی دهنده‌ای نیست. ای یهوه مذلت مرا ببین زیرا که دشمن تکبر می‌نماید.

[With] her uncleanness on her skirts, she thought not of her latter end: therefore is she come down wonderfully, without one to comfort her. Behold, O Lord, my affliction; for the enemy hath become great [above me].

۱۰ 10 دشمن دست خویش را بر همه نفایس اودراز کرده است. زیرا امت هایی را که امر فرمودی که به جماعت تو داخل نشوند دیده است که به مقدس او در می‌آیند.

His hand hath the adversary spread out over all her magnificent things; for she hath seen nations entering into her sanctuary, of whom thou didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.

۱۱ 11 تمام قوم او آه کشیده، نان می‌جویند. تمام نفایس خود را به جهت خوراک داده‌اند تا جان خود را تازه کنند. ای یهوه ببین و ملاحظه فرمازیرا که من خوار شده‌ام.

all her people sigh, they are seeking bread; they have given their precious things for food to refresh their soul: see, O Lord, and look, how I have been brought low.

۱۲ 12 ‌ای جمیع راه گذریان آیا این در نظر شماهیچ است؟ ملاحظه کنید و ببینید آیا غمی مثل غم من بوده است که بر من عارض گردیده و یهوه در روز حدت خشم خویش مرا به آن مبتلاساخته است؟

“I adjure you, all that pass this way, behold, and see if there be any pain like unto my pain, which hath been inflicted on me, wherewith the Lord hath aggrieved me on the day of his fierce anger.

۱۳ 13 آتش از اعلی علیین به استخوانهای من فرستاده، آنها را زبون ساخته است. دام برای پایهایم گسترانیده، مرا به عقب برگردانیده، و مراویران و در تمام روز غمگین ساخته است.

From on high hath he sent a fire into my bones, and breaketh [them] one by one: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath caused me to return backward; he hath made me desolate, sick all the day.

۱۴ 14 یوغ عصیان من به‌دست وی محکم بسته شده، آنها به هم پیچیده بر گردن من برآمده است. خداوند قوت مرا زایل ساخته و مرا به‌دست کسانی که با ایشان مقاومت نتوانم نمود تسلیم کرده است.

Bound fast is the yoke of my transgressions by his hand, — they are wreathed, and come up upon my neck; he hath made my strength to stumble: the Lord hath given me up into the hands of [those against whom] I am not able to rise up.

۱۵ 15 خداوند جمیع شجاعان مرا در میانم تلف ساخته است. جماعتی بر من خوانده است تاجوانان مرا منکسر سازند. و خداوند آن دوشیزه یعنی دختر یهودا را در چرخشت پایمال کرده است.

The Lord hath trodden under foot all my mighty men in the midst of me; he hath called an assembly against me to crush my young men: a winepress hath the Lord trodden over the virgin, the daughter of Judah.

۱۶ 16 به‌سبب این چیزها گریه می‌کنم. از چشم من، از چشم من آب می‌ریزد زیرا تسلی دهنده وتازه کننده جانم از من دور است. پسرانم هلاک شده‌اند زیرا که دشمن، غالب آمده است.

For these things do I weep; my eye, my eye runneth down with water; because far from me is the comforter that should refresh my soul: my children are in misery, because the enemy hath prevailed.”

۱۷ 17 صهیون دستهای خود را دراز می‌کند امابرایش تسلی دهنده‌ای نیست. یهوه درباره یعقوب امر فرموده است که مجاورانش دشمن اوبشوند، پس اورشلیم در میان آنها مکروه گردیده است.

Zion spreadeth forth her hands, without one to comfort her; the Lord hath given a charge concerning Jacob to all his adversaries round about him: Jerusalem is become as an unclean woman among them.

۱۸ 18 یهوه عادل است زیرا که من از فرمان اوعصیان ورزیده‌ام. ای جمیع امت‌ها بشنوید و غم مرا مشاهده نمایید! دوشیزگان و جوانان من به اسیری رفته‌اند.

“Righteous is the Lord; for against his orders have I rebelled: oh do hear, all ye people, and see my pain! my virgins and my young men are gone into captivity.

۱۹ 19 محبان خویش را خواندم اما ایشان مرافریب دادند. کاهنان و مشایخ من که خوراک می‌جستند تا جان خود را تازه کنند در شهر جان دادند.

I called for my lovers, but they deceived me: my priests and my elders perished in the city; for they sought food for themselves to refresh their soul.

۲۰ 20 ‌ای یهوه نظر کن زیرا که در تنگی هستم. احشایم می‌جوشد و دلم در اندرون من منقلب شده است چونکه به شدت عصیان ورزیده‌ام. دربیرون شمشیر هلاک می‌کند و در خانه‌ها مثل موت است.

See, O Lord! how I am in distress; my bowels are heated; my heart is turned round within me; because I have grievously rebelled: abroad bereaveth the sword, at home, like the pestilence.

۲۱ 21 می‌شنوند که آه می‌کشم اما برایم تسلی دهنده‌ای نیست. دشمنانم چون بلای مراشنیدند، مسرور شدند که تو این را کرده‌ای. اما توروزی را که اعلان نموده‌ای خواهی آورد و ایشان مثل من خواهند شد.

They hear how greatly I sigh, [yet] there is none to comfort me; all my enemies have heard of my misfortune, they are glad that thou hast done it: oh that thou wouldst bring the day which thou hast proclaimed [against me], that they may become like me.

۲۲ 22 تمامی شرارت ایشان به نظر تو بیاید. وچنانکه با من به‌سبب تمامی معصیتم عمل نمودی به ایشان نیز عمل نما. زیرا که ناله های من بسیار است و دلم بیتاب شده است.

Let all their wickedness come before thee, and do unto them as thou hast done unto me because of all my transgressions; for many are my sighs, and my heart is sick.”
