| و ابیملک بن یربعل نزد برادران مادر خود به شکیم رفته، ایشان و تمامی قبیله خاندان پدر مادرش را خطاب کرده، گفت: | ۱ 1 |
And Abimelech son of Jerubbaal went to Shechem to his mother's brethren, and spoke to them, and to all the family of the house of his mother's father, saying,
| «الان درگوشهای جمیع اهل شکیم بگویید، برای شماکدام بهتر است؟ که هفتاد نفر یعنی همه پسران یربعل بر شما حکمرانی کنند؟ یا اینکه یک شخص بر شما حاکم باشد؟ و بیاد آورید که من استخوان و گوشت شما هستم.» | ۲ 2 |
Speak, I pray you, in the ears of all the citizens of Shechem, Which is better for you, that seventy persons, all sons of Jerubbaal, rule over you, or that one man rule over you? And remember that I am your bone and your flesh.
| و برادران مادرش درباره او در گوشهای جمیع اهل شکیم همه این سخنان را گفتند، و دل ایشان به پیروی ابیملک مایل شد، زیرا گفتند او برادر ماست. | ۳ 3 |
And his mother's brethren spoke of him in the ears of all the citizens of Shechem all these words. And their heart inclined after Abimelech; for they said, He is our brother.
| وهفتاد مثقال نقره از خانه بعل بریت به او دادند، وابیملک مردان مهمل و باطل را به آن اجیر کرد که او را پیروی نمودند. | ۴ 4 |
And they gave him seventy pieces of silver out of the house of Baal-Berith, and Abimelech hired with them vain and wanton men, and they followed him.
| پس به خانه پدرش به عفره رفته، برادران خود پسران یربعل را که هفتاد نفربودند بر یک سنگ بکشت، لیکن یونام پسرکوچک یربعل زنده ماند، زیرا خود را پنهان کرده بود. | ۵ 5 |
And he came to his father's house, to Ophrah, and slew his brethren the sons of Jerubbaal, seventy persons upon one stone; but there remained Jotham the youngest son of Jerubbaal; for he had hid himself.
| و تمامی اهل شکیم و تمامی خاندان ملوجمع شده، رفتند، و ابیملک را نزد بلوط ستون که در شکیم است، پادشاه ساختند. | ۶ 6 |
And all the citizens of Shechem gathered together, and all the house of Millo, and went and made Abimelech king, by the memorial-oak that is in Shechem.
| و چون یوتام را از این خبر دادند، او رفته، به‌سر کوه جرزیم ایستاد و آواز خود را بلند کرده، ندا در‌داد و به ایشان گفت: «ای مردان شکیم مرابشنوید تا خدا شما را بشنود. | ۷ 7 |
And they told it to Jotham, and he went and stood on the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said to them, Hearken to me, ye citizens of Shechem, that God may hearken to you.
| وقتی درختان رفتند تا بر خود پادشاهی نصب کنند، و به درخت زیتون گفتند بر ما سلطنت نما. | ۸ 8 |
The trees once went forth to anoint a king over them; and they said to the olive-tree, Reign over us.
| درخت زیتون به ایشان گفت: آیا روغن خود را که به‌سبب آن خداو انسان مرا محترم می‌دارند ترک کنم و رفته، بردرختان حکمرانی نمایم؟ | ۹ 9 |
And the olive-tree said to them, Should I leave my fatness, wherewith by me they honour God and man, and go to wave over the trees?
| و درختان به انجیرگفتند که تو بیا و بر ما سلطنت نما. | ۱۰ 10 |
And the trees said to the fig-tree, Come thou, reign over us.
| انجیر به ایشان گفت: آیا شیرینی و میوه نیکوی خود راترک بکنم و رفته، بر درختان حکمرانی نمایم؟ | ۱۱ 11 |
But the fig-tree said to them, Should I leave my sweetness, and my good fruit, and go to wave over the trees?
| و درختان به مو گفتند که بیا و بر ما سلطنت نما. | ۱۲ 12 |
Then said the trees to the vine, Come thou, reign over us.
| مو به ایشان گفت: آیا شیره خود را که خدا وانسان را خوش می‌سازد ترک بکنم و رفته، بردرختان حکمرانی نمایم؟ | ۱۳ 13 |
And the vine said to them, Should I leave my new wine, which cheers God and man, and go to wave over the trees?
| و جمیع درختان به خار گفتند که تو بیا و بر ما سلطنت نما. | ۱۴ 14 |
Then said all the trees to the thorn-bush, Come thou, reign over us.
| خار به درختان گفت: اگر به حقیقت شما مرا بر خود پادشاه نصب می‌کنید، پس بیایید و درسایه من پناه گیرید، و اگر نه آتش از خار بیرون بیاید و سروهای آزاد لبنان را بسوزاند. | ۱۵ 15 |
And the thorn-bush said to the trees, If in truth ye anoint me king over you, come, put confidence in my shadow; but if not, fire shall come out of the thorn-bush and devour the cedars of Lebanon.
| و الان اگر براستی و صداقت عمل نمودید در اینکه ابیملک را پادشاه ساختید، و اگر به یربعل وخاندانش نیکویی کردید و برحسب عمل دستهایش رفتار نمودید. | ۱۶ 16 |
Now therefore, if ye have dealt truly and sincerely in that ye have made Abimelech king, and if ye have dealt well with Jerubbaal and his house, and if ye have done to him according to the deserving of his hands;
| زیرا که پدر من به جهت شما جنگ کرده، جان خود را به خطرانداخت و شما را از دست مدیان رهانید. | ۱۷ 17 |
— for my father fought for you, and endangered his life, and delivered you out of the hand of Midian;
| وشما امروز بر خاندان پدرم برخاسته، پسرانش، یعنی هفتاد نفر را بر یک سنگ کشتید، و پسر کنیزاو ابیملک را چون برادر شما بود بر اهل شکیم پادشاه ساختید. | ۱۸ 18 |
but ye are risen up against my father's house this day, and have slain his sons, seventy men, upon one stone, and have made Abimelech, the son of his handmaid, king over the citizens of Shechem, because he is your brother;
| پس اگر امروز به راستی وصداقت با یربعل و خاندانش عمل نمودید، ازابیملک شاد باشید و او از شما شاد باشد. | ۱۹ 19 |
— if ye then have dealt truly and sincerely with Jerubbaal and with his house this day, rejoice ye in Abimelech, and let him also rejoice in you;
| واگرنه آتش از ابیملک بیرون بیاید، و اهل شکیم وخاندان ملو را بسوزاند، و آتش از اهل شکیم وخاندان ملو بیرون بیاید و ابیملک را بسوزاند.» | ۲۰ 20 |
but if not, let fire come out from Abimelech, and devour the citizens of Shechem and the house of Millo; and let fire come out from the citizens of Shechem and from the house of Millo, and devour Abimelech.
| پس یوتام فرار کرده، گریخت و به بئیر آمده، درآنجا از ترس برادرش، ابیملک، ساکن شد. | ۲۱ 21 |
And Jotham ran away, and fled, and went to Beer, and dwelt there, because of Abimelech his brother.
| و ابیملک بر اسرائیل سه سال حکمرانی کرد. | ۲۲ 22 |
And Abimelech ruled over Israel three years.
| و خدا روحی خبیث در میان ابیملک واهل شکیم فرستاد، و اهل شکیم با ابیملک خیانت ورزیدند. | ۲۳ 23 |
And God sent an evil spirit between Abimelech and the citizens of Shechem; and the citizens of Shechem dealt treacherously with Abimelech,
| تا انتقام ظلمی که بر هفتاد پسریربعل شده بود، بشود، و خون آنها را از برادرایشان ابیملک که ایشان را کشته بود، و از اهل شکیم که دستهایش را برای کشتن برادران خودقوی ساخته بودند، گرفته شود. | ۲۴ 24 |
that the violence [done] to the seventy sons of Jerubbaal might come, and their blood be laid upon Abimelech their brother, who slew them, and upon the citizens of Shechem, who had strengthened his hands to slay his brethren.
| پس اهل شکیم بر قله های کوهها برای او کمین گذاشتند، و هرکس را که از طرف ایشان در راه می‌گذشت، تاراج می‌کردند. پس ابیملک را خبر دادند. | ۲۵ 25 |
And the citizens of Shechem set liers in wait for him on the tops of the mountains, and they robbed all that came along that way by them. And it was told Abimelech.
| و جعل بن عابد با برادرانش آمده، به شکیم رسیدند و اهل شکیم بر او اعتماد نمودند. | ۲۶ 26 |
And Gaal the son of Ebed came with his brethren, and went over to Shechem; and the citizens of Shechem put confidence in him.
| و به مزرعه‌ها بیرون رفته، موها را چیدند و انگور رافشرده، بزم نمودند، و به خانه خدای خود داخل شده، اکل و شرب کردند و ابیملک را لعنت نمودند. | ۲۷ 27 |
And they went out into the fields, and gathered their vineyards, and trode [the grapes], and made rejoicings, and went into the house of their god, and ate and drank, and cursed Abimelech.
| و جعل بن عابد گفت: «ابیملک کیست و شکیم کیست که او را بندگی نماییم؟ آیا او پسریربعل و زبول، وکیل او نیست؟ مردان حامور پدرشکیم را بندگی نمایید. ما چرا باید او را بندگی کنیم؟ | ۲۸ 28 |
And Gaal the son of Ebed said, Who is Abimelech, and who is Shechem, that we should serve him? is he not the son of Jerubbaal? and Zebul his overseer? Serve the men of Hamor the father of Shechem! and why should we serve him?
| کاش که این قوم زیر دست من می‌بودندتا ابیملک را رفع می‌کردم، و به ابیملک گفت: لشکر خود را زیاد کن و بیرون بیا.» | ۲۹ 29 |
Oh! would that this people were under my hand! then would I remove Abimelech. And he said to Abimelech, Increase thine army, and come out.
| و چون زبول، رئیس شهر، سخن جعل بن عابد را شنید خشم او افروخته شد. | ۳۰ 30 |
And Zebul the ruler of the city heard the words of Gaal the son of Ebed, and his anger was kindled;
| پس به حیله قاصدان نزد ابیملک فرستاده، گفت: «اینک جعل بن عابد با برادرانش به شکیم آمده‌اند وایشان شهر را به ضد تو تحریک می‌کنند. | ۳۱ 31 |
and he sent messengers to Abimelech craftily, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brethren are come to Shechem, and behold, they shut up the city against thee;
| پس الان در شب برخیز، تو و قومی که همراه توست، و در صحرا کمین کن. | ۳۲ 32 |
and now, rise up by night, thou and the people that are with thee, and lie in ambush in the fields.
| و بامدادان در وقت طلوع آفتاب برخاسته، به شهر هجوم آور، و اینک چون او و کسانی که همراهش هستند بر تو بیرون آیند، آنچه در قوت توست، با او خواهی کرد.» | ۳۳ 33 |
And it shall be in the morning when the sun is up, thou shalt rise early, and fall upon the city; and behold, he and the people that is with him shall come out against thee, and thou shalt do with him as thou shalt find occasion.
| پس ابیملک و همه کسانی که با وی بودند، در شب برخاسته، چهار دسته شده، در مقابل شکیم در کمین نشستند. | ۳۴ 34 |
And Abimelech rose up, and all the people that were with him, by night, and they lay in ambush against Shechem in four companies.
| و جعل بن عابد بیرون آمده، به دهنه دروازه شهر ایستاد، و ابیملک وکسانی که با وی بودند از کمینگاه برخاستند. | ۳۵ 35 |
And Gaal the son of Ebed went out, and stood in the entrance of the gate of the city. Then Abimelech rose up, and the people that were with him, out of the ambush.
| وچون جعل آن گروه را دید به زبول گفت: «اینک گروهی از سر کوهها به زیر می‌آیند.» زبول وی راگفت: «سایه کوهها را مثل مردم می‌بینی.» | ۳۶ 36 |
And Gaal saw the people, and said to Zebul, Behold, people are coming down from the tops of the mountains. And Zebul said to him, Thou seest the shadow of the mountains as men.
| باردیگر جعل متکلم شده، گفت: «اینک گروهی ازبلندی زمین به زیر می‌آیند و جمعی دیگر از راه بلوط معونیم می‌آیند.» | ۳۷ 37 |
And Gaal spoke again, and said, Behold, people are coming down from the high part of the land, and one company is coming along by the way of the Magician's oak.
| زبول وی را گفت: «الان زبان تو کجاست که گفتی ابیملک کیست که او را بندگی نماییم؟ آیا این آن قوم نیست که حقیرشمردی؟ پس حال بیرون رفته، با ایشان جنگ کن.» | ۳۸ 38 |
Then said Zebul to him, Where is now thy mouth, thou that saidst, Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him? is not this the people that thou hast despised? go out now, I pray, and fight against them.
| و جعل پیش روی اهل شکیم بیرون شده، با ابیملک جنگ کرد. | ۳۹ 39 |
And Gaal went out before the citizens of Shechem, and fought against Abimelech.
| و ابیملک او را منهزم ساخت که از حضور وی فرار کرد و بسیاری تادهنه دروازه مجروح افتادند. | ۴۰ 40 |
And Abimelech pursued him, and he fled before him, and there fell many wounded, as far as the entrance of the gate.
| و ابیملک درارومه ساکن شد، و زبول، جعل و برادرانش رابیرون کرد تا در شکیم نباشند. | ۴۱ 41 |
And Abimelech dwelt at Arumah. And Zebul drove out Gaal and his brethren, that they might not dwell in Shechem.
| و در فردای آن روز واقع شد که مردم به صحرا بیرون رفتند، و ابیملک را خبر دادند. | ۴۲ 42 |
And it came to pass on the morrow, that the people went out into the field; and they told Abimelech.
| پس مردان خود را گرفته، ایشان را به سه فرقه تقسیم نمود، و در صحرا در کمین نشست، و نگاه کرد و اینک مردم از شهر بیرون می‌آیند، پس برایشان برخاسته، ایشان را شکست داد. | ۴۳ 43 |
And he took the people, and divided them into three companies, and lay in ambush in the field. And he looked, and behold, the people came forth out of the city; and he rose up against them and smote them.
| وابیملک با فرقه‌ای که با وی بودند حمله برده، دردهنه دروازه شهر ایستادند، و آن دو فرقه برکسانی که در صحرا بودند هجوم آوردند، و ایشان را شکست دادند. | ۴۴ 44 |
And Abimelech, and the companies that were with him, rushed forward, and stood in the entrance of the gate of the city; and two of the companies ran upon all that were in the fields, and slew them.
| و ابیملک در تمامی آن روزبا شهر جنگ کرده، شهر را گرفت و مردم را که درآن بودند، کشت، و شهر را منهدم ساخته، نمک در آن کاشت. | ۴۵ 45 |
And Abimelech fought against the city all that day; and he took the city, and slew the people that were in it, and broke down the city, and sowed it with salt.
| و چون همه مردان برج شکیم این راشنیدند، به قلعه بیت ئیل بریت داخل شدند. | ۴۶ 46 |
And all the men of the tower of Shechem heard [that], and they entered into the stronghold of the house of the god Berith.
| وبه ابیملک خبر دادند که همه مردان برج شکیم جمع شده‌اند. | ۴۷ 47 |
And it was told Abimelech that all the men of the tower of Shechem had gathered together.
| آنگاه ابیملک با همه کسانی که باوی بودند به کوه صلمون برآمدند، و ابیملک تبری به‌دست گرفته، شاخه‌ای از درخت بریده، آن را گرفت و بر دوش خود نهاده، به کسانی که باوی بودند، گفت: «آنچه مرا دیدید که کردم تعجیل نموده، مثل من بکنید.» | ۴۸ 48 |
Then Abimelech went up to mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him; and Abimelech took an axe in his hand, and cut down a bough from the trees, and took it up and laid it on his shoulder, and said to the people that was with him, What ye have seen me do, make haste, do as I have done.
| و تمامی قوم، هر کس شاخه خود را بریده، در عقب ابیملک افتادند و آنها را به اطراف قلعه نهاده، قلعه را بر سرایشان به آتش سوزانیدند، به طوری که همه مردمان برج شکیم که تخمین هزار مرد و زن بودند، بمردند. | ۴۹ 49 |
And all the people likewise cut down every man his bough, and they followed Abimelech, and put [them] to the hold, and burned the hold with fire upon them. And all the men of the tower of Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
| و ابیملک به تاباص رفت و بر تاباص اردوزده، آن را گرفت. | ۵۰ 50 |
And Abimelech went to Thebez, and encamped against Thebez, and took it.
| و در میان شهر برج محکمی بود و همه مردان و زنان و تمامی اهل شهر درآنجا فرار کردند، و درها را بر خود بسته، به پشت بام برج برآمدند. | ۵۱ 51 |
But there was a strong tower in the midst of the city, and thither fled all the men and women, all the citizens of the city; and they shut it behind them, and went up to the roof of the tower.
| و ابیملک نزد برج آمده، با آن جنگ کرد، و به دروازه برج نزدیک شد تا آن را به آتش بسوزاند. | ۵۲ 52 |
And Abimelech came to the tower, and fought against it, and he drew near to the entrance of the tower to burn it with fire;
| آنگاه زنی سنگ بالائین آسیایی گرفته، بر سر ابیملک انداخت و کاسه سرش را شکست. | ۵۳ 53 |
and a woman cast the upper stone of a handmill on Abimelech's head, and crushed his skull.
| پس جوانی را که سلاحدارش بود به زودی صدا زده، وی را گفت: «شمشیر خود را کشیده، مرا بکش، مبادا درباره من بگویند زنی او را کشت.» پس غلامش شمشیررا به او فرو برد که مرد. | ۵۴ 54 |
Then he called hastily to the young man that carried his armour, and said to him, Draw thy sword, and slay me, that they say not of me, A woman killed him. And his young man thrust him through, and he died.
| و چون مردان اسرائیل دیدند که ابیملک مرده است، هر کس به مکان خود رفت. | ۵۵ 55 |
And when the men of Israel saw that Abimelech was dead, they went every man to his place.
| پس خدا شر ابیملک را که به پدرخود به کشتن هفتاد برادر خویش رسانیده بود، مکافات کرد. | ۵۶ 56 |
And God rendered back the wickedness of Abimelech, which he did to his father in slaying his seventy brethren.
| و خدا تمامی شر مردم شکیم رابر سر ایشان برگردانید، و لعنت یوتام بن یربعل برایشان رسید. | ۵۷ 57 |
And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render back upon their heads; and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
