یوشع 2

۱ 1 و یوشع بن نون دو مرد جاسوس از شطیم به پنهانی فرستاده، گفت: «روانه شده، زمین واریحا را ببینید.» پس رفته، به خانه زن زانیه‌ای که راحاب نام داشت داخل شده، در آنجا خوابیدند.

And Joshua the son of Nun sent out of Shittim two men as spies secretly, saying, Go, view the land, and Jericho. And they went and came into the house of a harlot whose name was Rahab, and lay there.

۲ 2 و ملک اریحا را خبر دادند که «اینک مردمان ازبنی‌اسرائیل امشب داخل این‌جا شدند تا زمین راجاسوسی کنند.»

And it was told the king of Jericho, saying, Behold, there came men in hither to-night of the children of Israel to search out the land.

۳ 3 و ملک اریحا نزد راحاب فرستاده، گفت: «مردانی را که نزد تو آمده، به خانه تو داخل شده‌اند، بیرون بیاور زیرا برای جاسوسی تمامی زمین آمده‌اند.»

And the king of Jericho sent unto Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, that are entered into thy house; for they are come to search out all the land.

۴ 4 و زن آن دومرد را گرفته، ایشان را پنهان کرد و گفت: «بلی آن مردان نزد من آمدند اما ندانستم از کجا بودند.

And the woman took the two men, and hid them; and she said, Yea, the men came unto me, but I knew not whence they were:

۵ 5 ونزدیک به وقت بستن دروازه، آن مردان در تاریکی بیرون رفتند و نمی دانم که ایشان کجا رفتند. به زودی ایشان را تعاقب نمایید که به ایشان خواهیدرسید.»

and it came to pass about the time of the shutting of the gate, when it was dark, that the men went out; whither the men went I know not: pursue after them quickly; for ye will overtake them.

۶ 6 لیکن او ایشان را به پشت بام برده، درشاخه های کتان که برای خود بر پشت بام چیده بود، پنهان کرده بود.

But she had brought them up to the roof, and hid them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order upon the roof.

۷ 7 پس آن کسان، ایشان را به راه اردن تا گدارها تعاقب نمودند، و چون تعاقب کنندگان ایشان بیرون رفتند، دروازه رابستند.

And the men pursued after them the way to the Jordan unto the fords: and as soon as they that pursued after them were gone out, they shut the gate.

۸ 8 و قبل از آنکه بخوابند، او نزد ایشان به پشت بام برآمد.

And before they were laid down, she came up unto them upon the roof;

۹ 9 و به آن مردان گفت: «می‌دانم که یهوه این زمین را به شما داده، و ترس شما بر مامستولی شده است، و تمام ساکنان زمین به‌سبب شما گداخته شده‌اند.

and she said unto the men, I know that Jehovah hath given you the land, and that the fear of you is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.

۱۰ 10 زیرا شنیده‌ایم که خداوند چگونه آب دریای قلزم را پیش روی شما خشکانید، وقتی که از مصر بیرون آمدید، وآنچه به دو پادشاه اموریان که به آن طرف اردن بودند کردید، یعنی سیهون و عوج که ایشان راهلاک ساختید.

For we have heard how Jehovah dried up the water of the Red Sea before you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the Amorites, that were beyond the Jordan, unto Sihon and to Og, whom ye utterly destroyed.

۱۱ 11 و چون شنیدیم دلهای ماگداخته شد، و به‌سبب شما دیگر در کسی جان نماند، زیرا که یهوه خدای شما، بالا در آسمان وپایین بر زمین خداست.

And as soon as we had heard it, our hearts did melt, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man, because of you: for Jehovah your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.

۱۲ 12 پس الان برای من به خداوند قسم بخورید که چنانکه به شما احسان کردم، شما نیز به خاندان پدرم احسان خواهیدنمود، و نشانه امانت به من بدهید

Now therefore, I pray you, swear unto me by Jehovah, since I have dealt kindly with you, that ye also will deal kindly with my father’s house, and give me a true token;

۱۳ 13 که پدرم ومادرم و برادرانم و خواهرانم و هر‌چه دارند زنده خواهید گذارد، و جانهای ما را از موت رستگارخواهید ساخت.»

and that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and will deliver our lives from death.

۱۴ 14 آن مردان به وی گفتند: «جانهای ما به عوض شما بمیرند که چون خداوند این زمین را به ما بدهد اگر این کار ما رابروز ندهید، البته به شما احسان و امانت خواهیم کرد.»

And the men said unto her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business; and it shall be, when Jehovah giveth us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.

۱۵ 15 پس ایشان را با طناب از دریچه پایین کرد، زیرا خانه او بر حصار شهر بود و او بر حصار ساکن بود.

Then she let them down by a cord through the window: for her house was upon the side of the wall, and she dwelt upon the wall.

۱۶ 16 و ایشان را گفت: «به کوه بروید مباداتعاقب کنندگان به شما برسند و در آنجا سه روزخود را پنهان کنید، تا تعاقب کنندگان برگردند بعد از آن به راه خود بروید.»

And she said unto them, Get you to the mountain, lest the pursuers light upon you; and hide yourselves there three days, until the pursuers be returned: and afterward may ye go your way.

۱۷ 17 آن مردان به وی گفتند: «ما از این قسم تو که به ما دادی مبراخواهیم شد.

And the men said unto her, We will be guiltless of this thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

۱۸ 18 اینک چون ما به زمین داخل شویم، این طناب ریسمان قرمز را به دریچه‌ای که ما را به آن پایین کردی ببند، و پدرت و مادرت وبرادرانت و تمامی خاندان پدرت را نزد خود به خانه جمع کن.

Behold, when we come into the land, thou shalt bind this line of scarlet thread in the window which thou didst let us down by: and thou shalt gather unto thee into the house thy father, and thy mother, and thy brethren, and all thy father’s household.

۱۹ 19 و چنین خواهد شد که هر کسی‌که از در خانه تو به کوچه بیرون رود، خونش برسرش خواهد بود و ما مبرا خواهیم بود، و هر‌که نزد تو در خانه باشد، اگر کسی بر او دست بگذارد، خونش بر سر ما خواهد بود.

And it shall be, that whosoever shall go out of the doors of thy house into the street, his blood shall be upon his head, and we shall be guiltless: and whosoever shall be with thee in the house, his blood shall be on our head, if any hand be upon him.

۲۰ 20 و اگر این کار ما رابروز دهی، از قسم تو که به ما داده‌ای مبرا خواهیم بود.»

But if thou utter this our business, then we shall be guiltless of thine oath which thou hast made us to swear.

۲۱ 21 او گفت: «موافق کلام شما باشد.» پس ایشان را روانه کرده، رفتند، و طناب قرمز را به دریچه بست.

And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.

۲۲ 22 پس ایشان روانه شده، به کوه آمدند و درآنجا سه روز ماندند تا تعاقب کنندگان برگشتند، وتعاقب کنندگان تمامی راه را جستجو کردند ولی ایشان را نیافتند.

And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.

۲۳ 23 پس آن دو مرد برگشته، از کوه به زیر آمدند و از نهر عبور نموده، نزد یوشع بن نون رسیدند، و هر‌آنچه به ایشان واقع شده بود، برای وی بیان کردند.

Then the two men returned, and descended from the mountain, and passed over, and came to Joshua the son of Nun; and they told him all that had befallen them.

۲۴ 24 و به یوشع گفتند: «هرآینه خداوند تمامی زمین را به‌دست ما داده است و جمیع ساکنان زمین به‌سبب ما گداخته شده‌اند.»

And they said unto Joshua, Truly Jehovah hath delivered into our hands all the land; and moreover all the inhabitants of the land do melt away before us.
