ایّوب 5

۱ 1 «الان استغاثه کن و آیا کسی هست که تو راجواب دهد؟ و به کدامیک از مقدسان توجه خواهی نمود؟

"Call now; is there any who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?

۲ 2 زیرا غصه، احمق رامی کشد و حسد، ابله را می‌میراند.

For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.

۳ 3 من احمق رادیدم که ریشه می‌گرفت و ناگهان مسکن او رانفرین کردم.

I have seen the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.

۴ 4 فرزندان او از امنیت دور هستند ودر دروازه پایمال می‌شوند و رهاننده‌ای نیست.

His children are far from safety. They are crushed in the gate. Neither is there any to deliver them,

۵ 5 که گرسنگان محصول او را می‌خورند، و آن رانیز از میان خارها می‌چینند، و دهان تله برای دولت ایشان باز است.

whose harvest the hungry eats up, and take it even out of the thorns. And the thirsty swallow up their wealth.

۶ 6 زیرا که بلا از غبار درنمی آید، و مشقت از زمین نمی روید.

For affliction doesn't come forth from the dust, neither does trouble spring out of the ground;

۷ 7 بلکه انسان برای مشقت مولود می‌شود، چنانکه شراره‌ها بالامی پرد.

but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.

۸ 8 و لکن من نزد خدا طلب می‌کردم، ودعوی خود را بر خدا می‌سپردم،

"But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God,

۹ 9 که اعمال عظیم و بی‌قیاس می‌کند و عجایب بی‌شمار؛

who does great things that can't be fathomed, marvelous things without number;

۱۰ 10 که بر روی زمین باران می‌باراند، و آب بر روی صخره‌ها جاری می‌سازد،

who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;

۱۱ 11 تا مسکینان را به مقام بلند برساند، و ماتمیان به سلامتی سرافراشته شوند.

so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.

۱۲ 12 که فکرهای حیله گران را باطل می‌سازد، به طوری که دستهای ایشان هیچ کار مفیدنمی تواند کرد.

He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands can't perform their enterprise.

۱۳ 13 که حکیمان را در حیله ایشان گرفتار می‌سازد، و مشورت مکاران مشوش می‌شود.

He traps the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning are brought to a quick end.

۱۴ 14 در روز به تاریکی برمی خورند و به وقت ظهر، مثل شب کورانه راه می‌روند.

They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.

۱۵ 15 که مسکین را از شمشیر دهان ایشان، و از دست زورآور نجات می‌دهد.

But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.

۱۶ 16 پس امید، برای ذلیل پیدا می‌شود و شرارت دهان خود را می‌بندد.

So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.

۱۷ 17 «هان، خوشابحال شخصی که خدا تنبیهش می‌کند. پس تادیب قادر مطلق را خوار مشمار.

"Look, blessed is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of Shaddai.

۱۸ 18 زیرا که او مجروح می‌سازد و التیام می‌دهد، ومی کوبد و دست او شفا می‌دهد.

For he wounds, and binds up. He injures, and his hands make whole.

۱۹ 19 در شش بلا، تو را نجات خواهد داد و در هفت بلا، هیچ ضرر برتو نخواهد رسید.

He will deliver you in six troubles; yes, in seven there shall no evil touch you.

۲۰ 20 در قحط تو را از موت فدیه خواهد داد، و در جنگ از دم شمشیر.

In famine he will redeem you from death; in war, from the power of the sword.

۲۱ 21 ازتازیانه زبان پنهان خواهی ماند، و چون هلاکت آید، از آن نخواهی ترسید.

You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes.

۲۲ 22 بر خرابی وتنگسالی خواهی خندید، و از وحوش زمین بیم نخواهی داشت.

At destruction and famine you shall laugh, neither shall you be afraid of the animals of the earth.

۲۳ 23 زیرا با سنگهای صحراهمداستان خواهی بود، و وحوش صحرا با توصلح خواهند کرد.

For you shall be in league with the stones of the field. The animals of the field shall be at peace with you.

۲۴ 24 و خواهی دانست که خیمه تو ایمن است، و مسکن خود را تجسس خواهی کرد و چیزی مفقود نخواهی یافت.

You shall know that your tent is in peace. You shall visit your fold, and shall miss nothing.

۲۵ 25 وخواهی دانست که ذریتت کثیر است و اولاد تومثل علف زمین.

You shall know also that your descendants shall be great, and your offspring as the grass of the earth.

۲۶ 26 و در شیخوخیت به قبرخواهی رفت، مثل بافه گندم که در موسمش برداشته می‌شود.

You shall come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.

۲۷ 27 اینک این را تفتیش نمودیم وچنین است، پس تو این را بشنو و برای خویشتن بدان.»

Look this, we have searched it, so it is. Hear it, and know it for your good."
