ایّوب 34

۱ 1 پس الیهو تکلم نموده، گفت:

Furthermore Elihu answered and said,

۲ 2 «ای حکیمان سخنان مرا بشنوید، و‌ای عارفان، به من گوش گیرید.

Hear my words, O all of you wise men; and give ear unto me, all of you that have knowledge.

۳ 3 زیرا گوش، سخنان را امتحان می‌کند، چنانکه کام، طعام را ذوق می‌نماید.

For the ear tries words, as the mouth tastes food.

۴ 4 انصاف را برای خود اختیار کنیم، و درمیان خود نیکویی را بفهمیم.

Let us choose to us judgment: let us know among ourselves what is good.

۵ 5 چونکه ایوب گفته است که بی‌گناه هستم. و خدا داد مرا از من برداشته است.

For Job has said, I am righteous: and God has taken away my judgment.

۶ 6 هرچند انصاف با من است دروغگو شمرده شده‌ام، و هرچند بی‌تقصیرم، جراحت من علاج ناپذیر است.

Should I lie against my right? my wound is incurable without transgression.

۷ 7 کدام شخص مثل ایوب است که سخریه را مثل آب می‌نوشد

What man is like Job, who drinks up scorning like water?

۸ 8 که در رفاقت بدکاران سالک می‌شود، و با مردان شریر رفتار می‌نماید.

Which goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men.

۹ 9 زیرا گفته است انسان رافایده‌ای نیست که رضامندی خدا را بجوید.

For he has said, It profits a man nothing that he should delight himself with God.

۱۰ 10 پس الان‌ای صاحبان فطانت مرا بشنوید، حاشااز خدا که بدی کند. و از قادرمطلق، که ظلم نماید.

Therefore hearken unto me all of you men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.

۱۱ 11 زیرا که انسان را به حسب عملش مکافات می‌دهد، و بر هرکس موافق راهش می‌رساند.

For the work of a man shall he render unto him, and cause every man to find according to his ways.

۱۲ 12 وبه درستی که خدا بدی نمی کند، و قادر مطلق انصاف را منحرف نمی سازد.

Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.

۱۳ 13 کیست که زمین رابه او تفویض نموده، و کیست که تمامی ربع مسکون را به او سپرده باشد.

Who has given him a charge over the earth? or who has disposed the whole world?

۱۴ 14 اگر او دل خود رابه وی مشغول سازد، اگر روح و نفخه خویش رانزد خود بازگیرد،

If he set his heart upon man, if he gather unto himself his spirit and his breath;

۱۵ 15 تمامی بشر با هم هلاک می‌شوند و انسان به خاک راجع می‌گردد.

All flesh shall perish together, and man shall return unto dust.

۱۶ 16 پس اگر فهم داری این را بشنو، و به آواز کلام من گوش ده.

If now you have understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.

۱۷ 17 آیا کسی‌که از انصاف نفرت دارد سلطنت خواهد نمود؟ و آیا عادل کبیر را به گناه اسنادمی دهی؟

Shall even he that hates right govern? and will you condemn him that is most just?

۱۸ 18 آیا به پادشاه گفته می‌شود که لئیم هستی، یا به نجیبان که شریر می‌باشید؟

Is it fit to say to a king, You are wicked? and to princes, All of you are ungodly?

۱۹ 19 پس چگونه به آنکه امیران را طرفداری نمی نماید ودولتمند را بر فقیر ترجیح نمی دهد. زیرا که جمیع ایشان عمل دستهای وی‌اند.

How much less to him that accepts not the persons of princes, nor regards the rich more than the poor? for they all are the work of his hands.

۲۰ 20 درلحظه‌ای در نصف شب می‌میرند. قوم مشوش شده، می‌گذرند، و زورآوران بی‌واسطه دست انسان هلاک می‌شوند.

In a moment shall they die, and the people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.

۲۱ 21 «زیرا چشمان او بر راههای انسان می‌باشد، و تمامی قدمهایش را می‌نگرد.

For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he sees all his activities.

۲۲ 22 ظلمتی نیست و سایه موت نی، که خطاکاران خویشتن را درآن پنهان نمایند.

There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

۲۳ 23 زیرا اندک زمانی بر احدی تامل نمی کند تا او پیش خدا به محاکمه بیاید.

For he will not lay upon man more than right; that he should enter into judgment with God.

۲۴ 24 زورآوران را بدون تفحص خرد می‌کند، ودیگران را به‌جای ایشان قرار می‌دهد.

He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their position.

۲۵ 25 هرآینه اعمال ایشان را تشخیص می‌نماید، و شبانگاه ایشان را واژگون می‌سازد تا هلاک شوند.

Therefore he knows their works, and he overturns them in the night, so that they are destroyed.

۲۶ 26 به‌جای شریران ایشان را می‌زند، در مکان نظرکنندگان.

He strikes them as wicked men in the open sight of others;

۲۷ 27 از آن جهت که از متابعت اومنحرف شدند، و در همه طریقهای وی تامل ننمودند.

Because they turned back from him, and would not consider any of his ways:

۲۸ 28 تا فریاد فقیر را به او برسانند، و اوفغان مسکینان را بشنود.

So that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he hears the cry of the afflicted.

۲۹ 29 چون او آرامی دهدکیست که در اضطراب اندازد، و چون روی خودرا بپوشاند کیست که او را تواند دید. خواه به امتی خواه به انسانی مساوی است،

When he gives quietness, who then can make trouble? and when he hides his face, who then can behold him? whether it be done against a nation, or against a man only:

۳۰ 30 تا مردمان فاجرسلطنت ننمایند و قوم را به دام گرفتار نسازند.

That the hypocrite reign not, lest the people be ensnared.

۳۱ 31 لیکن آیا کسی هست که به خدا بگوید: سزایافتم، دیگر عصیان نخواهم ورزید.

Surely it is meet to be said unto God, I have borne chastisement, I will not offend any more:

۳۲ 32 و آنچه راکه نمی بینم تو به من بیاموز، و اگر گناه کردم باردیگر نخواهم نمود.

That which I see not teach you me: if I have done iniquity, I will do no more.

۳۳ 33 آیا برحسب رای تو جزاداده، خواهد گفت: چونکه تو رد می‌کنی پس تواختیار کن و نه من. و آنچه صواب می‌دانی بگو.

Should it be according to your mind? he will recompense it, whether you refuse, or whether you choose; and not I: therefore speak what you know.

۳۴ 34 صاحبان فطانت به من خواهند گفت، بلکه هرمرد حکیمی که مرا می‌شنود

Let men of understanding tell me, and let a wise man hearken unto me.

۳۵ 35 که ایوب بدون معرفت حرف می‌زند و کلام او از روی تعقل نیست.

Job has spoken without knowledge, and his words were without wisdom.

۳۶ 36 کاش که ایوب تا به آخر آزموده شود، زیرا که مثل شریران جواب می‌دهد.

My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end because of his answers for wicked men.

۳۷ 37 چونکه برگناه خود طغیان را مزید می‌کند و در میان مادستک می‌زند و به ضد خدا سخنان بسیارمی گوید.»

For he adds rebellion unto his sin, he claps his hands among us, and multiplies his words against God.
