ایّوب 29

۱ 1 و ایوب باز مثل خود را آورده، گفت:

Moreover Job continued his discourse, and said:

۲ 2 «کاش که من مثل ماههای پیش می‌بودم و مثل روزهایی که خدا مرا در آنها نگاه می‌داشت.

O that I were as in months past, In the days when God was my guardian;

۳ 3 هنگامی که چراغ او بر سر من می‌تابید، و با نور او به تاریکی راه می‌رفتم.

When his lamp shined over my head, And when by his light I walked through darkness!

۴ 4 چنانکه در روزهای کامرانی خود می‌بودم، هنگامی که سر خدا بر خیمه من می‌ماند.

As I was in the autumn of my days, When the friendship of God was over my tent;

۵ 5 وقتی که قادر مطلق هنوز با من می‌بود، و فرزندانم به اطراف من می‌بودند.

When the Almighty was yet with me, And my children were around me;

۶ 6 حینی که قدمهای خود را باکره می‌شستم و صخره، نهرهای روغن را برای من می ریخت.

When I bathed my steps in milk, And the rock poured me out rivers of oil!

۷ 7 چون به دروازه شهر بیرون می‌رفتم وکرسی خود را در چهار سوق حاضر می‌ساختم.

When I went forth to the gate by the city, And took my seat in the market-place,

۸ 8 جوانان مرا دیده، خود را مخفی می‌ساختند، وپیران برخاسته، می‌ایستادند.

The young men saw me and hid themselves, And the aged arose and stood.

۹ 9 سروران از سخن‌گفتن بازمی ایستادند، و دست به دهان خودمی گذاشتند.

The princes refrained from speaking, And laid their hand upon their mouth.

۱۰ 10 آواز شریفان ساکت می‌شد وزبان به کام ایشان می‌چسبید.

The nobles held their peace, And their tongue cleaved to the roof of their mouth.

۱۱ 11 زیرا گوشی که مرا می‌شنید، مرا خوشحال می‌خواند و چشمی که مرا می‌دید، برایم شهادت می‌داد.

When the ear heard me, then it blessed me; And when the eye saw me, it gave witness to me.

۱۲ 12 زیرافقیری که استغاثه می‌کرد او را می‌رهانیدم، ویتیمی که نیز معاون نداشت.

For I delivered the poor, when they cried; And the fatherless, who had none to help him.

۱۳ 13 برکت شخصی که در هلاکت بود، به من می‌رسید و دل بیوه‌زن راخوش می‌ساختم.

The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me, And I caused the heart of the widow to sing for joy.

۱۴ 14 عدالت را پوشیدم و مراملبس ساخت، و انصاف من مثل ردا و تاج بود.

I clothed myself with righteousness, and it clothed itself with me; And justice was my robe and diadem.

۱۵ 15 من به جهت کوران چشم بودم، و به جهت لنگان پای.

I was eyes to the blind, And feet was I to the lame;

۱۶ 16 برای مسکینان پدر بودم، و دعوایی را که نمی دانستم، تفحص می‌کردم.

I was a father to the poor, And the cause of him I knew not I searched out;

۱۷ 17 دندانهای آسیای شریر را می‌شکستم و شکار را ازدندانهایش می‌ربودم.

And I broke the teeth of the wicked, And plucked the spoil from his jaws.

۱۸ 18 «و می‌گفتم، در آشیانه خود جان خواهم سپرد و ایام خویش را مثل عنقا طویل خواهم ساخت.

Then said I, “I shall die in my nest; I shall multiply my days as the sand.

۱۹ 19 ریشه من به سوی آبها کشیده خواهدگشت، و شبنم بر شاخه هایم ساکن خواهد شد.

My root is spread abroad to the waters, And the dew abideth on my branches.

۲۰ 20 جلال من در من تازه خواهد شد، و کمانم دردستم نو خواهد ماند.

My glory is fresh with me, And my bow gathereth strength in my hand.”

۲۱ 21 مرا می‌شنیدند و انتظارمی کشیدند، و برای مشورت من ساکت می‌ماندند.

To me men gave ear, and waited, And kept silence for my counsel.

۲۲ 22 بعد از کلام من دیگر سخن نمی گفتند و قول من بر ایشان فرو می‌چکید.

To my words they made no reply, When my speech dropped down upon them.

۲۳ 23 و برای من مثل باران انتظار می‌کشیدند و دهان خویش را مثل باران آخرین باز می‌کردند.

Yea, they waited for me as for the rain; They opened their mouths wide as for the latter rain.

۲۴ 24 اگر بر ایشان می‌خندیدم باور نمی کردند، و نور چهره مرا تاریک نمی ساختند.

If I smiled upon them, they believed it not; Nor did they cause the light of my countenance to fall.

۲۵ 25 راه را برای ایشان اختیار کرده، به ریاست می‌نشستم، و در میان لشکر، مثل پادشاه ساکن می‌بودم، و مثل کسی‌که نوحه‌گران را تسلی می‌بخشد.

When I came among them, I sat as chief; I dwelt as a king in the midst of an army, As a comforter among mourners.
