ایّوب 14

۱ 1 قلیل الایام و پر از زحمات است.

Man, that is born of a woman, Is of few days, and full of trouble.

۲ 2 مثل گل می‌روید و بریده می‌شود. و مثل سایه می‌گریزد و نمی ماند.

He cometh forth like a flower, and is cut down: He fleeth also as a shadow, and continueth not.

۳ 3 و آیا بر چنین شخص چشمان خود را می‌گشایی و مرا با خود به محاکمه می‌آوری؟

And dost thou open thine eyes upon such a one, And bringest me into judgment with thee?

۴ 4 کیست که چیز طاهر را ازچیز نجس بیرون آورد؟ هیچکس نیست.

Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? not one.

۵ 5 چونکه روزهایش مقدر است و شماره ماههایش نزد توست و حدی از برایش گذاشته‌ای که از آن تجاوز نتواند نمود.

Seeing his days are determined, The number of his months is with thee, And thou hast appointed his bounds that he cannot pass;

۶ 6 از او رو بگردان تاآرام گیرد. و مثل مزدور روزهای خود را به انجام رساند.

Look away from him, that he may rest, Till he shall accomplish, as a hireling, his day.

۷ 7 «زیرا برای درخت امیدی است که اگر بریده شود باز خواهد رویید، و رمونهایش نابودنخواهد شد.

For there is hope of a tree, If it be cut down, that it will sprout again, And that the tender branch thereof will not cease.

۸ 8 اگر‌چه ریشه‌اش در زمین کهنه شود، و تنه آن در خاک بمیرد.

Though the root thereof wax old in the earth, And the stock thereof die in the ground;

۹ 9 لیکن از بوی آب، رمونه می‌کند و مثل نهال نو، شاخه‌ها می‌آورد.

Yet through the scent of water it will bud, And put forth boughs like a plant.

۱۰ 10 اما مرد می‌میرد و فاسد می‌شود و آدمی چون جان را سپارد کجا است؟

But man dieth, and is laid low: Yea, man giveth up the ghost, and where is he?

۱۱ 11 چنانکه آبها از دریازایل می‌شود، و نهرها ضایع و خشک می‌گردد.

[As] the waters fail from the sea, And the river wasteth and drieth up;

۱۲ 12 همچنین انسان می‌خوابد و برنمی خیزد، تانیست شدن آسمانها بیدار نخواهند شد و ازخواب خود برانگیخته نخواهند گردید.

So man lieth down and riseth not: Till the heavens be no more, they shall not awake, Nor be roused out of their sleep.

۱۳ 13 کاش که مرا در هاویه پنهان کنی؛ و تا غضبت فرو نشیند، مرا مستور سازی؛ و برایم زمانی تعیین نمایی تا مرا به یاد آوری. (Sheol h7585)

Oh that thou wouldest hide me in Sheol, That thou wouldest keep me secret, until thy wrath be past, That thou wouldest appoint me a set time, and remember me! (Sheol h7585)

۱۴ 14 اگر مرد بمیرد باردیگر زنده شود؛ در تمامی روزهای مجاهده خودانتظار خواهم کشید، تا وقت تبدیل من برسد.

If a man die, shall he live [again]? All the days of my warfare would I wait, Till my release should come.

۱۵ 15 تو ندا خواهی کرد و من جواب خواهم داد، و به صنعت دست خود مشتاق خواهی شد.

Thou wouldest call, and I would answer thee: Thou wouldest have a desire to the work of thy hands.

۱۶ 16 اما الان قدمهای مرا می‌شماری و آیا برگناه من پاسبانی نمی کنی؟

But now thou numberest my steps: Dost thou not watch over my sin?

۱۷ 17 معصیت من در کیسه مختوم است. و خطای مرا مسدود ساخته‌ای.

My transgression is sealed up in a bag, And thou fastenest up mine iniquity.

۱۸ 18 به درستی کوهی که می‌افتد فانی می‌شود وصخره از مکانش منتقل می‌گردد.

But the mountain falling cometh to nought; And the rock is removed out of its place;

۱۹ 19 آب سنگهارا می‌ساید، و سیلهایش خاک زمین را می‌برد. همچنین امید انسان را تلف می‌کنی،

The waters wear the stones; The overflowings thereof wash away the dust of the earth: So thou destroyest the hope of man.

۲۰ 20 بر او تا به ابد غلبه می‌کنی، پس می‌رود. روی او را تغییرمی دهی و او را رها می‌کنی.

Thou prevailest for ever against him, and he passeth; Thou changest his countenance, and sendest him away.

۲۱ 21 پسرانش به عزت می‌رسند و او نمی داند. یا به ذلت می‌افتند و ایشان را به نظر نمی آورد.

His sons come to honor, and he knoweth it not; And they are brought low, but he perceiveth it not of them.

۲۲ 22 برای خودش فقط جسد اواز درد بی‌تاب می‌شود. و برای خودش جان اوماتم می‌گیرد.»

But his flesh upon him hath pain, And his soul within him mourneth.
