خروج 20

۱ 1 و خدا تکلم فرمود و همه این کلمات را بگفت:

And the Lord spoke all these words:

۲ 2 «من هستم یهوه، خدای تو، که تو را از زمین مصر و از خانه غلامی بیرون آوردم.

“I am the Lord your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, out of the house of servitude.

۳ 3 تو را خدایان دیگر غیر از من نباشد.

You shall not have strange gods before me.

۴ 4 صورتی تراشیده و هیچ تمثالی از آنچه بالا درآسمان است، و از آنچه پایین در زمین است، و ازآنچه در آب زیر زمین است، برای خود مساز.

You shall not make for yourself a graven image, nor a likeness of anything that is in heaven above or on earth below, nor of those things which are in the waters under the earth.

۵ 5 نزد آنها سجده مکن، و آنها را عبادت منما، زیرامن که یهوه، خدای تو می‌باشم، خدای غیورهستم، که انتقام گناه پدران را از پسران تا پشت سوم و چهارم از آنانی که مرا دشمن دارندمی گیرم.

You shall not adore them, nor shall you worship them. I am the Lord your God: strong, zealous, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the sons to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,

۶ 6 و تا هزار پشت بر آنانی که مرا دوست دارند و احکام مرا نگاه دارند، رحمت می‌کنم.

and showing mercy to thousands of those who love me and keep my precepts.

۷ 7 نام یهوه، خدای خود را به باطل مبر، زیراخداوند کسی را که اسم او را به باطل برد، بی‌گناه نخواهد شمرد.

You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain. For the Lord will not hold harmless one who takes the name of the Lord his God falsely.

۸ 8 روز سبت را یاد کن تا آن راتقدیس نمایی.

Remember that you are to sanctify the day of the Sabbath.

۹ 9 شش روز مشغول باش و همه کارهای خود را بجا آور.

For six days, you will work and accomplish all your tasks.

۱۰ 10 اما روز هفتمین، سبت یهوه، خدای توست. در آن هیچ کار مکن، تو و پسرت و دخترت و غلامت و کنیزت وبهیمه ات و مهمان تو که درون دروازه های توباشد.

But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. You shall not do any work in it: you and your son and your daughter, your male servant and your female servant, your beast and the newcomer who is within your gates.

۱۱ 11 زیرا که در شش روز، خداوند آسمان وزمین و دریا و آنچه را که در آنهاست بساخت، ودر روز هفتم آرام فرمود. از این سبب خداوند روزهفتم را مبارک خوانده، آن را تقدیس نمود.

For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and the sea, and all the things that are in them, and so he rested on the seventh day. For this reason, the Lord has blessed the day of the Sabbath and sanctified it.

۱۲ 12 پدر و مادر خود را احترام نما، تا روزهای تو درزمینی که یهوه خدایت به تو می‌بخشد، درازشود.

Honor your father and your mother, so that you may have a long life upon the land, which the Lord your God will give to you.

۱۳ 13 قتل مکن.

You shall not murder.

۱۴ 14 زنا مکن.

You shall not commit adultery.

۱۵ 15 دزدی مکن.

You shall not steal.

۱۶ 16 بر همسایه خود شهادت دروغ مده.

You shall not speak false testimony against your neighbor.

۱۷ 17 به خانه همسایه خود طمع مورز، و به زن همسایه ات وغلامش و کنیزش و گاوش و الاغش و به هیچ‌چیزی که از آن همسایه تو باشد، طمع مکن.»

You shall not covet the house of your neighbor; neither shall you desire his wife, nor male servant, nor female servant, nor ox, nor donkey, nor anything that is his.”

۱۸ 18 و جمیع قوم رعدها و زبانه های آتش وصدای کرنا و کوه را که پر از دود بود دیدند، وچون قوم این را بدیدند لرزیدند، و از دوربایستادند.

Then all the people considered the voices, and the lights, and the sound of the trumpet, and the smoking mountain. And being terrified and struck with fear, they stood at a distance,

۱۹ 19 و به موسی گفتند: «تو به ما سخن بگو و خواهیم شنید، اما خدا به ما نگوید، مبادابمیریم.»

saying to Moses: “Speak to us, and we will listen. Let not the Lord speak to us, lest perhaps we may die.”

۲۰ 20 موسی به قوم گفت: «مترسید زیراخدا برای امتحان شما آمده است، تا ترس اوپیش روی شما باشد و گناه نکنید.»

And Moses said to the people: “Do not be afraid. For God came in order to test you, and so that the dread of him might be with you, and you would not sin.”

۲۱ 21 پس قوم ازدور ایستادند و موسی به ظلمت غلیظ که خدا درآن بود، نزدیک آمد.

And the people stood far away. But Moses approached toward the mist, in which was God.

۲۲ 22 و خداوند به موسی گفت: «به بنی‌اسرائیل چنین بگو: شما دیدید که ازآسمان به شما سخن گفتم:

Thereafter, the Lord said to Moses: “This you shall say to the sons of Israel: You have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven.

۲۳ 23 با من خدایان نقره مسازید و خدایان طلا برای خود مسازید.

You shall not make gods of silver, nor shall you make for yourselves gods of gold.

۲۴ 24 مذبحی از خاک برای من بساز، و قربانی های سوختنی خود و هدایای سلامتی خود را از گله ورمه خویش بر آن بگذران، در هر جایی که یادگاری برای نام خود سازم، نزد تو خواهم آمد، و تو را برکت خواهم داد.

You shall make an altar from the earth for me, and you shall offer upon it your holocausts and peace-offerings, your sheep and oxen, in every place where the memory of my name shall be. I will come to you, and I will bless you.

۲۵ 25 و اگر مذبحی ازسنگ برای من سازی، آن را از سنگهای تراشیده بنا مکن، زیرا اگر افزار خود را بر آن بلند کردی، آن را نجس خواهی ساخت.

And if you make an altar of stone for me, you shall not build it from cut stones; for if you lift up a tool over it, it will be defiled.

۲۶ 26 و بر مذبح من ازپله‌ها بالا مرو، مبادا عورت تو بر آن مکشوف شود.»

You shall not ascend by steps to my altar, lest your nakedness be revealed.”
