| در ایام اخشورش (این امور واقع شد). این همان اخشورش است که از هند تا حبش، بر صد و بیست و هفت ولایت سلطنت می‌کرد. | ۱ 1 |
Now it came to pass in the days of Ahasuerus, (this is Ahasuerus who reigned, from India even to Cush, over an hundred and seven and twenty provinces: )
| در آن ایام حینی که اخشورش پادشاه، بر کرسی سلطنت خویش در دارالسلطنه شوشن نشسته بود. | ۲ 2 |
That in those days, when the king Ahasuerus sat on the throne of his kingdom, which was in Shushan the palace,
| در سال سوم از سلطنت خویش، ضیافتی برای جمیع سروران و خادمان خود برپا نمود و حشمت فارس ومادی از امرا و سروران ولایتها، به حضور او بودند. | ۳ 3 |
In the third year of his reign, he made a feast to all his princes and his servants; the power of Persia and Media, the nobles and princes of the provinces, being before him:
| پس مدت مدید صد و هشتاد روز، توانگری جلال سلطنت خویش و حشمت مجد عظمت خود را جلوه می‌داد. | ۴ 4 |
When he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honour of his excellent majesty many days, even an hundred and eighty days.
| پس بعد از انقضای آنروزها، پادشاه برای همه کسانی که دردارالسلطنه شوشن از خرد و بزرگ یافت شدند، ضیافت هفت روزه در عمارت باغ قصر پادشاه برپا نمود. | ۵ 5 |
And when these days had ended, the king made a feast for all the people that were present in Shushan the palace, both for great and small, seven days, in the court of the garden of the king’s palace;
| پرده‌ها از کتان سفید و لاجورد، با ریسمانهای سفید و ارغوان در حلقه های نقره بر ستونهای مرمر سفید آویخته وتختهای طلا و نقره بر سنگفرشی از سنگ سماق و مرمر سفید و در و مرمر سیاه بود. | ۶ 6 |
Where were white, green, and blue, hangings, fastened with cords of fine linen and purple to silver rings and pillars of marble: the couches were of gold and silver, upon a pavement of red, and blue, and white, and black, marble.
| و آشامیدن، از ظرفهای طلابود و ظرفها را اشکال مختلفه بود و شرابهای ملوکانه برحسب کرم پادشاه فراوان بود. | ۷ 7 |
And they gave them drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels differing one from another, ) and royal wine in abundance, according to the bounty of the king.
| و آشامیدن برحسب قانون بود که کسی بر کسی تکلف نمی نمود، زیرا پادشاه درباره همه بزرگان خانه‌اش چنین امر فرموده بود که هر کس موافق میل خود رفتار نماید. | ۸ 8 |
And the drinking was according to the law; none constrained: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man’s pleasure.
| و وشتی ملکه نیز ضیافتی برای زنان خانه خسروی اخشورش پادشاه برپا نمود. | ۹ 9 |
Also Vashti the queen made a feast for the women in the royal house which belonged to king Ahasuerus.
| در روز هفتم، چون دل پادشاه از شراب خوش شد، هفت خواجه‌سرا یعنی مهومان و بزتا و حربونا و بغتا و ابغتا و زاتر و کرکس را که درحضور اخشورش پادشاه خدمت می‌کردند، امر فرمود | ۱۰ 10 |
On the seventh day, when the heart of the king was merry with wine, he commanded Mehuman, Biztha, Harbona, Bigtha, and Abagtha, Zethar, and Carcas, the seven chamberlains that served in the presence of Ahasuerus the king,
| که وشتی ملکه را با تاج ملوکانه به حضور پادشاه بیاورندتا زیبایی او را به خلایق و سروران نشان دهد، زیرا که نیکو منظر بود. | ۱۱ 11 |
To bring Vashti the queen before the king with the crown royal, to show the people and the princes her beauty: for she was fair to look on.
| اما وشتی ملکه نخواست که برحسب فرمانی که پادشاه به‌دست خواجه‌سرایان فرستاده بود بیاید. پس پادشاه بسیار خشمناک شده، غضبش در دلش مشتعل گردید. | ۱۲ 12 |
But the queen Vashti refused to come at the king’s commandment by his chamberlains: therefore was the king very angry, and his anger burned in him.
| آنگاه پادشاه به حکیمانی که از زمانها مخبر بودند تکلم نموده، (زیرا که عادت پادشاه با همه کسانی که به شریعت و احکام عارف بودند چنین بود. | ۱۳ 13 |
Then the king said to the wise men, who knew the times, (for so was the king’s manner toward all that knew law and judgment:
| و مقربان او کرشنا و شیتار و ادماتا و ترشیش و مرس و مرسنا ومموکان، هفت رئیس فارس و مادی بودند که روی پادشاه را می‌دیدند و در مملکت به درجه اول می‌نشستند) | ۱۴ 14 |
And the next to him was Carshena, Shethar, Admatha, Tarshish, Meres, Marsena, and Memucan, the seven princes of Persia and Media, who saw the king’s face, and who sat in the first place in the kingdom; )
| گفت: «موافق شریعت، به وشتی ملکه چه باید کرد؟ چونکه به فرمانی که اخشورش پادشاه به‌دست خواجه‌سرایان فرستاده است، عمل ننموده.» | ۱۵ 15 |
What shall we do to the queen Vashti according to law, because she hath not performed the commandment of the king Ahasuerus by the chamberlains?
| آنگاه مموکان به حضور پادشاه و سروران عرض کرد که «وشتی ملکه، نه‌تنها به پادشاه تقصیر نموده، بلکه به همه روسا و جمیع طوایفی که در تمامی ولایتهای اخشورش پادشاه می‌باشند، | ۱۶ 16 |
And Memucan answered before the king and the princes, Vashti the queen hath not done wrong to the king only, but also to all the princes, and to all the people that are in all the provinces of the king Ahasuerus.
| زیرا چون این عمل ملکه نزد تمامی زنان شایع شود، آنگاه شوهرانشان در نظر ایشان خوار خواهند شد، حینی که مخبر شوند که اخشورش پادشاه امر فرموده است که وشتی ملکه را به حضورش بیاورند و نیامده است. | ۱۷ 17 |
For this deed of the queen shall become known to all women, so that they shall look with contempt upon their husbands, when it shall be reported, The king Ahasuerus commanded Vashti the queen to be brought in before him, but she came not.
| و در آنوقت، خانمهای فارس و مادی که این عمل ملکه را بشنوند، به جمیع روسای پادشاه چنین خواهند گفت و این مورد بسیار احتقار و غضب خواهد شد. | ۱۸ 18 |
Likewise shall the ladies of Persia and Media say this day to all the king’s princes, who have heard of the deed of the queen. Thus shall there arise too much contempt and wrath.
| پس اگر پادشاه این رامصلحت داند، فرمان ملوکانه‌ای از حضور وی صادر شود و در شرایع فارس و مادی ثبت گردد، تا تبدیل نپذیرد، که وشتی به حضور اخشورش پادشاه دیگر نیاید و پادشاه رتبه ملوکانه او را به دیگری که بهتر از او باشد بدهد. | ۱۹ 19 |
If it pleaseth the king, let a royal commandment go from him, and let it be written among the laws of the Persians and the Medes, that it be not altered, That Vashti come no more before king Ahasuerus; and let the king give her royal estate to another that is better than she.
| وچون فرمانی که پادشاه صادر گرداند در تمامی مملکت عظیم او مسموع شود، آنگاه همه زنان شوهران خود را ازبزرگ و کوچک، احترام خواهند نمود.» | ۲۰ 20 |
And when the king’s decree which he shall make shall be proclaimed throughout all his empire, (for it is great, ) all the wives shall give to their husbands honour, both to great and small.
| و این سخن در نظر پادشاه و روسا پسندآمد و پادشاه موافق سخن مموکان عمل نمود. | ۲۱ 21 |
And the saying pleased the king and the princes; and the king did according to the word of Memucan:
| و مکتوبات به همه ولایتهای پادشاه به هرولایت، موافق خط آن و به هر قوم، موافق زبانش فرستاد تا هر مرد در خانه خود مسلط شود و درزبان قوم خود آن را بخواند. | ۲۲ 22 |
For he sent letters into all the king’s provinces, into every province according to the writing of it, and to every people after their language, that every man should bear rule in his own house, and that it should be proclaimed in the language of every people.
