استر 3

۱ 1 بعد از این وقایع، اخشورش پادشاه، هامان بن همداتای اجاجی را عظمت داده، به درجه بلند رسانید و کرسی او را از تمامی روسایی که با او بودند بالاتر گذاشت.

After these things did king Ahasuerus promote Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him, and set his seat above all the princes that were with him.

۲ 2 و جمیع خادمان پادشاه که در دروازه پادشاه می‌بودند، به هامان سر فرود آورده، وی را سجده می‌کردند، زیرا که پادشاه درباره‌اش چنین امر فرموده بود. لکن مردخای سر فرود نمی آورد و او را سجده نمی کرد.

And all the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, bowed down, and prostrated themselves before Haman; for the king had so commanded concerning him. But Mordecai bowed not down, nor prostrated himself before him.

۳ 3 و خادمان پادشاه که در دروازه پادشاه بودند، از مردخای پرسیدند که «تو چرا از امرپادشاه تجاوز می‌نمایی؟»

Then the king's servants, that were in the king's gate, said unto Mordecai: 'Why transgressest thou the king's commandment?'

۴ 4 اما هر‌چند، روز به روز این سخن را به وی می‌گفتند، به ایشان گوش نمی داد. پس هامان راخبر دادند تا ببینند که آیا کلام مردخای ثابت می‌شود یا نه، زیرا که ایشان را خبر داده بود که من یهودی هستم.

Now it came to pass, when they spoke daily unto him, and he hearkened not unto them, that they told Haman, to see whether Mordecai's words would stand; for he had told them that he was a Jew.

۵ 5 و چون هامان دید که مردخای سر فرود نمی آورد و او را سجده نمی نماید، هامان از غضب مملو گردید.

And when Haman saw that Mordecai bowed not down, nor prostrated himself before him, then was Haman full of wrath.

۶ 6 و چونکه دست انداختن بر مردخای، تنها به نظر وی سهل آمد واو را از قوم مردخای اطلاع داده بودند، پس هامان قصد هلاک نمودن جمیع یهودیانی که در تمامی مملکت اخشورش بودند کرد، زانرو که قوم مردخای بودند.

But it seemed contemptible in his eyes to lay hands on Mordecai alone; for they had made known to him the people of Mordecai; wherefore Haman sought to destroy all the Jews that were throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus, even the people of Mordecai.

۷ 7 در ماه اول از سال دوازدهم سلطنت اخشورش که ماه نیسان باشد، هر روز در حضورهامان و هر ماه تا ماه دوازدهم که ماه اذار باشد، فور یعنی قرعه می‌انداختند.

In the first month, which is the month Nisan, in the twelfth year of king Ahasuerus, they cast pur, that is, the lot, before Haman from day to day, and from month to month, to the twelfth month, which is the month Adar.

۸ 8 پس هامان به اخشورش پادشاه گفت: «قومی هستند که در میان قوم‌ها در جمیع ولایتهای مملکت تو پراکنده ومتفرق می‌باشند و شرایع ایشان، مخالف همه قومها است و شرایع پادشاه را به‌جا نمی آورند. لهذا ایشان را چنین واگذاشتن برای پادشاه مفیدنیست.

And Haman said unto king Ahasuerus: 'There is a certain people scattered abroad and dispersed among the peoples in all the provinces of thy kingdom; and their laws are diverse from those of every people; neither keep they the king's laws; therefore it profiteth not the king to suffer them.

۹ 9 اگر پادشاه را پسند آید، حکمی نوشته شود که ایشان را هلاک سازند. و من ده هزار وزنه نقره به‌دست عاملان خواهم داد تا آن را به خزانه پادشاه بیاورند.»

If it please the king, let it be written that they be destroyed; and I will pay ten thousand talents of silver into the hands of those that have the charge of the king's business, to bring it into the king's treasuries.'

۱۰ 10 آنگاه پادشاه انگشترخود را از دستش بیرون کرده، آن را به هامان بن همداتای اجاجی که دشمن یهود بود داد.

And the king took his ring from his hand, and gave it unto Haman the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, the Jews' enemy.

۱۱ 11 و پادشاه به هامان گفت: «هم نقره و هم قوم را به تودادم تا هرچه در نظرت پسند آید به ایشان بکنی.»

And the king said unto Haman: 'The silver is given to thee, the people also, to do with them as it seemeth good to thee.'

۱۲ 12 پس کاتبان پادشاه را در روز سیزدهم ماه اول احضار نمودند و بر وفق آنچه هامان امرفرمود، به امیران پادشاه و به والیانی که بر هرولایت بودند و بر سروران هر قوم مرقوم شد. به هر ولایت، موافق خط آن و به هر قوم موافق زبانش، به اسم اخشورش پادشاه مکتوب گردید وبه مهر پادشاه مختوم شد.

Then were the king's scribes called in the first month, on the thirteenth day thereof, and there was written, according to all that Haman commanded, unto the king's satraps, and to the governors that were over every province, and to the princes of every people; to every province according to the writing thereof, and to every people after their language; in the name of king Ahasuerus was it written, and it was sealed with the king's ring.

۱۳ 13 و مکتوبات به‌دست چاپاران به همه ولایتهای پادشاه فرستاده شد تاهمه یهودیان را از جوان و پیر و طفل و زن در یک روز، یعنی سیزدهم ماه دوازدهم که ماه آذارباشد، هلاک کنند و بکشند و تلف سازند و اموال ایشان را غارت کنند.

And letters were sent by posts into all the king's provinces, to destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish, all Jews, both young and old, little children and women, in one day, even upon the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, which is the month Adar, and to take the spoil of them for a prey.

۱۴ 14 و تا این حکم در همه ولایتها رسانیده شود، سوادهای مکتوب به همه قومها اعلان شد که در همان روز مستعد باشند.

The copy of the writing, to be given out for a decree in every province, was to be published unto all peoples, that they should be ready against that day.

۱۵ 15 پس چاپاران بیرون رفتند و ایشان را برحسب فرمان پادشاه شتابانیدند و این حکم دردارالسلطنه شوشن نافذ شد و پادشاه و هامان به نوشیدن نشستند. اما شهر شوشن مشوش بود.

The posts went forth in haste by the king's commandment, and the decree was given out in Shushan the castle; and the king and Haman sat down to drink; but the city of Shushan was perplexed.
