عاموس 6

۱ 1 وای بر آنانی که در صهیون ایمن و درکوهستان سامره مطمئن هستند که نقبای امت های اولی که خاندان اسرائیل نزد آنها آمدندمی باشند.

Wo to you, that ben ful of richessis in Sion, and tristen in the hil of Samarie, ye principal men, the heedis of puplis, that goen proudli in to the hous of Israel.

۲ 2 به کلنه عبور کنید و ملاحظه نمایید واز آنجا به حمات بزرگ بروید و به جت فلسطینیان فرود آیید؛ آیا آنها از این ممالک نیکوتر است یا حدود ایشان از حدود شمابزرگتر؟

Go ye in to Calamye, and se ye, and go ye fro thennus in to Emath the greet; and go ye doun in to Geth of Palestyns, and to alle the beste rewmes of hem, if her terme be broddere than youre terme.

۳ 3 شما که روز بلا را دور می‌کنید و مسند ظلم را نزدیک می‌آورید.

And ye ben departid in to yuel dai, and neiyen to the seete of wickidnesse;

۴ 4 که بر تختهای عاج می‌خوابید و بر بسترها دراز می‌شوید و بره‌ها را ازگله و گوساله‌ها را از میان حظیره‌ها می‌خورید.

and ye slepen in beddis of yuer, and doen letcherie in youre beddis; and ye eten a lomb of the flok, and calues of the myddil of droue;

۵ 5 که با نغمه بربط می‌سرایید و آلات موسیقی رامثل داود برای خود اختراع می‌کنید.

and ye syngen at vois of sautree. As Dauid thei gessiden hem for to haue instrumentis of song, and drynken wyn in viols;

۶ 6 و شراب رااز کاسه‌ها می‌نوشید و خویشتن را به بهترین عطریات تدهین می‌نمایید اما به جهت مصیبت یوسف غمگین نمی شوید.

and with beste oynement thei weren anoynted; and in no thing thei hadden compassioun on the sorewe, ether defoulyng, of Joseph.

۷ 7 بنابراین ایشان الان بااسیران اول به اسیری خواهند رفت و صدای عیش کنندگان دور خواهد شد.

Wherfor now thei schulen passe in the heed of men passynge ouer, and the doyng of men doynge letcherie schal be don awei.

۸ 8 خداوند یهوه به ذات خود قسم خورده ویهوه خدای لشکرها فرموده است که من ازحشمت یعقوب نفرت دارم و قصرهایش نزد من مکروه است. پس شهر را با هر‌چه در آن است تسلیم خواهم نمود.

۹ 9 و اگر ده نفر در یک شهرباقی‌مانده باشند ایشان خواهند مرد.

۱۰ 10 و چون خویشاوندان و دفن کنندگان کسی را بردارند تااستخوانها را از خانه بیرون برند آنگاه به کسی‌که در اندرون خانه باشد خواهند گفت: آیا دیگری نزد تو هست؟ او جواب خواهد داد که نیست. پس خواهند گفت: ساکت باش زیرا نام یهوه نبایدذکر شود.

۱۱ 11 زیرا اینک خداوند امر می‌فرماید وخانه بزرگ به خرابیها و خانه کوچک به شکافهاتلف می‌شود.

For lo! the Lord schal comaunde, and schal smyte the grettere hous with fallyngis, and the lesse hous with brekyngis.

۱۲ 12 آیا اسبان بر صخره می‌دوند یاآن را با گاوان شیار می‌کنند؟ زیرا که شما انصاف را به حنظل و ثمره عدالت را به افسنتین مبدل ساخته‌اید.

Whether horsis moun renne in stoonys, ether it mai be eerid with wielde oxun? For ye turneden doom in to bitternesse, and the fruyt of riytfulnesse in to wermod.

۱۳ 13 و به ناچیز شادی می‌کنید ومی گویید آیا با قوت خویش شاخها برای خودپیدا نکردیم؟

And ye ben glad in nouyt, and ye seien, Whether not in oure strengthe we token to vs hornes?

۱۴ 14 زیرا یهوه خدای لشکرهامی گوید: اینک‌ای خاندان اسرائیل من به ضدشما امتی برمی انگیزانم که شما را از مدخل حمات تا نهر عربه به تنگ خواهند‌آورد.

Lo! Y schal reise on you, the hous of Israel, seith the Lord God of oostis, a folc; and it schal al to-breke you fro entre of Emath `til to the streem of desert.
