دوم سموئیل 11

۱ 1 و واقع شد بعد از انقضای سال، هنگام بیرون رفتن پادشاهان که داود، یوآب رابا بندگان خویش و تمامی اسرائیل فرستاد، وایشان بنی عمون را خراب کرده، ربه را محاصره نمودند، اما داود در اورشلیم ماند.

And it came to pass when the time o the year for kings going out [to battle] had come round, that David sent Joab, and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the children of Ammon, and besieged Rabbath: but David remained at Jerusalem.

۲ 2 و واقع شد در وقت عصر که داود از بسترش برخاسته، بر پشت بام خانه پادشاه گردش کرد و ازپشت بام زنی را دید که خویشتن را شستشومی کند و آن زن بسیار نیکومنظر بود.

And it came to pass toward evening, that David arose off his couch, and walked on the roof of the king's house, and saw from the roof a woman bathing; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon.

۳ 3 پس داودفرستاده، درباره زن استفسار نمود و او را گفتند که «آیا این بتشبع، دختر الیعام، زن اوریای حتی نیست؟»

And David sent and enquired about the woman: and [one] said, [Is] not this Bersabee the daughter of Eliab, the wife of Urias the Chettite?

۴ 4 و داود قاصدان فرستاده، او را گرفت واو نزد وی آمده، داود با او همبستر شد و او ازنجاست خود طاهر شده، به خانه خود برگشت.

And David sent messengers, and took her, and went in to her, and he lay with her: and she was purified from her uncleanness, and returned to her house.

۵ 5 و آن زن حامله شد و فرستاده، داود را مخبرساخت و گفت که من حامله هستم.

And the woman conceived; and she sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

۶ 6 پس داود نزد یوآب فرستاد که اوریای حتی را نزد من بفرست و یوآب، اوریا را نزد داودفرستاد.

And David sent to Joab, saying, Send me Urias the Chettite; and Joab sent Urias to David.

۷ 7 و چون اوریا نزد وی رسید، داود ازسلامتی یوآب و از سلامتی قوم و از سلامتی جنگ پرسید.

And Urias arrived and went in to him, and David asked him how Joab was, and how the people were, and how the war went on.

۸ 8 و داود به اوریا گفت: «به خانه ات برو و پایهای خود را بشو.» پس اوریا از خانه پادشاه بیرون رفت و از عقبش، خوانی از پادشاه فرستاده شد.

And David said to Urias, Go to thy house, and wash thy feet: and Urias departed from the house of the king, and a portion [of meat] from the king followed him.

۹ 9 اما اوریا نزد در خانه پادشاه با سایربندگان آقایش خوابیده، به خانه خود نرفت.

And Urias slept at the door of the king with the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.

۱۰ 10 وداود را خبر داده، گفتند که «اوریا به خانه خودنرفته است.» پس داود به اوریا گفت: «آیا تو ازسفر نیامده‌ای، پس چرا به خانه خود نرفته‌ای؟»

And they brought David word, saying, Urias has not gone down to his house. And David said to Urias, Art thou not come from a journey? why hast thou not gone down to thy house?

۱۱ 11 اوریا به داود عرض کرد که «تابوت و اسرائیل و یهودا در خیمه‌ها ساکنند و آقایم، یوآب، وبندگان آقایم بر روی بیابان خیمه نشینند و آیا من به خانه خود بروم تا اکل و شرب بنمایم و با زن خود بخوابم؟ به حیات تو و به حیات جان تو قسم که این کار را نخواهم کرد.»

And Urias said to David, The ark, and Israel, and Juda dwell in tents; and my lord Joab, and the servants of my lord, are encamped in the open fields; and shall I go into my house to eat and drink, and lie with my wife? how [should I do this? as] thy soul lives, I will not do this thing.

۱۲ 12 و داود به اوریا گفت: «امروز نیز اینجا باش و فردا تو را روانه می‌کنم.» پس اوریا آن روز و فردایش را دراورشلیم ماند.

And David said to Urias, Remain here to-day also, and to-morrow I will let thee go. So Urias remained in Jerusalem that day and the day following.

۱۳ 13 و داود او را دعوت نمود که درحضورش خورد و نوشید و او را مست کرد، ووقت شام بیرون رفته، بر بسترش با بندگان آقایش خوابید و به خانه خود نرفت.

And David called him, and he ate before him and drank, and he made him drunk: and he went out in the evening to lie upon his bed with the servants of his lord, and went not down to his house.

۱۴ 14 و بامدادان داود مکتوبی برای یوآب نوشته، به‌دست اوریا فرستاد.

And the morning came, and David wrote a letter to Joab, and sent it by the hand of Urias.

۱۵ 15 و در مکتوب به این مضمون نوشت که «اوریا را در مقدمه جنگ سخت بگذارید، و از عقبش پس بروید تا زده شده، بمیرد.»

And he wrote in the letter, saying, Station Urias in front of the severe [part] of the fight, and retreat from behind him, so shall he be wounded and die.

۱۶ 16 و چون یوآب شهر را محاصره می‌کرد اوریا را در مکانی که می‌دانست که مردان شجاع در آنجا می‌باشند، گذاشت.

And it came to pass while Joab was watching against the city, that he set Urias in a place where he knew that valiant men were.

۱۷ 17 و مردان شهر بیرون آمده، با یوآب جنگ کردند و بعضی از قوم، از بندگان داود، افتادند و اوریای حتی نیزبمرد.

And the men of the city went out, and fought with Joab: and some of the people of the servants of David fell, and Urias the Chettite died also.

۱۸ 18 پس یوآب فرستاده، داود را از جمیع وقایع جنگ خبر داد.

And Joab sent, and reported to David all the events of the war, so as to tell them to the king.

۱۹ 19 و قاصد را امر فرموده، گفت: «چون از تمامی وقایع جنگ به پادشاه خبرداده باشی،

And he charged the messenger, saying, When thou hast finished reporting all the events of the war to the king,

۲۰ 20 اگر خشم پادشاه افروخته شود وتو را گوید چرا برای جنگ به شهر نزدیک شدید، آیا نمی دانستید که از سر حصار، تیر خواهندانداخت؟

then it shall come to pass if the anger of the king shall arise, and he shall say to thee, Why did ye draw nigh to the city to fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from off the wall?

۲۱ 21 کیست که ابیملک بن یربوشت راکشت؟ آیا زنی سنگ بالایین آسیایی را از روی حصار بر او نینداخت که در تاباص مرد؟ پس چرابه حصار نزدیک شدید؟ آنگاه بگو که «بنده ات، اوریای حتی نیز مرده است.»

Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerobaal son of Ner? did not a woman cast a piece of a millstone upon him from above the wall, and he died in Thamasi? why did ye draw near to the wall? then thou shalt say, Thy servant Urias the Chettite is also dead.

۲۲ 22 پس قاصد روانه شده، آمد و داود را از هرآنچه یوآب او را پیغام داده بود، مخبر ساخت.

And the messenger of Joab went to the king to Jerusalem, and he came and reported to David all that Joab told him, all the affairs of the war. And David was very angry with Joab, and said to the messenger, Why did ye draw nigh to the wall to fight? knew ye not that ye would be wounded from off the wall? Who smote Abimelech the son of Jerobaal? did not a woman cast upon him a piece of millstone from the wall, and he died in Thamasi? why did ye draw near to the wall?

۲۳ 23 و قاصد به داود گفت که «مردان بر ما غالب شده، در عقب ما به صحرا بیرون آمدند، و ما بر ایشان تا دهنه دروازه تاختیم.

And the messenger said to David, The men prevailed against us, and they came out against us into the field, and we came upon them even to the door of the gate.

۲۴ 24 و تیراندازان بربندگان تو از روی حصار تیر انداختند، و بعضی ازبندگان پادشاه مردند و بنده تو اوریای حتی نیزمرده است.»

And the archers shot at thy servants from off the wall, and some of the king's servants died, and thy servant Urias the Chettite is dead also.

۲۵ 25 داود به قاصد گفت: «به یوآب چنین بگو: این واقعه در نظر تو بد نیاید زیرا که شمشیر، این و آن را بی‌تفاوت هلاک می‌کند. پس در مقاتله با شهر به سختی کوشیده، آن را منهدم بساز. پس او را خاطر جمعی بده.»

And David said to the messenger, Thus shalt thou say to Joab, Let not the matter be grievous in thine eyes, for the sword devours one way at one time and another way at another: strengthen thine array against the city, and destroy it, and strengthen him.

۲۶ 26 و چون زن اوریا شنید که شوهرش اوریامرده است، برای شوهر خود ماتم گرفت.

And the wife of Urias heard that Urias her husband was dead, and she mourned for her husband.

۲۷ 27 وچون ایام ماتم گذشت، داود فرستاده، او را به خانه خود آورد و او زن وی شد، و برایش پسری زایید، اما کاری که داود کرده بود، در نظر خداوندناپسند آمد.

And the time of mourning expired, and David sent and took her into his house, and she became his wife, and bore him a son: but the thing which David did was evil in the eyes of the Lord.
